10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Does that one have switches to select the source?  Let us know how well it works.

I've been using a generic Hama clone which was something like $15 shipped from Europe a few years ago.  It only has 3 ports.  Seems to work fine and from what I can tell it doesn't introduce any noise or picture degradation.
I don't think it's switched. Can't see anything in picture and not mentioned in description. Unfortunately didn't arrive yesterday and no post today.

I have a couple super cheap ones, I get noise on bright screens. I picked up a Mad Catz one and it works pretty well.
I'm going to give it a test with a wii and a mega drive.  They're the ones I see the most massive improvement with rgb. Also maybe ps1 boot screen is actually a good test too. I think my TV is starting to fall apart keep changing cables.

I'm not sure if I found it too fast paced or not. I think I need to watch it again. No adverts was a big plus though.

Thanks guys. If this csync cable doesn't fix it I'll try the luma. I'm just hoping it is, remedial work would make a bargain less of a bargain.

That would make sense now I think about it. Seller said the s video looked better on his TV than the rgb. Maybe his TV wasn't wired for rgb at all and was just doing composite all along.

It's already been dispatched so should hopefully arrive tomorrow or Saturday.

It's an ntsc model 2, white one. It's a shame, composite is ok but when it's displaying RGB it's so much clearer. Whites are very crisp & clear. I'm hoping it's just the cable has somehow become damaged. The seller says it was ok when last used but he was using s video, which I can't get to work at all.
Quote from: Gypsy on 09/15/2016, 04:14 PMSome model 2s do have issues with rgb scart if you aren't using a Luma cync cable. Maybe that's the problem? If you are already using one with Luma cync, well, disregard. SVideo should just be totally fine though, so there could be a deeper issue, I'm far from an expert though.
I've ordered a cable that's model 2 specific from retrogamingcables.co.uk
Hopefully this will clear it up.

Can any AV experts help? Recently acquired a model 2 saturn. When plugged into RGB scart it flickers and moves slightly to the left. Then goes back. Almost like it is flicking back and forth between rgb & composite. Would this be a grounding issue? When plugged into a composite only scart there are no issues. I have also tried using S video. One one TV it is a red green and blue mess that scrolls from the left and on another there is no picture.

Don't forget chaps, the TV broadcast is next week. But if you can't wait and you're in uk, or pretend to be behind some shady vpn, you can watch it tomorrow. http://www.reddwarf.co.uk/news/2016/09/09/xi-on-play/

Wtf is something wrong with a lot of people or wrong with me. Why do people take what goes on in the interwebs so seriously.
1. I get a message in my psn inbox calling me a fucking asshole from some unknown for what they perceive to be underperforming in an uncharted 4 multiplayer game.
2. Someone on tweeter posts that their computer has broken and to send hugs. Sent message that I was sending hugs from a working PC and this woman starts calling me an asshole to all and sundry.
3. Sometimes people can't seem to take a light hazing on here.
Is the world mentally deficient or am I an asshole?
Yes I also realise that perhaps by posting this I myself may be taking this too seriously.

Quote from: guest on 08/22/2016, 09:54 AMI love me some Red Dwarf, though I'm sure I'll have a good long wait 'til it's available (legally) in the US.

I definitely disagree about 'em getting progressively worse, though, seeing as the last series was far better than the couple before it.

"Jesus!"

"Yes?"
The DVDs can be had for less than £1 per series second hand. I could collect them up and send them over in exchange for a shitty game or something if you wanted.

I disagree in part. I & II are very different to the rest. They create the sense of isolation very well. I do enjoy them but V & VI are comedy masterpieces.
VII is toilet.
While we're on the revival train I'm excited for new das boot mini series coming.

I prefer sitting on the floor. I hardly ever sit on the sofas in the living room. I sit or lay on a nice rug. In the bedroom floor space is limited so I lay on my bed to game / watch DVDs.

Quote from: guest on 08/09/2016, 12:51 PMDiesel?  Whatever it is, it's dang nice mileage.... way better than the ~17 I get tooling around town in the mullet chariot.
Yes it's diesel. 1.5 litre 3 cylinder BMW B37 engine. Personally I'm not a diesel fan, I prefer driving a petrol, but it's a company lease and was cheapest to get.
#298
Well the difference is 20% so it's not that hard to compare. 56 us mpg. Basically everything to do with a road is imperial. Anything sold in a shop is by litres and kilograms. I wouldn't call it cheating as it's still the same amount of fuel however you count it. I prefer metric anyway. 4l/100km
#299
