Would be very hard. You'd need not only a decent amount of skill in programming but would be very fluent in Japanese as the literature is pretty much exclusively Japanese. Then you've got the very hard task of tracking down the literature itself, getting a working system etc. Also, the fact that the PC-FX wasn't extensively programmed for means that you'd have to do a hell of a lot of work yourself.

Still, the system has been emulated by Western programmers, so theres hope yet.

Just to let people know my PC98 has been sold now.

If people really want a PC-98 they're plenty cheap and abundant on yahoo japan auctions. Use a proxy bidding service like shopping mall japan etc to bid on them. There are quite often ones with the pcfxga installed on them too, though its possible that the seller will wipe the hdd, meaning you'll have to reinstall windows/pcfxga software. Also, there are two versions of the PC-FXGA for PC-98 - the regular C-bus (usually the desktop/IBM PC lookalikes) and the FX-98IF for CanBe machines (usually the less generic boxes).

Didn't recieve any PM mate! I've got another chap who its currently on hold for pending payment anyway, but i'll let you know if that deal falls through.

Good luck with it. Installing the card itself isn't that hard but using it is! The Gmaker tools do work quie well though.

I have a PC-9821 Xa13 with the PC-FXGA installed (And the Sega Saturn controller adapter card!), but I need to get round to reinstalling Windows..its under the big pile of stuff to do.

In fact if anyone wants to buy it, I'd be happy to sell it on as I just don't have time for this stuff anymore

price updated - $25 shipped to the US or £16 posted in the UK
#7
Still available.

Just to let everyone know, there aren't any rips/holes etc anywhere on the poster. Just a few light creases here and there at the edges.
#8
Forgot I didn't put the picture in!

IMG

Doom PS1/Castlevania MSX are for sale too  :P
#9
20 1/2 inches by 28 1/2 inches. Nice condition, few creases around the edges and so on, but nothing drastic for its age. Doesn't have any pin holes. As you see its certainly a nice poster if you like anime girls! Obviously pretty rare too, don't see many PC-FX posters around.

Looking for $25 shipped to the US or £16 posted in the UK (I am in the UK) or trades - am after PS1/2 or saturn shmups or shmup related memorabilia or  any PC Engine games I don't have - list here - http://www.pcedaisakusen.net/2/34/110/show-collection.htm

Cheers

Thanks Everyone for driving traffic to my auction.  I have not responded because its funny watching you morons make fools of yourselves.  Having an ebay auction with 1000 views in a week is the best thing a seller can ask for.
Personally I thought the best thing was people bidding on it. Still, theres time for me to be corrected.
#14
I've put my PC-FX collection on ebay, unfortunetly I'm moving next week and this won't fit in the new place.

Theres also graduation 2 & Deep Blue Fleet and a NEW PC-FX controller in my other auctions.

I've got a couple on ebay if you fancy mate. Shipping to the US would be £6 I reckon, if your located there.

Bump.
As the originally interested parties haven't replied to PMs I'll probably chuck this on ebay tomorrow unless someone really wants it.

'The best set up for a pcfxga' - well there are three different sorts of setups -

PC-FXGA DOS/V - for PC/AT - its a VERY long ISA board, so you will need a motherboard & case that will accomodate it, DOS and a cd-rom drive. The installation process is documented on Sabre's blog here: http://sabre470.wordpress.com/pc-fxga/

PC-98 PC-FXGA - C-BUS slot - its a double stacked board, but will go in any C-BUS slot. Requirements - a PC-98 (01 or 21)with at least: 486 (33mhz or above) CPU, a CD-ROM drive, Harddrive and DOS 3.3 with the CD-ROM extensions ver 2.2 or above or Win 95.

PC-98 PC-FXGA - Canbe - similar to the PC-98 version, but fits the canbe range of PC-98s as the c-bus slots differ, such as the PC-9821 Cr-13. Presumeably same specs as the regular PC-98.

I have a PC-9821 Xa13 with the PC-FXGA installed, but I need to get round to getting a replacement CD-ROM drive for it.

Box dimensions in CM:

39x20x31

I guess it weighs about 6-8KG but I don't have any scales to check.

I have the Xevious board game. Tried it a while ago and from what I remember it was very complicated...
#20
Well, I'm thinking £140 for the lot as everything really is in mint condition (I bought it from new and only took it out of the box to play with it due to lack of space).
#21
If you don't have the cash I can always do trades!

Ebay feedback: http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=oli_lar&ftab=AllFeedback&sspagename=STRK:ME:UFS
(Ignore the one fool who left neg because I recycle packaging....)

I'm also known as a trusted seller on Assemblergames and Retrogamer.co.uk. Have traded a few times on here before, most recently was the Rom2 Amp a while ago.

Anyway, first of all:

IMG

PC-FX (Fully Boxed, mint condition, with all plastic bags, manuals etc)

Mouse
Memory Card
Controller

Includes these 8 games, all are boxed/in mint condition:

Everything really is in mint condition, its an ideal collectors start up package.

Also, I have two spare copies of Deep Blue Fleet and Graduation 2.

Will accept cash or trades for PC Engine stuff, though it must be in good condition.

Am based in the UK but willing to ship worldwide, at cost.

Most of the Falcom games have lots of lovely extras like books, mouse mats, pictures etc with them and are in very good condition. Ideal if there are any Falcom collectors out there as I guess these are pretty hard titles to get in the West.

Picked up my package the other day, cheers mate!

Tell SMJ to use SAL in the future then  #-o
#33
I've seen plenty of gears like that in CD mechanisms before, its probably a standard part.
Take dimensions and send them to a gear expert. Also i'm sure that one could be made for a mass custom order....
#34
How much are they asking just for shipping?

I use SMJ alot and find their shipping very reasonable, although I do use SAL. EMS will be a lot more expensive.
#36
Your based in Denmark? How much is shipping to the UK then?

All LD games were crap. MSX LD, Laseractive, Arcade LDs...boring!

I took mine apart a while back, just for kicks. Theres a lot of shielding and plastic in there you'd need to remove in order to put a PC in it.

Assemblers already got one I think.

No takers? I'm toying with the idea of putting it on ebay, though if anyone wants to pay later I can put it in storage until they can pay. Its not the money I need, its the space!

Good to know I've enlightened a few then!

I bought it with a view to putting up a few details of this obscure item (Don't think there are any pics at all on internet - at least not on english sites) So the offers still there if anyone can host the pics/info. Just a pity I have no scanner to scan the manuals.

It looks like it was intended to be used as a karaoke machine, as well as amp, for PCE karaoke games (are there any?)

I don't know if other PCE models sit on top in the plastic holders as I've only ever had the briefcase system. Are they similar dimensions?

I'm thinking of trading for it so if you think you have a worthwhile offer just let me know...would quite like a Duo RX and games, or a X68000 depending on model  :-k

BTW price may be negotiable, I set the price as that because I've no comparisons, don't think many have been sold in the West before..

Hi, I've not been on in a while (studying, moving etc - life!) so sorry my 1st post back is this, but I thought it would be a shame if you peeps on here missed it.

Its a shame but space requires that I sell some of my collection. Latest cut is my PCE ROM2 Amp. I bought it from new (sealed) and have only taken it out to have a bit of a play with it and test it (sounds pretty good with the briefcase on it!) and take photos etc.

Box is in fair-good condition apart from where someone has put tape on the opening. Corners are mostly free from crushing and the sides are pretty much dent free. All plastic baggies and cable ties etc are there.

Obviously pretty rare, don't think theres been one on ebay before? And I've not seen many on YJ.

Pics: Lots of big pics so beware!

If you want any more pics let me know.

Looking for £100 PPD in the UK, though I'm open to offers. Collection from Sheffield possible and will knock a bit off the price. Will deliver everywhere else but will need to stick a bit of shipping on top of that depending on the postal method of choice. I think Shipping to the US will probably be £130.

Checkout my ebay for my good feedback and the PAL TG 16 I've got on ebay. http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZoli_lar

Also posted on Assembler forums so 1st offer I recieve gets it.

Don't think there are any decent pics of a ROM Amp on the net so if the mod wants I can donate the rest of them for the Site's gallery?

Anyway if there are no takers, enjoy the pics at least  :-({|=

Cheers!

PC-FX Discussion / GMAKER
06/04/2007, 09:19 AM
A friend of mine has uploaded the image of the Gmaker CD to Wikifortio - http://www.wikifortio.com/489359

My friend isn't too familiar with ISOs and that kind of stuff, he tells me he used "Roxio Creator" to do it so the image may or may not be compatable with everyone else's programs. He also took an Image using Alcohol 120% which made a MDF and MDS files so could upload them if anyone is interested. I'm sure if anyone suggests any other free ISO burning programs then he could do it with that.

Gmaker is a SDK/collection of tools for the PC-FX which is pretty rare, so perhaps this could be of use to some people or just to have a play with.
Compatable with "MS-DOS Ver6.2, Ver5.0A, Windows 3.1 and Windows 95." Presumably the DOS/V and Win/V versions of DOS and 3.1. (Windows 95 > is truely multilingual) Works on Vista so presumably works on 98, 2000, XP etc.

Taken from http://sabre470.wordpress.com/pc-fxga/

QuoteIn 1996 NEC released GMAKER which is a full blown Software Development Kit making possible for enthusiast and/or professionals to develop PC-FX/GA games, here is the official statement from NEC at the time:

"During fiscal year 1996, NEC made further progress in the development of multimedia products...

NEC introduced the GMAKER STARTER KIT software, which, when used with the PC-FXGA game accelerator board, enables the development of software for the PC-FX, NEC's 32-bit video game unit. Providing all the technology and information necessary for anyone with a PC to develop their own software, the kit has opened up to individuals an area previously limited to specialist software houses."

To be fair the only copies I have seen have been on ebay. How did you get yours?

I've thought about using a shopper for Yahoo JP but am going to wait until I get a fair bit of money together in order to put  larger order in to keep the costs down.
