Mike  -  just spent the last half hour drinking red wine and going over your webpage -   LOVE IT!    If I didn't make that clear before.  Love the lay out (I am a sucker for the low tech..), everything.   I think it's the best thing to happen to PC Engine gaming since I've been away.  Thanks for giving me a kick in the ass to start playing games again.

customer service is everything

your business won't last without it !

especially a niche such as this one - you NEED repeat customers!   You need people to go straight to you for their product (especially when you have a fucking warehouse full of it!) , not use you as a last resort.

RedFrog sucked from the very beginning.  Personally I hope the guy looses his shirt.  :-({|=

If the dude selling this were smart he'd show that front cover..       would love that printed full color on a black tee -  DEAD OF THE BRAIN  - you'd be hard pressed to find a smarter looking shirt than that.

Great work, Hegelson!   Cheers for putting that Vigilante JP cover up front and center - I love that artwork !  Seeing cool imagery like that will bring some of the right people into the system and what it's got to offer.    That "Turbo Time" poster is way cool too - about the best I've ever seen Zonk!  Look at those tonsils!!!
#5
I can't say a word for the game play but that game has some of the coolest artwork of the PCE/TG16 , hands down.  It's also bloody rare as all hell !

Any of the kings/experts on here ever actually play it ?
#6
yeah and they stopped putting those gristley grey specks in the chicken nuggets!!  wtff!??

hmm.. hair..  touchy subject.   Mine is a bit see-through (on top especially)  and then a lot like a bristle brush or something too.  It's a pain in the arse.   I shaved my head every other week from about 1993 to 2005 but since then I'm letting it all hang out.  Much happier this way.  I am really starting to wonder what the ladies think ...

Hello boys !

Punches and Acids are great for beginners.   Keranu -  you know I've maybe smoked 10 cigars my whole life - you are thee man - not me.  I actually had to all-but quit when I started working out -  got tired of clearing my throat and coughing repeatedly on the ol' elliptical!   Yes, I'm a sell out.    Sometimes when it's a nice sunny day out I do miss it though - especially if I've got a good magazine or something to flip through.  STILL thumbing through those old Fangorias I found a couple of months ago!

I know I haven't been on the board for months !!   I got stuck watching spaghetti westerns - it's all I do !  Tons of tough ass cool guys smoking cigars in those movies btw.

I don't say shit about myself to anybody until they ask.

hey Spark -   count me in for a "small set"  when you get around to it - no rush.   Thanks!

OMG I had no idea the seller of that ridiculous auction lot actually joined the forums!! ROFL

electrohaze if you are looking for a bottom feeder to clean up what's left after you've sold the more serious games to the more serious collectors pls do not hesistate to contact me

yeah!!   This was *MY TIME*    I was a big fan -  had a couple paperback books even.

I actually don't think some of their better songs are all that bad.  "My Favorite Girl"  is probably my fave.

I remember my cousin having their first album and I thought it sounded crazy,  just completely wacky and bizarre.  I asked for it for Christmas one year and got the NKOTB Christmas album instead (which blew).
#14
hmm  yeah he's right ..   you can find a lot with a system and anywhere from 10-30 games multiple times a month these days.  That's whatcha do.

I can really love a good golf game.  I forget the name of the game I played back in my first run of video game hobby (circa '86-'92) but it was an entirely lost memory (now a foggy memory) until the Neo Geo fell into my lap with it's two funny and cute golf games.
It's a shame the Turbo doesn't have a real gem of a golf game of it's own (but we DO have WCT/FLT).  Could you imagine a post-Magical Chase golf game by Quest in '93? (akin to the Turf Masters/Metal Slug thing on the Geo)

The Turbo really ended on a high note..  If they could've just hung in there for a few more titles there's a good chance we'd have one or a few more age-defying classics.

hmm..  if I may

Air Zonk 12, Aero Blasters 5   ...  This is a toughie.  I'm not much of a Zonk fan but AB is just sooo difficult.  it's a toss up.  Both games have some great tunes (atleast the first two in AB that I've set ear to).
Dragon's Curse 9, Dynastic Hero 5 ...  Easily DC.
Rondo of Blood 17, Lords of Thunder 11 ... pass
Ninja Spirit 19, Splatterhouse 9 ... This is a great pairing of games.  I guess on any given day I'm more of a Splatterhouse man
Super Star Soldier 15, Dragon Spirit 3 ... Probably SSS although I'm not sure why. I don't love it.  Dragon Spirit is a good game but..
Dungeon Explorer 18, The Legendary Axe 13 ... DE.  I love Axe but 99% of the time I leave it frustrated.
Altered Beast 11, Batman 8 ... I haven't been fortunate enough yet to play either. (of course I played AB on the Gen in the day)
Soldier Blade 16, JB Harold 6 ... It must be Soldier Blade !  I'm saving JB for after I go sXe.   ;)

hey Scum Bum!  Welcome !

good question.  Let me recommend some games I think you'll like:

Fantasy Zone
Blazing Lasers
World Court Tennis / Final Lap Twin (which appeals to you more , tennis or racing? Both games are excellent sports-RPGs!)
Parasol Stars
Cadash

if you want to hear about CD games , let me know !       - MD

oh - he's from MONROEVILLE, PA..  home of The Monroeville Mall where DAWN OF THE DEAD takes place!  Safe to assume he is UNDEAD then.

Don't miss his completed auctions either ,  with a picture of his cat and his old stuffed crab.

best advice to give someone on here re: Neo Geo ... It's nothing like the Turo Grafx.  apples & oranges - both are fruit

If you guys haven't taken a look at this ABSURD ACT OF POST MODERN COMEDY THEATER you've got a cpl hours left to do so.  You may even be able to score some overpriced PC Engine bootlegs (or what appears to be an actual Ai Cho Ainiki!).   Don't miss laughs like the desk fan, the underwear, or my fave "Used Mens Black Shoes" (a pair of white sneakers shown)... "My used pair of shoes. I dont need them. Do you?"

Happy Birthday Wind.   May 31 = my birthday too.

great review, TurboStar.   I had a good time playing OotG when I gave it a go as well.  Took me an entire day just to get started. I couldn't make it beyond that dungeons with the red/blue pools..  it was just so crazy hard for me I figured I had no chance of making it after that. I will say I had a ton of fun setting up my characters and basically learning how to play, though.  The battles can be really fun, too.
#23
I saw that auction too - I was aghast!   That PCE is FILTHY!   It's funny how clueless this guy is - and he's just dyin' to meet another clueless dude with  $380 to waste on that pile of crap.

Lochlan = hilarious!  you found his myspace LOL

internet is a crazy place these days...

good going..  250 dollars in any currency (well, in many currencies) is a high price for a video game.   Good to see you were patient and paid half as much.   In my eyes "250" is begging to be taken down to "200"  - I'm a big negotiator.
#25
anyone going to show some skin anytime soon ??

Sengoku is the most atmospheric video game I've ever played.   I agree it's primitive but I don't necessarily always consider that a bad thing.  Outside of the amazing graphics and general design of the game , the actual game play is damn good.  It's stiff just like all of the other Neo Geo games from this era - but I think using the joystick to swing your sword around  and clearing the screen of the enemy is fun as hell. The game is brilliant, in my opinion. Genius.  I love it.  I love the graphics btw.

I can't wait to play the sequals, which graphically look awesome but don't have the same bleak/psychotic/heavenly/hallucinatory look as the first.

Magician Lord is cool and even though I don't like it as much as I hoped (yet) I won't call it disappointing (yet).  but it sure is tough as balls! :o

Good for you, Joe,  writing those companies like that back then!   I bet you were a cool little kid.
#28
payment sent for YB   thanks !

In my opinion, the best reasons to get a Neo Geo are:  SENGOKU, SAMURAI SHODOWN II and THE ART OF FIGHTING.
From there you've got WINDJAMMERS, METAL SLUG, BASEBALL STARS 2, NEO TURF MASTERS, BLUE'S JOURNEY (I guess), LAST RESORT, BUST A MOVIE (AGAIN), MAGICIAN LORD, NAM 1975...    With one or two exceptions those are all cheapies (atleast on an MVS) - this group as a whole is pretty much the best early 90s creme to waste your time with outside of the TG.

Quote from: Joe Redifer on 05/28/2008, 03:06 AMIn all incarnations of Street Fighter II that I can recall, it is always shown as Street Fighter II'.  Why?  Somebody really needs to go to Japan and teach them English.
It's not all incarnations of Street Fighter II.  The only games to use the "dash" are Street Fighter II' (more popularly known in the US as "Champion Edition") and Street Fighter II': Hyper Fighting (a.k.a. Turbo).  The other titles in the series just contain "Street Fighter II", without the apostrophe.

I can't come up with a specific example off the top of my head, but IIRC I've seen the "dash" before in other Japanese titles. [Edit: one does come to mind now -- Street Fighter Zero 2', the home port of Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha with a few changes  :P]

As for why the apostrophe is called a "dash" by Japanese people -- who knows.
damn Lochlan you are one informed mUthafucka!!!

so Joe - do you like the Neo Geo then or not ?   Do you enjoy the games ?

I do .. but it's no Turbo Grafx.  They are similar in some superficial ways but the games feel worlds apart.    Hard to explain.   For awhile I was playing 10 TG16 games a day,  just stuffin' em in and rippin' em out and having a good time but with the Neo it's better to leave the cartridge in and pound away.  I'm stuck on Art of Fighting - I just love it.  (Talk about a game that feels like a true classic).  The games deliver more when you stick with them.     I dunno - maybe you'd say that's true of the Grafx as well.    Compare Shadow of the Beast and Magician Lord. d-d-d-d-Do it - NOW !

damn, that's a great find!!    Does it fit ?     What an awesome shirt.

ugh,  only one !??!  IMPOSSIBLE !@

OK..  I won't twist your arm..  but I think if you know what games are hits and misses I think you'll do fine !   There's always eBay as a last resort if you can't move the titles here (unlikely!) - but I understand the travel involved makes it cumbersome. ah well, I tried!   I'm gonna go look under a rock now for some cheap PCE games.

I got to try out that switch for the first time last night - can honestly say it does not degrade the signal AT ALL.   recommended to anybody out there who needs a good system juggler.   tiny bump for sparky

good choices - Perfect Strangers used to crack me up.

hey Esteban, your name doesn't reference that movie EVILSPEAK does it ?

great collection - especially if those games are in keeper-condition. someone here has GOT to win it!  DO IT !
#41
hahaha,  gotta love the humping dog pictures..
#42
if you have the time / inclination you should consider opening up a little business!!  You could buy them for $2,  resell from $5-$15 depending on the title/condition and I bet you'd do quite well!  For sure you'd make some nice contacts.  We need an outlet for inexpensive PCE games now that the whole Dean thing is what it is. I know I for one would be intersted in buying maybe 10 games at once on my first visit.  Think about it ! If you're a serious PCE fan and it's worth the little bit of time that would go into it you can't loose !
#43
IMO more than likely the music was just ripped off as opposed to the same composer submitting the same exact thing.  just a hunch.  I could be wrong.
#44
oh man - I'm jealous !!!!!!!
#45
awesome memories - that's fucking cool !!

you guys know that portable CD players of this era are big bucks these days, right??   look on eBay..
#46
haha,  butt cheeks.  it took me the longest time to figure out how to scoot under stuff !!   I never touch a manual  until I have to !
#47
I like it a lot !  I wish the Hucards had the game's logo printed in that black area - that looks awesome!
#48
VII is a perfectly good game. I don't understand why it gets dogged so much.  I had a good time with that one.
#49
After a good year of playing the US titles I know I cannot wait to dive into the Japanese games !!

no region mod is required to play your standard import standard and Super CD games.
I assume you'd need one to play any of the Arcade Card games but I can't tell you for sure as I'm not quite there yet !   Hate the idea of making my ultra cool US 3.0 card obsolete!
