You know what? If this is how you guys are going to be even AFTER the truth was presented to you, then I don't need ANY of you. Everyone that I personally know WAS right about you guys. You are the most bitter, self centered, egotistical people in my LIFE.

I thought that maybe you guys could be stand up people. I guess not. I tried to be cordial and straighten things out, yet you people continue to bully me. I'm done with you people. I will NOT be a part of a community which denigrates their members. In your twisted minds, you may consider it a victory and me a "scammer", but it's YOUR loss and NOT mine. You could've gotten to know me better and see that I was a nice person. Instead you chose to denigrate me and crucify me. I NEVER TOOK ANYTHING FROM ANYONE. I explained what happened, but whatever.

I have a life unlike most of you and I'm DAMN happy with it. You people couldn't be functioning members of society if you tried. You proved it to me here.

One final thought, a REAL MAN DOESN'T HIDE. A real man explains himself and admits his mistakes.

Oh BELIEVE me, I saw that a million times already. That's why I'm a fan on that channel. The one with Freddie Mercury and Frank Sinatra was the best along with Elvis and Michael Jackson.

I've already talked to a few people on NintendoAge who urged me to give this another shot.

I wrote a thread explaining everything here:

Hi,

You guys may remember me as the "Asshole Turbo Guy" / JohnnyBlaze.

But, I think after a while, I need to give a formal explanation of things.

I tried finding the original thread but it seems to be gone.

Here's the sitch:

I've only had TWO deals go wrong in my life. Unfortunately, they were SORT of big.

About the first Duo deal, that was mostly my fault. I was under a LOT of stress(I was practically living with gypsies in our apartment who were violent and threatening toward the family), it was handled by numerous people, and it turned into a HUGE mess that should not have happened. As soon as I caught wind of what happened(and got my shit together), I sent the Duo back and later on bought a Duo from someone else. I know my behavior was not the greatest, but I take FULL responsibility for that and apologize to all who were pissed at me, and ESPECIALLY the person who was supposed to trade with me. I wasn't trying to rip off anyone, but some people took the wording wrong on the messages. I have not let ANYONE handle my personal affairs after that and will never again.

Now, about the second one because I don't know if anyone here knows, but I will tell it anyway.

I bought a $300 lot of Famicom items from who I thought was a reputable seller. When the items arrived, the Disk System was not functioning properly. After numerous attempts to try and resolve the situation, the seller kept brushing me off and telling me that everything is fine. I took pictures AND video and still the same response, even after other members pointed out something was wrong. He told me "it's an old electronic". I understand that these things can break at a moment's notice. But, when you pay for something and it comes dead on arrival, that's a HUGE problem.

So, I repeatedly asked him for another RAM Adapter, he kept telling me no. Then after pressure mounted, he told me he would if I pay to send the adapter all the way back to Japan. For the price it would've cost, I could've bought another one from someone in the states. So, I did the only thing I could do. I filed a PayPal claim and did it on the phone so I could tell them what I needed. All I wanted was $50 or so to buy a new RAM adapter. But, PayPal told me that they couldn't just pick and choose the amount and they had to put it in for the full price. I reluctantly agreed as I figured it would get his attention and get him to settle. He finally did offer me $25 which I wasn't sure would cover shipping it back to him(PayPal only lets you ship Priority International now and not first class). Another member on the forum intervened and offered to send me his RAM adapter and ship the defective one back to the seller. I agreed and even threw in my extra Famicom Disks as a thank you and settled the case. Yet, he still chose to badmouth me even though his PayPal was frozen because of numerous complaints about him asking for gift payments for goods and even REFUSING regular PayPal payments so he could take the money and not refund for a defective item. As you are aware, that is against PayPal policy. So, he got caught and is pissed at me because unlike other people, I told him straight up I had a problem.

Then a few weeks later, lo and behold, he found a defect in the RAM adapter, which if it was tested properly would've been found.

But, other than these two, I've had TONS of great deals go by without a hitch and even have one going out today. I just hope you guys are the "stand up people" that everyone keeps telling me you are, even though I still have some trepidation from our last experiences together, and will let bygones be bygones as no one was ripped off like some other people I see floating around and accept it for what it was: two deals that went horribly wrong, but were turned into spectacle.

I plan to start collecting for the PC Engine and even have my Turbo Duo up for trade for a PC Engine Duo-R(unmodified). I can't do this WITHOUT you guys.

So, let me have it.....

Well, there WAS a thread here a long time ago that I dug up on CD-R's. I followed the guy's advice and I picked up a Pioneer DVR-212D off of eBay(it's been since out of production) and installed it on my Windows 7 64-Bit machine. I used the SpinRite Silver CD-R's and burned them at 4x and lo and behold, THEY WORK! I mean DAMN well. The 4-in-1 Super CD that everyone seems to complain about loaded for me in about ten seconds with not much grinding on the laser. Every game I tried loads like an actual CD! It's the Pioneer burning at 4x combined with the Silver CD-R's dye. It's not that cheap shit you usually find at any RadioShack or Best Buy. These are the CD's used by independent artists when they make their demos or small print albums(if you're a rap fan, you'll be familiar with it as the CD's used for DJ Mix Tapes). My cousin is a musician and she gave me a spindle to try out. But for anyone looking to backup their CD's or play games they cannot get, try this combo!

It's not that expensive either. The Pioneer Drive can be found for $20-30, a SATA cable for $2, Mounting Screws for $1, and the SpinRite Silver CD-R's can be found in a 100 pack for $35. You WILL need an empty 100-pack spindle as the CD's just come shrinkwrapped with no spindle and protectors on the top and bottom. I use DVD's all the time for wrestling stuff, format transfers(I have Laserdisc, Beta, VHS, and CED), and films, so I had plenty of empty spindles.

Hope this helps!

I grew up playing it because my aunt and uncle had one.   Neutopia and Bonk were played a lot.

when they gave it to me, I got China warrior, and holy fuck.

mind = blown.

plus the music rules.
That's the SAME reason I was hooked. My aunt had a PC Engine, then the TG-16, and then later, the Duo. I used to play Bonk and Lords of Thunder on there a lot. I still remember seeing the HuCard for the first time. I was used to the NES carts. I could not BELIEVE that a WHOLE GAME fit onto a CARD!

BTW, I got in my order of Turbo Views Volumes 1 and 2. They are JAM PACKED with bonus stuff and the Totally Turbo Tips really help. It was $28 for both, shipping included. WELL worth the price of admission. If you love the series and haven't gotten the DVD's....then you should get them.....like now....seriously.....I'll wait.....

Umm... Blazing Lazers is liked by pretty much everyone here, LOL! Definitely not less than average. One of the best shmups the T-16 has to offer.
But, it's a guilty pleasure for me because I could play it for hours and it makes me forget about everything else. That's why I cannot play it if I have something to do that day....

Sadly this copy doesn't have the manual so I think I'll pass for now(yeah not really necessary but I'd like to have it too). But I'll definitely keep an eye out for it and snag it if it comes up for a good price with case and manual. :P
Damn! I didn't see that part about the no manual. Sorry about that....

...looks like all I can afford is the the Might and Magic poster...   :(
haha looks like his logic is that Ys 1&2 must be worth more money because there are 2 games in one! hehe
Or because it's one of the games everyone knows. You know what's even WORSE and I was talking about it the other day with someone: those "graded" games on eBay. You guys see this now? They grades games like baseball cards and comics! Oh, well, mine's an 85, so you MUST pay me $300!

Things like that only drive UP the cost of games. If they're going to do shit like that, I might as well put up my "85" Star Raiders for $500 and my "90" Venture for $700...just pure ridiculousness!

Quote from: machomadness on 10/31/2011, 12:43 AMI'd personally recommend Cadash. It's uncommon, but can be found for around $30. It's worth it as IMHO, it's the best port of Cadash on a home system. It's a side scrolling action RPG and best of all, it's made by Working Designs who made the Lunar series.
Is that $30 loose or with case? For the most part I'm trying to keep everything with a case simply for ease of storage. Though I'm sure I'll eventually cave on the more expensive titles. It looks like a fun game from quick videos I watched. I'll definitely add this one to the list. :)

Quote from: BlueBMW on 10/29/2011, 09:51 PMTurbokarma has been in overdrive this month.  Deals have been hitting left and right.... lowball bids have somehow won auctions.... I'm not sure what's going on but deal after deal is going well.  Here's some recent stuff that came in:

Most of it is from that large lot that was for sale a while back.  The second boxed duo was a "broken" one from ebay.. ended up being a bad video cable... :|

Please no PMs on the stuff yet, as I'm still deciding how to and what to trade / sell / give away of that lot.

Is that the game where you dig holes and trap enemies in them? I played that on my PSP during the last election around here. Addictive it was!

I'd say a Bonk one. It's the more natural choice. I'd love to see Adventure Island as well, but I don't know if we can count that as that was on Nintendo first.....

Quote from: Flare65 on 10/30/2011, 06:27 PMHello everyone!

I'm new to these forums.  I used to be a major collector back in the day when the Genesis and TG-16 were at each other's throats at the start of the 16 bit war.  I even worked for Electronics Boutique (remember those?) back in high school.  Wow, its been that long.  Anyway, I parted out some of my collection back in college, but now I'd like to get some of my old collection back.

I'm still rocking the original TG16 + CD attachment with the Super System  2.0 card that came out.  After all these years, the CD portion of the system kind of works.  I took the drive apart and moved the little white gear that moves the motor inside and now it seems to work.  Scared with the possibility of loosing the ability to play all my old CD and SCD games, I'm looking for Duo or Duo-R.  I'm thinking of splurging on one of those Japanese systems that has been modded.  I don't remember the guy's name, but he includes a SCART cable with his systems.  Anyone ever hook one of these to a modern TV?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to joining the discussion here and getting to know everyone!

John
Do you happen to know the guy's name? I've seen a couple of videos of Duo-R's on YouTube that were SCART modded and cleaned to look brand spanking new. Even though I live in the US and cannot use SCART, I was impressed by the videos I did see.

Here's the two best ones I saw:

Good luck in your search and welcome!!!

Take a laser reading from a Duo and then use CD-R's. Measure the laser resistance after say each ten uses. If it drops, we know it's true.....

Looks like you got a full plate there. All great games (well honestly I can't recall Fantasy Star). Lords of Thunder is a great shooter and has that epic metal sound track. Good choices.
I know, but what disappoints me the most is that in Japan, they have almost 100 games released on the PSP, but here in America, we only have a handful.....

Then again, I live in the "'hood", so I guess they don't care as much as they should. It was so bad at one point that to trade in games, we needed to sign a police blotter. A lot of stuff was getting stolen and sold to GameStop. To this day, you need an ID to trade stuff in now, EVEN FOR STORE CREDIT!

Sort of. I had the old HDD(which I've long since sold when I got my slim a while back) and of course, I needed to open the back to put it in and that's what I saw. But, it was the smell that got me to look inside before that.

As a quick turnaround, I mean like a week at most. Replacing caps is a lot more work than a reflow.
#41
Quote from: tggodfrey on 10/28/2011, 10:57 PMDO NOT wait till you have problems to replace the capacitors.  Doing so or recommending someone do that is very bad advice.  Capacitor electrolytic fluid is corrosive to the copper traces on a PCB circuit board.

My advice is do a routine cap replacement now and enjoy it for another 20 years or wait and potentially spend a lot of money repairing it.
Who here can do that? I'm looking for one with a quick turnaround time(kind of like for my Xbox 360 when I sent it out) and quality work.

I just bought a Duo and need to get some games. But, if I find some CD's with just a regular case or loose TurboChips, does anyone know where I can find front and back cover scans to put in a CD case?

I see everyone's view point. BTW, on the advice from a few people on other forums and a few of my friends, I got a 100 pack of Silver CD-R's(the ones that are used for music demos and such). I've heard great reviews of them but has anyone here ever used them?

I have a UK TurboGrafx coming in the post. I've ordered an arcade card pro for it. (I still need to find an adaptor and a CD player.)
Once I have everything there set up, will I be able to play UK/US games with my arcade card or will I need a US system card as well?

Thanks;
seagull
I assume you got the one like this:

TurboGrafx-UK.jpg

If that's the case, then it's basically a US Turbografx 16 with extra chips to output to PAL. It supports all US Turbo Chips, but plays them slower. As for the Arcade Card, you'd need the Arcade Card Pro(which I see you already have), but for that, you'll need a Japanese to US HuCard converter. CD games are NOT region locked, but your Turbo will ONLY play US Turbo Chips without a converter. That's why it's just best to avoid the headache and get a Duo-R if you can find one. But, if you go that route, you'll need the Arcade Card Duo. The Pro will NOT work on a Duo. There's quite a few videos on YouTube with people from the UK buying one from Japan pre-modded for RGB and cleaned up.

Watch this one for your Turbo:

and these for the Duo-R:

Hope these help!

I'd keep the 4-in-1 Super CD with Gate of Thunder. Bonk's Adventure, Bonk's Revenge, Gate of Thunder, AND the hidden Bomberman? Oh yeah!

But, if that doesn't count, I'd pick Bonk's Adventure.
