10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Snort blow? What do you mean?

Thanks for the comments. To answer the question on printing .. that's up to you. A glossy paper for flyers is what I've used and it works well. Laser printers will not have the sheen that an inkjet will. As far as size .. it should be size properly to print, fold and insert .. but as with most things you may need to adjust it slightly to the specific printer and/or case you're using.

Here's a link to a nifty little tray card I made for the 4-in-1 CD. Hope you guys enjoy!

Thanks a lot everyone, all good advice that makes sense.

Is there a resource that shows what the value of Turbo systems, games, etc. are? I know Ebay likes to jack up the prices .. so was just curious if there was somewhere to see what we really should be paying for these items.

So i've been reading up on the Turbo EverDriver and it sounds awesome ... but there is one thing no one mentions ... do games come already on the EverDrive? I've never used emulators or anything of the sort, so clueless how this sort of stuff works.
#7
Where can I find Mr. Courage?

The time has come for me to have all the caps replaced on my US Duo and while that's being done I'd like to have a video mod done for at least S-Video or Component. Who is doing these now and has a good rep? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've always wanted to have a clean rip of this to use on my cell phone, however it's not on any of the audio tracks from the CD. The strange thing is the applause is, but not Bonk. Any ideas where it might be hidden on the CD and how to extract it?

please show us the guts of this mod. pretty please  :D

Jackie Chan's Action KungFu ... laugh if you will, but it's a solid platformer and I love it!
Military Madness ... classic military strat. game that is pretty fun and has some great music.
Somer Assault ... a very different platformer that's unique.

It was around 1991 and I would always play the TG-16 setup at the Toys R Us here.
Finally the price for the base turbo went down to $99 and that did it for my mom, she purchased one for me.
Soon after Toys R Us begin clearing out their stock and I grabbed a Turbo Express and games.
Then I got an offer in the mail from TTi about trading in your TG-16 for a Duo for a small fee.
My awesome mom once again agreed and we did the trade. I still have all of it to this day.

Zeta is right, Nec is for sure a successful company. They have for years now developed and licensed their products to be sold under another name. In a way it's sad, but it's probably the smart move to keep the company making money and not going out of business.

wow. this is just awesome. can't wait to hear this guys stories.

Welcome to the Turbo Family! I've been out of the game myself for a while and need to work on completing my US game collection.
#16
snap these up boys and girls. worth every penny .. plus sparky is a great dude  =D>
#17
just checked out all the reviews .. they were great! glad to see someone putting some time and effort into reviewing some Turbo games.
#18
does anyone know if there are any stencils for Bonk or the TG16 logo/font?
if not .. is anyone here skilled with making stencils?
I want to make a custom face plate for my xbox 360 that has a turbo theme
any help would be much appreciated. thanks!

why would this be cost prohibitive?

Quote from: nat on 03/04/2008, 07:55 PMPossible, but cost-prohibitive.

I vote for DEII, this game rocks hard core! Everything about just made me love it! I ordered mine from TZD and was told it was out of stock, then about 3 days later it came in the mail. I was soooo happy!!

Bomberman '93 - this would be the runner up. such a great game but really depends on multi-player to get the full effect.
Bonk's Big Adventure - sadly I feel this is the worst in the series and it was starting to loose it's magic.
lords of thunder - never was a fan of the shooter. it was ok to me.

Dungeon Master - never played this game
Exile: Wicked Phenomenon - never played this game
Legend Of Hero Tonma - never played this game
Magical Chase - never played this game

same here nat. anyone know if it's possible.
#22
I have the same problem .. but mine is the AV cable. Does anyone know if there is a component mod for the Duo?
#23
I vote for Jackie Chan as this was the first game I got for my TG-16. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this game! The music is so groovy and it's just a fun, well put together game. Come on people, Air Zonk doesn't stand a chance against Mr. Chan  :)

Jackie Chan's Action Kungfu

I bought a 360 just for the Dungeon Explorer game they previewed and have since been wondering where it's at

I just recently downloaded this game and find it to be quite fun.
The online aspect brings a whole new level of play.
Just wondering if anyone else here had downloaded this game.
#27
man! PC Gaijin has all the tips for MM! If only I could work my units to do what he says, I guess im just not a very good gamer.
#28
Jackie Chans Action Kung-Fu is one of my absolute favs for the turbo. I think it's a great game!
#29
this is for sure one of my favorite games for the turbo. I have never beaten the game, but I usually have a tough time beating any game, I do wish that Hudson will release these for the Wii with wi-fi play so that I can try my hand at kickin some booty online.
#30
what is this dark ending your speak of? you tube video anyone?
#31
when's part 2 of the interview going to be posted?
#32
the idea sounds cool, but to be honest it's hard to image what it would look like when you really don't know. maybe posting a sample drawing of your idea or something of that sort would illicit more of a responce.
#33
I threw my duo cables away ... I was not getting any picture or sound from them.
#34
guess this is one that has everyone stumped
#35
not really wanting to mod my Duo, would like to keep it pure. Any other suggestions anyone?
#36
hey everyone ... just wanted to know if anyone knew of a good A/V cable to use with the Duo. My original one crapped out on me and I purchased one from Turbo Zone, however the one they sell fits loosely into the A/V socket and I have to position it just right so that the picture and sound don't scramble. Anyone have any luck from any other place?
#37
download the plug-in, followed the directions and nothing works. is there anyways that there are MP3's of these tracks?
#38
couldn't figure out how to download the plug-in ... didn't see a link and I don't speak japanese or french (i think those were the two languages) any help would be much appreciated
#39
how do i get those music files on your website? i would love to have the soundtrack to jackie chan on my computer. is there any way to get it in MP3 format?
#40
graphics wise there is a huge difference. the TG-16 version is much prettier.
#41
This was the first game I owned for my TG-16 (besides Keith Courage which came with the system). I remember I got a TG-16 when Toys R Us was clearing them out and I had originally selected Pac-Land as my first game but they were out of stock. I'm very glad they were as this game ROCKS! What does everyone else think of this game? I'd like to hear what others say about it. On a side note I love the music for this game, I can still hear the tunes in my head.
#42
give me a shout my felllw richmond turbo gamer
#43
anyone has the wav or mp3 for download? when i visit the page it simply shows a real audio player and that stuff messes with my sound card majorly.
#44
I have a Legendary Axe II mug ... it's pretty cool.

Hey Trapjaw ... I tried to IM you last night. I also live in Richmond, VA and love me some Turbo Grafx / Duo. Give me a shout sometime.
#46
my duo's CD cover has never popped all the way up, I didn't know it was suppose to do that.
#47
to tell you the truth, i don't remember. the odds were 50/50 so one of us always came out right lol
#48
final lap twin is SOOOO much fun! i remember my cousin and i when we were back in middle school would race with the names 'School' & 'No School' if it was snowing or something and whom ever won that was what was to happen the next day.
#49
China Warrior is the worst! Pac-Land does have the option to change the controls to a more normal setup. I also think Impossamole is pretty bad.

I need a nice scan or picture of a Turbo Chip. I tried scanning one of mine, but it comes out with shadows. I noticed Aaron had some on his site, but they are mixed with other pictures and are a bit small. Can anyone help?
