The last year for new releases in the US.  Did they save the best for last?

Nazi NecroPhile

I pick Bomberman '93.

I don't know about that, but they certainly didn't save a bunch of crappy filler for the last hurrah.  Every one of those title is awesome, or at the very least solid.

Bomberman '93, it freaking rules gameplay wise, and has an AWESOME techno remix of the battle theme (which is better on SNES, sorry Turbo fans!).
Forgive me, my brain is on par with the Bubble System.

Went with Magical Chase, i like the gameplay allot, it also has good music and the best graphics in a hucard.

Sheesh! And I thought the other polls were hard to decide on. This is killer.  :-k All those games are pretty nice and definitely worth owning, however, I haven't played most of them so I'll just be voting based on video clips and whatnot. It's really down to Bonk III, DE II, Magical Chase, and Bomberman '93. Bonk III gets kudos for introducing some much needed new features - i.e. the two player mode is a cool feature. DE II, from what I've heard, takes what could be considered the best HuCARD and makes it even better - expanded worlds, more detailed graphics, cinemas, more characters to choose from, etc... Bomberman '93 I've heard is the best of the series and from what I've seen I have to agree. It looks like a blast. Though I'm curious to know if it's fun to play if you're by yourself.  :-k As for Magical Chase, well it looks fantastic, not only compared to the PCE version, but just overall. It looks like a Super CDROM2 game.

To make my decision I'm going to pretend someone is offering me one of these games for free (ignoring collector value). I think I would have to take DE II. Dungeon Explorer is sweet, so DE II must be mind bogglingly good. In the end, you can't shake a stick at any of these titles.

Actually, I believe you could. They wouldn't jump up and bite you, you wouldn't get zapped by lightning, no angry mob is going to come to your door, you'd just look like an idiot waving a stick around, that's all.

It's fun to play by yourself, but '94's story mode is more varied and has better maps than '93's story mode.

I chose magical chase! It was a tough choice though. I wanted to choose bonk3 for its platforming wonder, but the shooter fan in me prevailed dominant.

Lords of Thunder??

Big daddy is missing on the list, how the hell could LOT not be included!!????

Definately Lords of Thunder

And technically bonk 3 CD was the last US Turbo release ever- and I got mine December of 1994- the day it came out @ TZD, or 1-800-DUO-THIS

Damn I still miss that site...... #-o
Jossshhhhh...Legendary TurboTrollX-16: He revenge-bans PCE Developers/Ys IV Localizers from PCE Facebook groups and destroyed 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner (extortion/blackmail!), never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

T2KFreeker

Bonk 3 dude. There you have it, the boy still kicks ass.
END OF LINE.

Joe Redifer

I got my Bonk 3 CD from TZD as well.  Hell, that was the ONLY place you could get them.  I rocked them $50.00 plus $20 shipping and handling (might have been significantly less, can't remember) and then I rocked to Bonk 3 CD.  I swear if you combined all of the times I have played that game, it would add up to less than an hour.  What a turd.  Big Bonk and Little Bonk annoy me.

CrackTiger

Dungeon Explorer II, even though I'm a huge Bomberman '93 fan.

$20 s&h!!  jeeezus!!  I guess you won in the long run though huh.

I voted Bonk 3.  I love most of those games though.  Hero Tonma I don't know much about.

Bonk 3, no contest. I was never really much of a Dungeon Explorer fan anyways, and Magical Chase, despite all its hype, just isn't my ball of wax. Exile II, for as great as the music sounds and the story rocks, plays like dog shit and everyone knows it. The rest...meh. Bomberman '93 is pretty decent but nothing special to me, and I don't have my experience with Dungeon Master or LOHT so I can't say much about them. And even if Lords Of Thunder were to make this list, Bonk 3 is still the better game...though barely. 2 player simultaneous Bonk action gives it the edge.

Bomberman '93, but I would change it to Lords of Thunder if available.

RuninRuder

Dungeon Explorer II.  I like Tonma, which is more than I can say for most of these, so it's a distant second.  Lords would've been a much closer second if it were available as an option.

I don't care for Exile II, Bonk 3, or Magical Chase, and I haven't played Bomberman '93 or Dungeon Master yet.

BigT

The Turbo is what got me hooked on Bomberman... at the time it was released, Bomberman '93 brought so many enhancements over the original in terms of multiplayer action to make it my favorite game of '93.

Despite the poll options, I'm just sticking to HuCards for voting purposes, since not all CD releases are represented.  In this case, Bomberman '93 slightly edges out Bonk III, which was also a great game.

VestCunt

Where are all of the other 93 games?  Why are these lists so inaccurate?
I'm a cunt, always was. Topic Adjourned.

sideshow

This is a toughy.  I had fun doing 5 people multiplayers with both Bomberman 93 and Dungeon Explorer 2 back when they came out.  I'm going with Bomberman 93 though cause the funfactor is just a little bit higher.

OceanBlueKirby

A tough choice between Bomberman '93 and Magical Chase, but I have decided to pick Bomberman '93 for this. It was the game where, when viewing its ending, that I had discovered that the PC Engine was known as the TurboGrafx-16 in the US, after all, and it is considered to be my favorite Bomberman game.

Of course, as a few others have mentioned before, a few other titles such as Lords of Thunder and even Super Air Zonk are missing from this list. Was Bomberman '94 released in the US? I have some conflicting information on this.

On Genesis only, you are correct.

Why aren't the other 93 releases in there?  Everyone has a personal favorite.  This list shouldn't be to a few specific games.  I did however vote for Dungeon Explorer II.  It was a tough decision since there are nice games in the list.  I personally wanted to vote for Lords of Thunder.

OldRover

If you guys had been following the survey trend, you'd already know why the rest of the releases for that year aren't included.

I vote for DEII, this game rocks hard core! Everything about just made me love it! I ordered mine from TZD and was told it was out of stock, then about 3 days later it came in the mail. I was soooo happy!!

Bomberman '93 - this would be the runner up. such a great game but really depends on multi-player to get the full effect.
Bonk's Big Adventure - sadly I feel this is the worst in the series and it was starting to loose it's magic.
lords of thunder - never was a fan of the shooter. it was ok to me.

Dungeon Master - never played this game
Exile: Wicked Phenomenon - never played this game
Legend Of Hero Tonma - never played this game
Magical Chase - never played this game
always looking to buy mint turbo games. hit me up if you've got some!

You're nuts, although you aren't alone in that thought. There a few out there that think that way, but I can't understand it... Bonk 3 was the greatest of the Turbo entries. It brought together everything that was fantastic about the first two games and was innovative in it's own right with the 2-player co-op and big/small Bonk. It was also a huge game.

I'm going with Lords of Thunder, with Bonk 3 as the runner up.

I like the mechanics/gameplay/etc of Bonk 3. I just found the level design to be not nearly as great/fun as the first two games.

Agreed, the level design always threw away the feel of Bonk 3 for me. I also found the music to be disappointing. Still it's not a bad game though.

Funny, I think level design is one of Bonk 3's greatest features.  The first two are far more linear and offer few chances for exploration.

Exactly.

After playing through the first two adventures for the first time, I felt like I'd seen it all.

It took me many runs through Bonk 3 before I started to feel like there wasn't much left to explore. I still find secrets in that game from time to time I've never found before.

turbofan1

Bonk 3 is not A bad game,It just takes way to long to long to complete.I no Necromancer claimed he finished it in A hour and A half or something.I didn`t understand the whole deal of growing big and small.I found it annoying.I prefer Super Bonk for the snes over Bonk 3 for the turbo. Its basically the same game, the levels are just rearranged. That and it has those ultra cool mode 7 effects.

awack

But even with 50% more memory (12 megs vs 8 megs) super bonk couldn't handle the large sprite  :P

I switched my vote from Magical Chase to Lords of Thunder , the best shooter eva.

Playing a Bonk game on a non-NEC system seems wrong to me.  I disliked the PS2 version, though it was neat only as a curiosity.

What a great pic comparison! Notice how the palm tree has darker colors and is more detailed on the TurboGrafx. Many other objects differ in the same fashion between the two versions as well.
