@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

I think I hit a brick wall. About the soundtest.c file, what program do you use to open it? Currently on my laptop it's an unknown file type which asks me to open from the program list or have the web search for it.

one drawback I won't be able to use Konami's Gradius/Salamander/Twinbee drums

tired of wrestling with triplets on Famitracker and Fruity Loops
If you understand the piano roll of fruity loops, youre like 80% to understanding MML man!

the lengths of the bars of the piano roll translate 1:1 to MML :)  You could type fruityloops stuff right in and be good to go.
Ah ok. For me, it's just a matter of learning to actually put in all that code into a notepad as opposed to piano rolls.

I must've read this a dozen times

Quote from: Senshi on 02/14/2010, 09:27 PMThanks deadite. Great pickup by the way. Here's mine. Double Dragon II for PCE-SCD. I used to play this on nintendo constantly.
Nice! It's a great port, but the music's gotta go. It's annoying hearing a rape victim in stage 1 BGM

PS The man in the middle is the father of actor Blair Underwood (from movies like Krush Groove, and Malibu's Most Wanted. He lives in my area, as Blair went to high school there.

I can't find this one photo of him during his early army days, but when you see it, you'd swear it was me!

I played Megaman 9 on that stick and beat a couple of stages. it was wierd, since I normally play megaman on pad

Quote from: blueraven on 02/08/2010, 10:26 PMMy sincerest condolences. Great video, btw; Your dad was one of the Tuskegee Airmen? Wow.

We did a unit on the Airmen in my African-American History class a few semesters ago. It was taught by a member of the First Air Cavalry. I'm glad they gave him full military honors.
No, he wasn't in the TA, but like your teacher, my dad was a First Cavalry man (yellow shield with the silhouette of a horse, is that right?)

IMG

Instead of wearing a shirt and tie to the funeral, I wore one of his First Cav polo shirts which I was wearing underneath that suede jacket I was wearing in the picture.

As far as the video I posted, it wasn't my dad's funeral, it was just to show an example of how a military funeral works.

Quote from: Joe Redifer on 02/08/2010, 01:43 PMThat's so sad Ninja Spirit.  Did he serve in the military?  I ask because that looks like a military cemetery to me.
Yeah, that's Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC, where most of the Kennedys are.

Because of Iraq and Afghanistan, it took a hella long time for him to get a slot there. (he died 11/30/09)

He was a Captain during the Vietnam War.

I normally hate funerals, but I have to give an exception when full military honors are given.

Finally, a Megaman game that makes an ass out of me on some parts!

I always thought this version was practically unplayable on just two buttons.

When I die, I can't even get off the screen

Changed the name of the thread, as the double meaning around the word "mugs" started to get annoying....

I've been chiptunin' lately, learning to rip sample data from SNES games.

Strider 2 (the REAL strider 2) stg 1 with SNES Capcom samples
Covered PCE City Hunter first stage in MIDI
My number 1 favorite Megaman/Rockman BGM covered with MM7 instruments (and it's not the super hyped up Megaman 2 Wily Castle theme either...)
Override (stage 2) in 8-bit
And some non VG stuff
My condensed cover of Mylo's "Drop the Pressure" with SuperNES instruments

BTW what is up with those Mandara statues???
Seems like Asmik increased their speed and on the other hand taking forever to kill

what really pisses me off though is that the gap between the statues and the electric force field isn't as wide as it was on the arcade, for that, the statues seemingly got the upper hand from the start.

Quote from: Ninja Spirit on 09/24/2009, 02:36 PMY'know despite all the things that were taken out for the PCE port of Shinobi, what is it about it that still makes a cool thing to have in your collection? That's a mystery since the lack of stuff in ports usually turn us off.
What was taken out besides the bonus stage where you get to control a hand that throws shurikens at ninjas?
Quite a bit.

> It's missing a mission. if it were the arcade game, it'd skip from Mission 1 to Mission 3.

> No Shuriken to bullet upgrades

> No close range kick/punch/katana attacks, as a result of that, guarding enemies can make you look like a jackass

Quote from: Ninja Spirit on 09/05/2009, 07:16 PMVery aggravating afternoon today....

Attempted videotaping a no death run at PC Engine Salamander and to put it on Facebook...I was so pissed off being I was so close.

On the last stretch to Zelos blasting away Moai and dodgling the lasers on the floor, I was caught off guard by a stray bullet. All went downhill after that

It's one of those games where even though you know how the game behaves with memorization, it can still set off this certain vibe that something's about to go wrong cause you had to do something differently
That sucks you came close but falled short towards the end.Yeah, with that shooter it can happen compare to a r-type.If you don't memorize the stages in salamander it's game over befor you know it.
It's them pixels....they pull a fast one on your mind

when bullets camouflage themselves with the background and the distracting chaos...

I saw the ending for City Hunter on VGmuseum, which mandates all submissions be from English roms..

I googled and googled for the patch extensively and it's like drawing blood from a rock. obviously they got something to hide...

After a LONG (by far the longest) drought on game buying as a whole...especially PCE/TG wise, I fogured I'd go with something different. :)
Niiiiice scores. :) Is that Far East Of Eden? Which one?
Fu'un Kabuki Den, presumably another variation of the instruction manual cover.

Mine doesn't look like that.

Just made my first Risingstuff.com purchase, which is Famicom Rockman 5. All of a sudden I'm thinking it's worth it to get loose Famicom Rockman cartridges straight from Japan.

eBay is damn ridiculous with those prices when they're off japanese soil.
