No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Your RGB pic kinda gave that away already.  :P
I knew somebody was bound to notice them.  I always forget about them whenever I want to show pictures of other mods.

That repro looks better than the original.  I would say a million dollar

Quote from: Report2Marty on 04/06/2016, 07:04 PMThese are all awesome options!  Thank you so much!  As far as internal mods go, I'm pretty new to the practice..  My experience only goes as far as fixing cold solder points on a master system controller port, and the rgb amp mod for the N64..  Do you feel that this enough experience to perform the internal mod?

Turbokon, that project looks solid!  I'd love to use your photo type in the video game class I'm teaching.  It would be much easier to hook up the tg16 to the lcd's via composite.  How much are you charging for your protos?
Thanks I haven't thought about selling my protos.   This is somethings we might look into later as possibly providing these as kits in the future but I don't know.  We're currently focusing on another project at the moment.  You might check with braap.  We worked on this together.

We actually did a Kickstarter last year for a device that plugs to the expansion bus allowing for component output.  Why Component you ask?  Because most hdtv don't natively take rgb and ours wouldn't need a separate RGB to component transcoder.  Anyway long story short, Kickstarter didn't gain enough support and we had put this project on an indefinite hold.  I have a few protos laying around and great for testing and working on systems with my hdtv set.

Thinking back we should have included RGB output as well.

Confimed, 0.1uf caps will make it start up instantly.
#117
We had some reports from the field of slow start up time when using this rgb amps.  This is due to charging time for the input 10uf caps.  Changing them to 1uf or even 0.1uf will provide a lot faster start up time.  Here is a little video of the psone lcd mod.  This mod uses the rgb amp mod chip.  When I switched out the 10uf capacitors to 1uf, the start up time was significantly faster. I will start shipping these out with the change in caps from now on.

Well that's what the label on the Hu Card says.
Yep that's the game.  Great game btw, the only reason to own the supergrafx imo.

Hehe, looks better with a coregrafx and regular pce tho

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 03/24/2016, 12:49 AMDo you need binoculars to see the screen from way the hell over across a SuperGrafx?
Hehe, actually it's pretty good size at 5".  Even bigger the LT just doesn't look that way on the picture.

Quote from: Keith Courage on 03/23/2016, 10:06 PMNice! May I ask where you got those those black Pin connectors from? I've never been able to find them.
The connector was from one of our retroclarity prototypes that I got from my partner on the project.  I believe you can use the ones from the tenoke bank.

So my Canadian tech brother (Baarp) did this and I said wth, why not

Did you use the patched 3.0 rom that Elmer created here?
No I didn't. I'll look for it.

Fast ship and turbo duo as exactly as described.  Thanks dan

I ordered some of these.  Fast shipping and they look awesome.

I'm using a GQ-4X4 (not the GQ-4X) programmer.   I can't get it to recognized the eeprom using the huprog adapter.  I have loaded all the lines to the customdevice.txt as stated earlier in post.  Has anybody else came also this?

Btw this is my first time flashing an eeprom so it could be a user error.

Here is a video of the original pc-engine region modded with the new obey board running the turbo everdrive with no issue.
#131
Which version obey chip are you using?
#132
Quote from: spawnshop on 02/07/2016, 01:55 PMSo if i understand correctly, the switchless chip does not work on consoles ATM?
I have a US TG16, so i would need to install a switch as well, correct?
That is correct.  It require you ran a wire directly to the select button.  You can't do that on the home consoles.
#133
Quote from: Keith Courage on 02/03/2016, 08:04 PMHow much are they?
Main chip is $18 plus $3 shipping, add $6 for switchless option.

As much as I love Mcwill screens I don't think I am going to ever go back to stock TE.  I just love how big the 3.5" screen looks but I could be proven wrong.

Turbokon are you ever going to offer the internal battery mod as a service?  I know you been busy working on the new obey chip.
I'm afraid not for now. I've been too busy with other projects at the moment.
#135
This is already posted in the sale thread so I apologize for the double post.  I just wanted to make sure people are aware of the new version in case they aren't checking on the sale post.

Thesteve and I made the obey region chip easier to install.  This new chip does not require that you run wires to each hucard slot pin.  It fits directly on the pins for easy slim installation.  Installation time is around 15 to 20 minutes (compared to previous models which could easily take an hour or more).

It wires to the SPDT as normal for home consoles with base of switch to switch soldering pad on new chip, 5v on one end of switch and ground on the other end.The switchless function for the handheld units is now on the same board but requires a couple of additional components.

The key to this install is to cut the 9 pins on hucard slot side really short.
