Keranu is correct.

TVS Basketball is the end-all of video basketball games...My buddy uses the Outlaws..I use the Shadows. It is highly entertaining, but also has some terrible flaws that you just need to accept as unique.

The designers programmed themselves into the game with some ridiculous nicknames and it's quite funny...names like Burnin Wang.

why does every game on the market these days need to be endorsed?  damn our brand-dependent culture. I can't play a game without Kobe in it...

Quote from: Joe RediferThat dude is awesome.  He graces my TG-16 box.  He watches me play games, and he is obviously happy about it.  I mean god damn!

I wonder if we can find that all-american dude and see what he's doing now..how did he get a gig like that...did they tell him to smile like that? or was he really a huge fan?

AAron should interview him! -Doom

Cool..thanks guys..I still miss PCFX Radio though!

yes Broderbund actually...Legacy of the Wizard was particularly frustrating at times....

Guardian Legend!  I forgot about that game...I remember it being awesome though I never finished it I don't think...

I miss my dose of Turbo music:(  sorry everyone...been away from the site for awhile..

This is awesome..
I can't wait to tell them about myself and my buddy's near 16 year rivalry in TV Sports Basketball..:) oops..that's not Hudson though..

Perhaps I can regale them with tales of  the reverent moment he and I fired up the arcane CD technology of the TG-16 cd player in awe for the first time...light shown down from the heavens and we stared as wide-eyed and unblinking as frogs trapped in the rays of a high-powered flashlight...gaming would never be the same. -Doom

Thanks Keranu!

Yah, Steve,  this is the first time it has happened to me, finding TG stuff in the "wild" (I love that term).  The dude still isn't back yet but it was so exciting. My town is very small, no street lights, lots of Duke boy roads and is literally up in the mountains of northern VT. This guy is relatively new to town. Perhaps this is what archaeologists must feel ...:) -Doom

sorry I double posted this...

Huh,

There I was across the street at my friends house, and some guy who lives there has a bunch of stuff strewn around in boxes...something caught my eye, and I bent to investigate. Sure enough, it was Double Dungeons..along with 10 or 12 more Turbo games all in their cd cases..The guy was on vacation but I guess he was just going to throw them away! I was also told by my friend.."yeah, he's got a few more of these weird games..never seen'em before..he'll probably just give em to you.."  Imagine..I thought I was the only one in my town who had this stuff...

Can't wait til he gets back and I'll give a full report! -Doom

Steve,

1st, thank goodness you and your family are ok, same goes for Miller's family and his neighbors.

2nd,  Jimminy Crickets!  That is so crazy. I am glad you have a sense of humor about it, and no one is hurt, because it does make a great story. What a dumbass. -Doom

As some posters on this board know, while I am a platformer/RPG guy, I must say that as far as sports games go, TV Sports Basketball is the greatest basketball game. Ever. Period. -Doom

I need to get Raiden..damn. I am still working on Super star soldier..but haven't been palying much lately..I am still reading the boards most everyday still though..:) -Doom

Yup..for years, being backwards VT hicks, my friend and I called it Why's before we got the game..and even now I have to catch myself...

Ninja Gayden? Oh yeah..even now I must needs catch myself.

The Frighteners wasn't bad and was actually directed by Peter Jackson of LOTR/KIng Kong fame now..Gary Busy always makes for a great villain but he was best in his turn as Buddy Holly in the Buddy Holly Story -Doom

Hey everyone, I am still here, but as others have said  before, things are busy for me and I haven't fired up my system since just before X-mas..the turbo lives in my heart however, and I continue weekly battles at my friend's house in TV sports Basketball. :)

sweet!  Now i just wait for the PS3 to com out so the PS2 will plummet in price!  (I only have PS1)  I do love the dragon Warrior series...I have played them all through except 3 and 7..I can't wait to play 3 for the Nes..had it for a while...I will get 8..thanks for the recommendation..merry X-mas!

hey...how is Dragonqust 8?  It looks awesome and I love tht series...I am still plodding along in 7...:)

Quote from: TJTemple of Doom was okay but these two rank way up on my all-time list. I LOVED TEMPLE OF DOOM TOO, ESPECIALLY THE SOUNDTRACK (FINALE AND END CREDITS)

Sneakers - This isn't one of those movies that most people would watch over and over, but I can't get enough of it.  ILIKED IT TOO

The Kentucky Fried Movie - ZAZ's first feature film. Still almost makes me pee myself laughing. Airplane! is up there too. A SAMUEL BRONKOWITZ PRODUCTION ANYONE?

This Is Spinal Tap - How much more black could it be? The answer is none. None more black. I AM GOING TO TURN MY STEREO UP TO 11

Alien - The first one was the perfect mix of sci-fi and horror, chock full of Giger designs and Ridley Scott's bizarre style of direction which gave it an almost documentary-like realism.  YES I AGREE..IT WAS THE FIRST MOVIE TO PROTRAY SCI-FI AS REALISTIC AND "GRITTY" i ALSO WAS ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT FOR THE WILD RIDE THAT WAS JAMES CAMERON'S SEQUEL..I LOVED ALIENS.  DIDN'T CARE MUCH FOR THE OTHERS, AND AVP WAS LUDICROUS CRAP.

Blade Runner - Just gets better every time I see it. The Director's Cut is better than the original. YUP.  GLADIATOR HAS SOME CLASSIC MOMENTS TOO. MAXIMUS WAS AN ENGAGING CENTRAL CHARACTER. I ALSO LIKED WHITE SQUALL BY RIDLEY.

Classic Universal monster movies - All of 'em, from Frankenstein to Dracula to Creature from the Black Lagoon. Classic, engaging and tons of fun. RIGHT ON

Godzilla - I own every single one and I know them backwards and forwards. I can't even remember how young I was when I got into Godzilla or what the first one I saw was -- Godzilla has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember.

KING KONG VS IS MY FAV, OTHER THAN THE 1ST...HAVE YOU SEEN GODZILLA 2000?

King Kong - The original 1933 version of course, not the useless '76 remake. The cornerstone of all sci-fi, fantasy, and horror collections. Though I'm usually wary of remakes of my favorites, Peter Jackson's upcoming Kong looks like he actually may have done it right. I THINK SO TOO:0

Sin City - A recent entry, but as a huge fan of Frank Miller and the Sin City comics, this movie just made me happy. And I can't wait for the special edition DVD, which will feature all of the stories in their complete forms, as they were in the comics. I WAS SHOCKED, HORRIFIED, AND ENJOYED THE RIDE...EXCELLENT FILM, MICKEY ROURKES BEST PERFORMANCE IN YEARS. IS HE ON STEROIDS?

Honorable mentions: Ray Harryhausen movies (Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, Earth vs the Flying Saucers, etc),  LOVE RAY!

there was an old black and white movie where they were tracking the yeti and in the end the only survivor goes crazy after the Yeti come for him..then he is left a gibbering shell who no one will believe...it was spooky.....darn what was it's name? IMDB here i come.  Harry and the Hendersons was a movie i enjoyed...it was cool in the end how all f the Cryptids came out of the woodwork...:)

Just wondering if you guys have been tracking the new controller for the Revolution...pretty nifty..Nintendo is turning away from the console wars and going in a completely new direction, saying that siply trumping the competitor's hardware specs is not enough, and the intensity of the specialized gaming experience is creating a narowing market in japan, with the world sooto follow... I love trailblazers..and NEC is collaborating to make some of the hardware:)

sorry Keranu..there is the link. Look at Lake champlain.  VT is so convinced this creature exists tht there is a state law protecting it from harm.

Yes, there are alot of dumbasses out there and the amount of hoaxes are numerous with the technology so readily available now. Case in point, I was stoked about the recent media attention of a video filmed in Manitoba, but they sold it to inside edition and it really sucked..terrible footage. An interesting thing about the famous Patterson Footage of Bigfoot is that contrary to popular belief, science still cannnot duplicate the film real time with a suit, nor has it ever been proven a hoax. There are many strong rumors saying it has, but it hasn't. How did they pull offf something in '71 that can't be replicated today?  for more info, Go to the BFRO (Bigffot field research Organization) for some fascinating info, and a legit scientific approach. -Doom

Quote from: DragonmasterDanSomeone mentioned Faxanadu, remember there were PCE CD versions of Faxanadu and Faxanadu 2 as Xanadu in Japan.
I have the first installment (I don't think I have the sequel)... but these aren't side-scrolling action-RPG's like the NES version! That's what I want to see more of!

Sorcerian (DUO) -- this is the gameplay I'm talkin' about (well, I haven't played much of this game, but I'm hoping it's like NES Faxanadu!)

Any info to clarify this / help me locate similar games would be greatly appreciated!

BACK ON TOPIC: I liked Blaster Master (NES) and I loved Camerica's NES games (Micro Machines for TurboTap -- how righteous would that be?)

And I love all the Lolo games... I'd have loved to see a PCE installment!

And I loved SMB2 (US)... I forget the name of the original Famicom title... that would have been swell on the PCE! Don Doki Don... I think that HuCard is related to the series.

I think the original template for SMB2 in Japan was called the Dream Factory.  I loved that game, and so it seems did everyone else...it and zelda were in the top 3 on NP for months and months.  faxanandu was a great game, and i almost flipped when you guys mentioned it has a PCE port. :(  wha tabout wizards and warriors? or Solomon's Key?  Crystalis? I always loved castlevania 2 as a sidescrolling RPG that could have been soooo much better, creepier..and challenging. The mansions were just too easy...but its concepts at the time were very novel..I would love to see a major PCE scd remake with everything we'd have liked to have seen in it.  The dragon warrior games would have been awesome too...

Then there is Fester's Quest....

<sigh> talking about all those classics is probably why I'll invest in the Revolution:)

Keranu...

you are not alone my friend. I ma a believer as well, not so much in X-file conspiracy about aliens than about their existence and possible visitations.  I just love Chariots of the Gods.

I also  believe in Bigfoot, and am planning on going on a BFRO expedition next summer. I have a couple personal friends, no non-sense guys with military backgrounds, who told me of what they have seen in the deep woods of Alaska and the PNW.  It's amazing.

Here in VT a creature in lake champlain (champ for those of you not in the loop) has been seen for centuries since the NA's were the only ones, and the lake has a bay called Big Snake Bay after a Heron name. There are no big snakes up here.  recently, some fishermen again caught it on video, not for the first time.  I have personally met with an elderly cuple who told me they have video, good video , of a group of 2-3 large, 20+ ft creatures, feeding in the lake near dusk. they claim to have recorded them for 45 minutes. They will not disclose when or where nor will they release the tapes so as not to make this place a zoo.  The guy was a retired professional. In 2003, a research team recorded somethingin the lake utilizing echo location (like buluga whales) in the lake over a few days....go to www.faunacommunications.com  wahtever made the sounds, had to be over 20 ft long.  interestingly, there ahve been buluga whalebones recovered from the lake bed..that were trapped here during the reccesion of the last ice age.

go to cryptozoolgy.com and this will lead you to the info that you seek.  Good hunting:)

$132 for neutopia 2? even with the box complete that's hefty..mine is just the jewel case though.  However, it does make my MM3 and Bey Shadgate look more reasonable..:)

How do I quote everyon'e s posts in white like you guys do? I searched the FAQ's to no avail...thanks:)

Quote from: JBSpeedI have a rather large library of mostly sci-fi and fantasy. Right now there really are a large number of great series.

Number one for me is George Martin's Song of ice and fire series.  The 4th book A Feast for Crows should be out Nov. 8th, it been nearly 4 years since A Storm of Swords!

Next is Matthew Woodring Stover's Caine books: Heroes Die and Blade of Tyshall.  They are just extraordinary both in story and the explicit violence that no other series I've read has approached.  I saw on some site that he's going to write 2 more, but haven't seen any more news yet.

Steven Erikson's A Tale of the Malazan Book of the Fallen series
book1 Gardens on the Moon  book2 Deadhouse Gates recently came out.

Micheal Stackpole's Dragon Crown War cycle
Dark glory war, Fortress Draconis, When Dragons Rage, and The Grand Crusade

In sci-fi
W. Micheal Gear's Forbidden Borders Trilogy
Requiem for the Conqueror, Relic of Empire and Counter Measures
Its been out for years, but still good

Peter Hamilton's Night's Dawn Trilogy
The Reality Disfunction, The Neutronium Alchemist, and the Naked God
This series has also been around, when they came out in pb there is a part  1 and 2 to each book

and Pandora's Star which has just come out in pb

Basically anything by Timothy Zahn - The Icurus Hunt to name one

Harry Turtledove's excellent alternate history series where the south won the civil war is now in its 8th book Drive to the East, where the CSA has the USA on the ropes as WW2 rages truly around the globe.

Really are too many to list

Nice!  I too have an extensive library..and am a fan of a song of ice and fire..the ending of storm of swords certainly left me in shock!  along with some you have listed I am also a fan of the First Dune..phenomenal..anything by Tim Powers (the anubis gate)  david gemmel,  starship troopers..(that book actually made me join the army:))

ER Eddison,  (The worm Ouroboros) and many others...more to come!

Any fans of Fantasy and Sci-Fi Literature out there?

we've done movies and music...let's do books..

I am a fan of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time, and book 11, Knife of Dreams is coming out OCT 11th..I'm pretty pumped.

in fact..I 'll be removing some soon..I haven't beaten MM3 and I just would be torn to part with it..along with others...I might just start pulling them.

k guys..I haven't had time to get my S**T together enough to organize an auction on Ebay, so you are still in the game.

Doom's Clearing House is still a  fantastic Bonanza!

*tell me..do you feel i have overpriced these things..is that it?  I feel bad but really I did some research and they seem fair at market right now..many copies you find won't have the all-collector-important maps...
#44
and of course, don't forget TV Sports Basketball...while others have discarded this game as a throw-away, my friend and I have played it for 15 years and it has never lost its appeal..you just need to embrace its many faults. I really wish someone would update it on CD-rom with some improved features...alas...it also is "non-NBA Official"  which you can't get anymore these days...the players in the game are all the programmers themselves..:) No other sports game has kept our attention this consistently...maybe, just maybe, we are strange.  2nite, we will once again go head to head and I will strive to victory....

I recently stopped drinking as well...after years of debauchery, although I am in good shape and eat healthy, drinking just does me in, college and then the Service breeds bad habits.....and I realize that I can't have "just a couple".  maybe one night I can, then another, but eventually I'll fall into a binge. No Good!

I finally decided I wanted to be productive and healthy all the time.  We'll see..I live in a small ski town in Northern VT where it's a lifestyle to have a beer in hand any  occasion except church. In fact one of my friends who always talks like a hillbilly told me.."boy, you look Stupid sober"...quite funny..

I stand with Cack on the bar issue..once in a blue moon I may wind up in a club, thru no choice of mine..A good Honkey Tonk with a band who is really laying down some outlaw country or wailing some country blues gets me going..unfortunately, I am in the North..and we don't get that often here...Although we do have the Starline Rhythm Boys..(great local band here in New England Cack..if you can find em on the Net..)

As far as girls...I do better picking up girls in a setting where we can actually have conversation and interact, then in  a mindless industrial club setting where you can't hear yourself think...no offense guys..:)
