Well, I tried using an 800 grit sand paper to clean the contacts, and that didn't work either. I've tested the flash cart on my Turbo Express as well, and the Express does the same thing as my TG-16. I'm thinking that the American systems just don't react well to these flash carts.  I wish the American systems weren't so problematic, even the American Duo has technical issues. The funny thing is that the flash cart worked perfectly the first time I placed roms on it, and only after subsequent switching of roms, did my tg-16 not feel like loading up the flash cart. Now, it won't even load up the blue flash cart menu screen at all. Has anyone had this similar experience as me, and if so, have you come up with any solutions?

Blazing Lazers all the way. The music and graphics for this game were amazing for 1989 standards. The game totally rocks out.

Quote from: nat on 02/11/2008, 12:41 PMInterestingly enough I have problems using the flash cart on my stock TG-16 as well. Mine always boots to the blue menu screen, but locks up when you try to play the games.
I've had that happen on certain games. It seems to be an issue with bad roms. I'll try cleaning with isopropyl alcohol first, and if that doesn't work, then it'll probably have to be some sand paper action.

Quote from: SNKNostalgia on 02/10/2008, 08:32 PMHell Dragon Force alone was one of the main reasons I bought it back then. Later on I went import crazy buying, Radiant Silver Gun, X-men vs. SF, D&D Collection, and most other Capcom arcade games. I have to admit that out of ten people I knew, one or two had a Saturn and all of them had a PS1 by Christmas 95.
I love Dragon Force for the Saturn. That game is so incredibly addicting. I still love playing the Saturn and the TG-16 to this day.

Quote from: guest on 02/11/2008, 10:58 AMI used some 000# steel wool, but any fine sandpaper would work just as well.  Neither is abrasive enough to quickly remove a lot of material, so a few light passes won't do any real damage (though you have to be careful not to sand any other part of the card).  You could even try one of those Mr. Clean Magic Erasers.  If you're not familiar with 'em, they're a block of melamine foam and are slightly abrasive - slight enough to be safely used on walls, counters, appliances, etc.
I'll be the first to admit I'm not very "technology-inclined," but I'm a little hesitant to use steel wool or sand paper to clean the contacts. If the problem persists, I may have to go that route.

Has anyone else gone a different route to get their flash cart to work better with the respective console? Most of the folks that post on this board seem so knowledgable that I'd like to hear some other flash cart cleaning alternatives.

Quote from: guest on 02/11/2008, 10:32 AMI had to get pretty aggressive in cleaning the contacts on mine; they never looked dirty or corroded, but it wouldn't work at all without a thorough (and slightly abrasive) scrubbing of the contacts.  Beyond this initial problem, mine has worked flawlessly and hasn't exhibited the problem you describe.
Other than utilizing a non-abrasive, non-latex eraser, what would you recommend for cleaning the chip contacts that won't damage the contacts? What did you specifically use and do to get yours to work better?

I've recently obtained a flash cart, and I was hoping to get some advice on something that I observed regarding its functionality with my TG-16. Specifically, I noticed that my TG-16 doesn't recognize my flash cart as easily as it does any of my Turbo Chips. Sometimes it'll take me turning the TG-16 on and off a few times to get the Flash Cart to load up. When it doesn't load up, I just get a purple screen. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've looked at the end (the part that goes into my console) of my Flash Cart to ensure that it's not dirty. Is there anything that I can do to make the Flash Cart more compatible with my TG-16 so I don't have to turn my console on and off so many times?

Wow, talk about a blast from the past. Good stuff.

In Colombia, it's people that come from the Department (equivalent of a U.S. State) of Antioquia. I travel to Medellin, the capital of Antioquia, relatively frequently. I wouldn't say it's "Costa Rica safe," but the chicks there are hot as hell, and may be worth risking a little something something. I'm just saying.  :-"

Paisa = Pie-sa. It's slang for "fellow countryman or friend."

I'm ambivalent to his banning. The posts that I did read were annoying, but I could easily skip through them when I didn't want to read his babble.

My two favorite systems are the Sega Saturn and the TurboGrafx-16. Those two systems alone are the sole reason why I'm keeping my flat screen television well past the time we are supposed to switch to digital TV in the forseeable future. As far as this current generation of video games is concerned, I've only played the 360. Gears of War and Bioshock were pretty good, but I don't get the same fun feeling that I got when playing games like Mario Kart, Bonk's Revenge, Ninja Spirit, Guardian Heroes, and Dragon Force for the older systems.

This is one of the better threads on here. It's been very informative reading through what you all have experienced in installing the drivers onto your computers. Hopefully, I won't have as many issues when I decide to order mine.

Quote from: TurboXray on 01/03/2008, 05:43 PMI heard a rumor that tototek is coming out with USB only versions of some of their cards.
The tototek flash cards don't look as nice as the ones that neoteam makes. What would be the benefit of purchasing the tototek one over the neoteam one?
#116
Necro, what difficulties did you have in getting the software to work properly on your computer? Will this only work with a particular version of Windows? I'm thinking of emailing the Turbo List to gauge interest, I'd like to jump in on a mass order.

Also, with these flash cards, can you add and subtract to the card whenever?
#117
I've been researching Flash cards, and they seem to work quite well. Have any of you had difficulties utilizing these flash cards on TG-16's? Are there any drawbacks to utilizing Flash Cards?

Also, will there be a mass ordering for the 128M cards soon?

Seriously! Saturday morning cartoons used to be the FUNK! Now, it's just crap.

Quote from: nat on 12/06/2007, 12:28 PMI just had to mention this for the sake of the thread here.

I just found and bought a complete, boxed copy of Bomberman '93 for $30. Now that's a reasonable price.

Paisa49, if you're real nice I'll re-sell it to you at zero markup.
Wow, what a find! If you're serious about re-selling it, I'd certainly be interested in taking it off your hands. I have been searching ebay for a loose hu card, and I when I found one, I got sniped at the last minute.

Fried plantains and turkey breast . . . mmm :P

I'd be happy with just the Hu Card. I bought a bunch of controllers from TZD, and I'd like another multiplayer game other than dungeon explorer and, the oh so riveting  #-o, motoroader. I'm not a hardcore collector that needs every piece that comes with a game; I just want the game itself.
#122
Nat, are you sure that $28.00 minus the exterior cardboard box was too much? Look at the insane price this game is going for right now:

Quote from: Kitsunexus on 11/14/2007, 03:43 PMDid you hear the one about the TG-16 with a hook for a controller port killing those kids in the woods?
No, but I saw a movie based on that. I think it was called "The Blair Bonk Project." Pud um cha!  :P

Quote from: ccovell on 11/14/2007, 11:20 AMIt's been said the above was one of the reasons for the Turbo being shaped as clumsily as it was, compared to the compact PCE: they had to spread the board out and add shielding for FCC approval.
Maybe that's where the rumor came from, and it also answers a life-long question. I've always wondered why the TG-16 looked so much worse than the PCE.

Being sodomized by a game cartridge does not sound the least bit appealing to me. I think I just threw-up in my mouth.  :?
#126
I know, pretty crazy, but that's why it's a myth. Kids at my school had overactive imaginations way back when.  :-"
#127
Do any of you recall hearing a myth about the Turbografx-16 being a dangerous system because it emitted radioactivity? I remember hearing kids talk about it when I was in school in Florida, but I was curious to see if this myth actually had any legs and reached any of you around the world.
#128
I ordered some TG-16 controllers and a back-up A/C Adapter and RF Switch, and everything came in just fine. I was very happy with my purchase.
#129
I'd get my TG-16 modded, but I've decided to get a Duo-R when I can find one for a good price. Really no point to modding my TG-16 if I can get my hands on a Duo-R. NecroPhile, thanks for posting the prices of that Bomberman auction you saw. That really helps me gauge how much I'm willing to shell out.
#130
I thought '94 was only released for the PC Engine? If there is a Bomberman '94, for the TG-16, what's the fair market value on that?
#131
I just purchased a few more TG-16 controllers, and I'm looking to put them to use by playing one of the Bomberman games. I've always heard that '93 is the best iteration of the Bomberman games for the TG-16. However, after searching through Evil-Bay, it looks to be seriously over-priced. Is this Bomberman that rare of a game? What's the fair market value for this game? Anyone have any extra copies they're willing to sell?

Thanks

If the GP2x can run emulation without having to do any dangerous mods to the system, then it sounds like a no-brainer. I have a TG Express that I love, but the screen is always too small. If I could get a GP2x and install emulation software for various old-school systems, then it sounds like the portable to have. Are there any drawbacks to the GP2x that you could enlighten me on?
#133
I miss Working Designs. They ported over some great games for the Saturn. Dragon Force and Magic Knight Ray Earth were great. For the TG-16, I still play my copy of Parasol Stars.
#134
This GP2x sounds pretty cool. If you can emulate all the old school systems and have them available to play in a portable, where's the drawback in that?

Some of you on this thread mentioned PC Engine/TG-16 emulation on the PSP. Do you have to do a special mod to the PSP to do that? Can't the GP2x run magic engine just as easily as a Personal Computer? I'm not much of a techie, so please pardon my lack of knowledge.

Quote from: nat on 10/26/2007, 11:30 AMI rarely buy anything on eBay anymore because of this. That said, there are still good deals to be found. Why would I buy one of those packages above when I can buy the exact same thing for 1/10th of the cost? Witness:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=200164186360

What's more is this guy had a ton of loose HuCards for sale. I bought a whole bunch of them ranging from $4.99 to $9.99 and I only pay the $5 shipping charge once for the whole lot. In fact, I think that Samurai Ghost card was the only $9.99 title in the batch. Rare deals like these is why I keep my eye on eBay at all anymore. Fact is, this is probably a lot closer to the games' actual values.
I bought some games from that same seller. I was able to snag Dragon's Curse, Parasol Stars, and Air Zonk. I'm hoping my shipment arrives any day now.
#136
Thanks.

I read through some of the instructions, and it seems like the mods are good about keeping emails to a minimum. What have your experiences on the list been like? About how many emails do you average per day from the list?
#137
Quote from: guest on 09/18/2007, 05:10 PMYeah, I'd say that $140 is about the going rate for a Duo-R, though you might get one a little lower here or on the Turbo List.  It's true that Japanese adapters are meant to fed 110 volts, but 120 volts in the US isn't enough to really matter (just more heat, but your mileage may vary).
I thought the Turbo List died out a while back. I may be interested in purchasing a Duo-R, as long as the price is within my budget. I still have my Turbo Grafx 16 and Turbo Express, but I have yet to play any of the multitude of CD-based games that came out for the Duo.
#138
I haven't really seen any Duo-R systems on Ebay for less than $140.00. I know Ebay's prices are inflated, but isn't that the going market rate now without the shipping? Also, if you live in North America, wouldn't the difference in voltage for the AC Adapter cause a problem since this is a Japanese system? Any info is appreciated, so thanks in advance.

The Sega Saturn, hands down.

I checked out the thread, and, apparently, that person isn't selling Dragon's Curse.

Is there anyone on here willing to part with a copy of Dragon's Curse for under $10.00 with shipping included? It can just be the TG-16 hucard.

Let me know.
