The adapter is still available for trade or sale and ive contacted the next person on the list.

To avoid any confusion or assumptions, i am in Sweden, and will ship this anywhere in the world. I will pay cheapest shipping via airmail, and require only the same for the person who wants to trade. If you require tracking you will have to pay the extra cost. If you want to buy it, give me a decent offer, and ill find out shipping costs.

Edit: The adapter has been traded. Thanks for all the interest.
#2
As long as you are willing to ship to Sweden, consider it done! Ill ship to wherever you are.
#3
No i appreciate your info even if it was "bad", id rather know before i hurt the console.

I do have a generic adapter for it already, but people have mentioned it may be the source of some really bad noises i get when i play certain games, especially New Zealand Story, the noises hurt my ears so i bought the adapter in hopes to use it and see if it would change somehow.

I do own a Trio adapter from retro game cave, and the guy is really nice to communicate with, so i may go that route as well..
#4
I bought the adapter from a japanese site thinking it was the one i needed. Thankfully i inquired here first, and was told it wont work.

So, if anyone needs this and has a spare adapter for use with Core Grafx(1) id be up for a trade. I can ship this anywhere in the world as long as the other person also is willing to.

If someone wants to buy it, ill sell it cheap. It looks to be in good condition and comes in a box (which says PAD-123 on it?) which is also in pretty good condition.

Send me a pm or reply to the thread, id prefer a trade for the adapter i need, if anyone wants to.
#5
Crap... I had a feeling it wasnt gonna work.. Guess ill have to post my first post in the sales/trade forum. Thanks for the info and response.

Hi, i bought the above mentioned power adapter from japan as part of a misc. order, and when it arrived it says CDROM on the box? I am not too familiar with PC engine hardware, and i dont know if this is the power adapter i need for my original Grafx(1). If someone could let me know id be greatful.

Other info other than the model number in topic, would be Output DC9V 1450mA.

Thanks and regards,
grimm

PS. i was unsure where to out this thread, please move it if necessary.

I hear noise on some other systems too, but never this pronounced, it has only annoyed me, not hurt my ears, like New Zealand Story does. My 3DO has weird background noise as it boots up, so does my AES, but i generally dont hear any of it during actual gameplay. NZS, i do. Which is a shame cos it seems like an enjoyable little platformer.

Still working on getting a way to record it so you guys can judge for yourselves, because it is loud.
#9
I do indeed have overly sensitive hearing, as well as tinitus which makes things even worse. But the noise is louder in some games than others, especially in New Zealand Story.

Ill see what i can do about recording the noise.

Thanks. I know Chuck through email and purchasing an original trio supply, so im sure he can hook me up once he gets stock. Im very happy with the trio brick and i know he's all about quality since he has now moved on after the manufacturer started having issues with the original.

I have no way of checkign the cables aside from buying new ones.. i guess i will have to do that then.

The power supply was very cheap so maybe that is the culprit?
#11
I have went all my games now, almost every game has this problem to one degree or another. I remembered wrong about the bomberman sound, it is the high pitched sound but at a different volume.

I only have one set of composite cables so i cant switch them, but ill try relocating it and see. I am not running a NEC power adapter, but a generic one with the correct requirements for the console. Should i try hunting down a NEC power adapter?
#12
Hi. Ive notices some weird noises from my system when i play certain games.. I dont have many games, but at least two of them have weird noises.

My copy of Bomberman 94 has a wierd humming sound which goes up and down in volume, whilst my New Zealand Story card has a really high pitch shrieking noise at start up. It is masked by the game's music once the game starts, but you can hear it in the background.

Im playing this on a LG LCD screen, and im using NEC composite cables to connect it to the tv. The console is a bit fiddly to get to read the cards, but a few tries usually gets a game started..

Anyone know what this might be caused by? I can live with the humming in bomberman, but the noise in new zealand story hurts my ears.. Please help if you can.

Regards,
grimm

After having sat in bicarbonate for a week the manual no longer smell of tobacco, or at least i cant smell any. So its no longer smelly!
#20
If im not too late, please count me in on the Altered beast game.

Edit: On second thoughts nevermind, im too far away from a cd system to hog this from someone else who could enjoy it immediately, should i have won.
#21
that nekketsu soccer game did too. Thanks for confirming, NecroPhile, then i know to let this title wait until i have the actual hardware required.
#22
Hi, sorry to bring up an old thread, but this came up in my search and i figured my question would fit here, rather than make a new one.

Is this game only for the CD format? I tried searching google for a hu-card, but couldnt find one. If anyone can confirm id be greatful. (i dont yet have a PCE CD system..)
#23
Ive got the game, complete with manual and box for sale. The box has one manual tab broken, but is otherwise in good condition as well as the insert. The game cartridge is in great condition with no noticeable damage to the label. The manual has some damage but nothing major, mostly a few tears from handling but it holds up just fine. The manual does have some tobacco smoke odor to it from a previous owner, but ive been able to lessen most of it, and i believe you can air the rest out if weather permits (which it doesnt in sweden right now). Its only the manual that might still smell a little of tobacco, nothing else.

Give me reasonable offers if you are interested, pictures can be supplied for interested people.
#24
Ill join if its not too late.

Edit: i just realized this was for SF2, i already have that game, dont add me haha..

I would like to enter this raffle as well please.

Well, technically from the companies point of view and the agreement you sign as you pay, you dont pay to own the game. You pay for the license to play and the software to play it. Its in the fine print. You dont buy the actual game in their point of view. Here in sweden the consumer law does not recognize these contracts, however when it comes to buying mmo/mmorpg's where you sign a EULA, its different. You wont have any backing if you break the EULA and get suspended from service as a result.

Regardless, i got upset when i first heard of these plans sony (and microsoft is looking into the same thing) has for their next console many months ago. The speculation back then was that you also lock your game to the account itself, and not the console. Making it impossible to have several accounts for the same game (at least without paying for that "privilage"), like if you want personal accounts while playing online, for each family member. Its all money grabbing and stinky tactics, but i dont believe people will "rise up" and not conform to this, people rarely do, they bend over and take it. People have also speculated if hardcopies will even be an option, but i dont know if thats how it will turn out. I hope and believe they will offer both hardcopies and digital copies of the games.

I have no plans what so ever to get the next generation of consoles if they make stuff like this a reality. ps3/360 may be the most modern consoles i will own, if you discount the Ouya ive yet to receive.

I dont use implications or undertones, i spoke from my own experience and practices and if you now later think i told you what to do, after first accepting my post for what it was, i cant help that. I made it clear several times i made no judgement over you NOR him. If i had intended for you personally to ask anal questions, i would have mentioned you personally. Again, i dont use implications or undertones, regardless if you believe so or not. I have Aspergers Syndrome and it is not in my nature to do so. I get shit for being TOO honest and TOO straightforward. I simply gave hints on how to increase ones chances of avoiding issues, by asking more if the description is sparse. Im not gonna look here again, since you obviously are taking out your newfound frustration on me, after having acted civilized a day ago.

You are now being overly sarcastic, childish and even say "Everyone, please..  buy from Misfits, he is GREAT!!!  Just ask grimm." I never said that, not once. Nor did i belittle your issue or expressed any doubt you had one. I think i even said "i dont doubt you had issues with him". I was trying to be helpful and unbaised in the thread, and you give some sort of delayed backlash that makes me think you are drunk reading this thread again in drunken anger, taking shit out on me.

If you have bought from this guy before and had bad experiences from the very first buy, why would you buy from him again... No that was not a question, it was a statement. By your own angered reasoning you shouldnt even have looked at his listings ever again. I wont even respond to your on implications made towards ME, and i wont bother you again Bernie, good bye.

If you do indeed end up with YLOD, there is a simple way that might help you get it up and running, at least temporarily, and you dont have to open the system in any way.

First vacuum the system, then take a hair dryer, put it on hottest setting, and blow it into the vents for 10-15 minutes while moving it back and forth across the vents, dont keep it static. This fixed my fat PS3 YLOD, at least long enough for me to be able to transfer the data to my new ps3 slim. I still had 2 weeks left on my manufacturers flaw warranty provided the void sticker is intact (a swedish consumer law) so i sent it in explaining the YLOD. I was sent a brand new replacement fatty within a couple of weeks. So i dont know how long this simple fix would have worked, but it worked long enough to retrieve all the data, which took several hours copying the harddrive. The professional YLOD fixes people offer online are very unreliable according to themselves, so not really worth it.

Worth to keep in mind, should it suddenly die and you still have the ps3 you just bought. Keeping it vertical also helps with less heat buildup. External fan systems might also help.

Just too many cosmetic design flaws in my book...

Keep in mind most if not all of the games you buy or get for "free" while being a member of PS Plus stops working when you are no longer a member, unless they changed that recently.
#31
I dont like the sliding top. Put me off immediately.. So cheap. A regular flap wouldve been better, like the original ps and ps2 slim. My favourite is PS3 Slim.

But many of those "beware" threads are also done by people who dont research, dont ask the perhaps obvious but needed questions, or just dont use common sense.. In other words they assume too much, and then spew shit over the seller when they get disappointed when he wont cover their own mistakes. Not saying this was the case for you either way, but in general that is often what it is.

If i run into a beware-thread i take it into account, but i dont base everything off it. It also depends heavily on how many actually share their own bad experiences with that person. Some people have bad experiences where others dont. You had a bad experience, i did not. Sure, my order was less than $55 all in all so i didnt put as much though into it as if it had been a $550 purchase, but thats still quite a lot of money to me, especially since im unemployed. Its not money i wish to lose or take for granted, thats like food for a week for me.

I didnt see this thread before i purchased from him, and judging by his feedback on ebay, he seems pretty fair to trade from to me, especially based on my experience once the deal is done and i have my goods. 3620 positive, 9 neutral and 4 negative in the past 12 months isnt bad. And if you check the two negatives he's had one is yours, and the other can be speculated the buyer didnt ask questions to protect his interest.. Im not saying he didnt, as i have no way of knowing. But i can easily imagine him seeing "box shows wear" as something minor, whilst another person might consider 3 big rips (if they were 3 big rips) as "wear". Ive been in too many discussions on how differently people grade items to even do it anymore. If its described as that, i would ask to see pics of the "wear", and if he didnt want to picture it for me, i look elsewhere. So again, not saying its the case as i have no way of knowing, but this could be one of those buyers who disagreed on what wear is, which is his right, and therefor left negative feedback hastily out of anger and disappointment. I would not neglect his experience, but compared to the 3600+ of positive feedback, i couldnt judge the seller as bad over his (or your) experience alone.

I find it best to take other people's experience into account and let them guide you, rather then let them dictate what you should or should not do. Regardless of if its a purchase or something else.

Im not defending this seller, nor saying everyone should or shouldnt buy from him really, im just arguing a point, that if you do your research, ask anal questions you stand a much better chance of not being disapointed. For example, i ALWAYS ask if the item will ship in a box, and how it will be protected during shipping, if im buying something that can easily be damaged in transit. Loose carts are fine in a bubble envelope for example, but a Sega CD case, standard cd case, cardboard box games etc i ALWAYS make sure they package it well, and have rarely seen a poor job as a result. So ask all these things, be thourough even if you shouldnt have to, because people are people and most people are fairly lazy and stupid, especially on ebay or internet-shopping as a whole. I purchased that new PC Engine RPG that was released not long ago, and forgot to ask how it was being shipped. It was shipped in a plastic envelope with NO bubble-wrap or other protection what so ever. Of course the case was crushed once it arrived with me here in sweden. Couldve been avoided with a simple question of upgraded shipping..

As for general ebay selling, the people i find to be bad sellers in general are those where i have recieved overly filthy items, or tobacco smoke infested items that are hard or impossible to get the smoke out of, where the condition has not been described. But again, if you ASK about that in particular, you have that covered if it goes to a dispute. I generally try to ask about tobacco smoke, but i forgot when i finally found a decently priced Mutant League Hockey boxed with manual. It arrived, and the manual itself stinks of tobacco smoke, so right now its in a plastic bag with kitty litter as that is said to help bring that out, if that doesnt work ill try baking soda. But i cant really go and complain as an afterthought. The seller should have described this yes, but again you, the buyer, has all the tools to avoid things like that by simply asking these types of questions. Therefor i didnt give him a bad or neutral feedback, but if i end up buying from him again, ill make sure to ask these things that should be obviously described to begin with.

Again, i want to clarify that i am not judging you, or telling you what you should or shouldnt have done to avoid this bad experience you had. I am simply sharing my thoughts and reasoning when it comes to buying items online, especially from abroad since thats usually the case for me, and therefor requires more forethought since issues will get expensive quickly as ebay do nor re-imburse international shipping yet requires expensive trackable shipping which may sometimes end up more expensive than the product itself, as was the case when i got scammed with a counterfeit DS3 controller from a Hong Kong vendor. It was simply not worth returning it.
#35
Thank you, i hope your issues gets resolved to your satisfaction too.
#36
Well, my items arrived in good condition as advertised. Mario kart needed some cleaning, but few are those ebay sellers who clean cartridge ports to begin with so nothing unusual there..

Considering my mistake of asking for combined shipping (but forgetting to mention i was in sweden) he said $1 per each game added, i couldve ended up paying more shipping. he first combined at $20 in a box (10 dust caps + one game), which i thought was a bit high, he lowered to $15 and i was happy. Considering he didnt even have to do that since i had already committed to buying, i think he was willing to work with me. I left him positive feedback. Cant speak of bernie's issues which i dont doubt are real, but my experience was good, no worse than the usual ebay experience for me. Id buy from him again.

Well this was an issue, since i asked to be let out of having to buy the mario game because his first combined shipping was more than i was willing to pay. I sent a message a day for three days asking to get out of it. He then finally returned saying he'd been busy preparing for christmas and gave me new combined shipping that i agreed to, which he didnt really have to, as it was MY mistake, and not his.

Thanks for the good wishes, we'll see what happens. so far im not too worried about our deal. Dust caps are only dust caps, and we'll see what shape the cartridge is. I am not doubting your story, but my items are less prone to the issues you had i believe.

Either way i can return with my experience once ive gotten the stuff if you want.
#40
Hum, i just bought Super Mario Kart and 10 snes dust covers off this guy, my first dealing with him. I messed up when i asked him about combined shipping and forgot to mention i was in sweden. He finally responded after my third email about that, and we finally agreed on an ok combined shipping rate of $15 for those items.

I never got the impression he was avoiding me though, this was the days before christmas so he very well might have been busy shopping gifts or what not, as he said he was.

I can post back here once i get my items to share what condition the stuff is in. It was all described as in good shape. and carried average ebay prices.

Quote from: guest on 09/17/2012, 12:41 PMThis is just one if the many things that the PCE pioneered that people take for granted now. The Sega-CD, Saturn and Dreamcast also have control based resets. Imagine how today's generation would react if you took away the 360/PS3 button from their pads?
Sega CD has a soft reset? How?
#45
Well, modern motherboards are more sensitive than older ones, but one reason as to why the PS3 lost its big on/off-button in the back while going "slim", has to do with the motherboard always staying warm. A motherboard that goes from warm to cold to warm to cold will develop problems over time. Im uncertain how much of a problem this is for older systems though. I could also see the logic in soft-reset to prevent possible corruption to save games, or simple spinning cd fumbling etc.. My 3DO FZ-10 doesnt have this feature, as far as im aware, and i always wait for the game disc to stop spinning after opening the lid (which resets the consol when you push it back down, without turning it off mechanically).

I brought it up because frank included shipping costs in his argument.

I cant say ive seen nice boxed DUO-R's sell for less than 200. But i havent looked outside ebay. Right now there are a few on ebay and they are all over 200 (or technically 199). Loose untouched ones are 170+

The cap issue is the advantage right there though. As far as my knowledge goes, which isnt expert i admit, the DUO-R has no cap issues to begin with.

Keep in mind im not talking which is the better constructed or built machine. Just prices. Recapping costs money, how much depends on if you can do it yourself, or have to ship it off to someone to have it done for you.

As for the cleaning, ive seen how he cleans them, and compared to others work, his seem way better. And it isnt free to do it yourself, you still need to buy the cleaning agents to do it and you might not get a good result etc.

As for your needs, or mine for that matter, those really are irrelevant when it comes to value for money as well. If you dont need what he adds, thats fine. You can buy another console cheaper elsewhere. But factor in all the stuff he does for 30 more (comparing ebay prices only because they are easily referensed for most people) and its not a massive markup. Im not saying you cant score a deal on forums or elsewhere mind you. People like to charge for their time for some reason, and he puts both time and effort, aside from component costs, into those 30. I think that is good value for money, regardless if you need his improvements or not.
