@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

I submitted this months ago, as in 2014,  to Dinosaur Dracula (Formerly X-Entertainment) when I heard he was looking for unique mugs, for an article;

Turns out, the TG-16 mug was popular. Years ago, could not give TG-16 away... almost. Now? Hot stuff.

http://dinosaurdracula.com/blog/coffee-cup-expo-2/

It was his featured pic, on his sister/brother site, "Mummyshark", advertising that installment of the mug parade - http://mummyshark.com/post/114462652927/another-25-dino-drac-readers-sent-in-photos-of

TG-16, you've come a long way.

That was a unique way to open the game.

I wouldn't mourn the loss of Power Golf's other accessories, though. I recall TZD mentioning they had enough copies, to line the walls of his mausoleum, when he dies. I think that may have been in Aaron's interview with him, that's featured on this site.... . I also think, the game was only $5 or so, for a while.

Boiling a Magical Chase, Dynastic Hero, Jackie Chan Action Kung-Fu, Beyond Shadowgate, Might and Magic 3, etc.... That would REALLY be something. Stupid, due to resale value of it, but, it would be more memorable than Power Golf.

I first owned Bloody Wolf, which I bought used, for $6 or so, in the early-mid 90's. I bought it, since it was so cheap, and I knew I'd eventually buy a TG-16.

At the end of the TG-16's life, I already had an Atari 2600, 5200, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, and a Gameboy I only used in waiting rooms and such. I had chances for a TG-16 before, but I went with the SNES and later genesis, first.

I purchased the TG-16 at Evans Distributors & Jewelers, in Maryland. Evan's was a catalog store, like BEST and Service Merchandise. I forget how much the TG-16 was. it was marked down pretty low, so I'd say, between $30-$50. I also bought 7-10 games, for $5 or so a piece, including RAIDEN.

Later on, I had trouble finding games, since most places had sold their stock, or it was picked through. Not much at TRU, Babbages, Software etc, Radio Shack, etc.

I called the 1-800-DUO-THIS number I saw in a game mag, they were happy to help, sent me catalogs, and I got most of my other stuff through TZD, off and on, until they closed.

I got my 2nd TG-16 deck, and 80-100 games, from a video store that was getting rid of stuff that wasn't renting.

I traded in that 2nd TG-16 deck to TZD, for a new Turbo Duo. I remember doing that near x-mas, and having to go to Radio shack for an RF Modulator, because the TV I wanted to play it on, lacked RCA jacks.

2006 or 2007 I bought a Duo-R from a Japanese seller, then shipped it out to some guy on this forum, I forgtet whom, and had it modified for S-video and a region switch.

2008 or so, I got a Turbo Express, from MindRec, that has screwy sound. I got it, not so much to play on, but just to have.

There was the group buy for the Turbo Everdrive in 2014, I got in on.

I no longer play the Duo machine, since I got the Duo-R modified.

Not exactly.  Mind you, this was before I had kids.  It was a night that ended with me in the next door neighbors' driveway (not my house, not my neighbor) curled up in the fetal position while vomiting.  This was all happening at the same time the neighbor happened to be pulling up the driveway.

Needless to say, many of my unmarried, non-parent friends ask why I don't hang out and party very much anymore.  My answer is I got it all out of my system from years passed.
Sometimes it's better you don't recall. I have some stories, but not sure what to post here

Everclear? My limit, was 151, anything beyond that, I did not want to mess with. I'd rather enjoy the liquor I drink, than not. It has been 10+ years since I've consumed Everclear, or 151.

I think it was last year, or the year before, a number of other states also made Everclear illegal.

Some people maintain their waistline as they grow older, while others retain their sanity. :P

Plus, there are certain advantages to being a big guy.  For instance:

  • I displace as much water as almost two of any other forumite, which comes in handy and makes me doubly useful in those situations where you need to displace water.
  • On flights, people tend to not want to sit next to me as I leave only 3/4 of a seat on either side for other passengers.
  • I can effectively anchor WAAAYYYY more helium baloons than you.
  • If I'm feeling lazy, I can just breathe heavy and slouch to be excused from any physical task. Nobody wants to make a fat guy keel over and die.
  • Any vehicle I drive naturally gets better traction in slippery winter conditions than it would get with you behind the wheel.
  • And last but not least: mobility scooters.  Ain't nobody get in my way when I back up down the cheetos aisle. BEEP BEEP BEEP "MOVE BITCH, GET OUT THE WAY, IT AIN'T EASY BEIN' CHEESY"
haha, Wow, I did not expect a Nulltard response, such as that!

"Chiller", about 1 day a week, or month, or something, for a long many hours block, re-runs TFTDS. Same with Monsters, and Friday the 13th: The Series. All are available on DVD now, also! Monsters, as of 2013.

*TFTDS DVDs, some episodes have their soundtrack edited a bit on DVD. Other than that, the other 2 series on DVD are as-aired, as far as I know. I watched every episode on the Monsters set, and it was as it should be, to my recollection, brief nudity and all (In that great episode, about the killer rats.). I've yet to attempt the same with TFTDS or F12 series.

Does anybody know if somebody did any research into this and came up with a list ? I've seen a website where one guy claims that 9 games were available at launch, and he had a list of games, but I need to see some more convincing evidence.

Also, is there any other specific information about the actual launch of the TG-16 in the USA ? Reason I ask, is because I know there was this one Sega Genesis newspaper article that confirmed the exact Genesis launch games. Maybe something like that is out there for TG-16 and I just have seen it yet.

If anybody knows of anything, please reply with a link... Thanks.

Quote from: Desh on 01/12/2015, 12:15 PMI'm still a noob but my reasons for being here are worth mentioning.

I have always kept my old gaming systems and played them frequently picking up "new" games here and there.  I heavily got back into "retro gaming" about 4 years ago.  I had been on a few automotive online forums previously and noted there was really only one that wasn't full of B.S. and drama.  I have been a member on that forum for about 12 years now.  I loved the NES and Genesis so I started lurking on Nintendoage, Segaage, Sega-16 and Famicom World.  I tried it but I couldn't stand the lack of intelligence on a lot of those forums as well as the "mine's bigger than yours" drama.  I figured gaming forums would not be my thing.

In my search for old consoles I didn't own growing up I started reading about the Turbografx 16.  I eventually purchased one and started enjoying it.  I originally came here for some technical information.  At first I was sad that I had to join rather than lurk.  However, Bernie pointed me in the direction of the info I needed.  Since I was signed up I started researching about games and ready posts. etc.  I realized that many of the people here were pretty cool and had a similar sense of humor to my own.  I started getting more active and can truly say this is THE BEST video game forum on the net.  It's not without some typical whining and such but nothing like I've seen on other forums.  It seems being a lover of NEC hardware takes a more "sophisticated" taste.  Thank you all for being awesome.
Desh, Sorry, but my NES sits on top of a SUPER BETA, and that NES has an original dustcover. Super Beta, still functions, too.

It's to the Water Wiggle, and Mr. Bucket's Balls, "Gauntlet", with ya, for being in the wrong thread, posting such a long post!

A lot of information, is long gone by now. Clif notes example; I recall ordering from TZD, their original warehouse. I ask about Turbo Force, lalalal, OK, they throw in a few issues in some orders. I think twice the same issue.

They move warehouse, late 90s, I ask again, "Oh, we threw all that stuff out when we moved".   "WHAT??!?!??!"   "Hey, did you want to pay shipping for all of them? Sorry, they went in the dumpster.".

I think after that I asked, why they didn't just put an issue in each order they put out, and I was told, "PHHHH, sure, and have to deal with complaints about bent magazines, do you have more, etc".

I understand, and still have good memories of TZD to this day. Good folks. Makes more sense, 15+ years later.

I imagine a number of TG-16 things, at least paper related, went that way.

There were lots of different ones. I had them for Mario, mostly. They were almost, "Forever" in ToysRUs' video game aisle clearance. I still have the once of Mario escaping the squid, somewhere.

Also had scenes from Zelda and Punch-Out, never had neither of those game's trophies, though.

I had to look these up, as I had no idea what these are. I skimmed through, and they seem to be statues that you do something with in games? I had something like that in the late 80s, early 90s from Nintendo. They were called, "Trophies", and had different game scenes, and a decal on them, where I was to ink my high score, and date of. They were, I think, sold as, "Trophies". They didn't communicate with games, though.

Sounds fine to me. I hope it doesn't go OOP before I can snag a copy, this time!

I meant to play an RPG in 2014, but didn't get around to it, except for Shadowgate on the NES, which is almost an RPG. RPGs I have to set aside time for, as I know from myself, in the past, I'd spend most of the day, then the following day, and so on, 'til I complete it. They can consume a lot of time. That's part of what makes me put RPGs on hold, and instead play something I can complete in a day!

I did similar with Dungeon Keeper 2 a few years ago, when I thought to myself, "Has it been 10 years since I last beat this?". It had been so long, I forgot that the, "Narrator" would taunt you, if you played the game past 3 or 4am :)
#44
I was absent from here, during the time that went for sale, then it went OOP when I returned... I'm getting back into the swing of things!

I never played the first Mysterious Song, so I have no idea if any surprises were there.

I just think, since these games are made for such a small audience, why not add some silly, odd stuff.? Not everyone is keen on that, but, I just know it would give me more incentive to play a game through, sooner than later, to see what easter eggs are there. PCEFX has been around a while, so there's enough history to sift through, for fun stuff.

I watched most of this, skimmed through monkey ball, and such.

Smash TV, great choice, Joe's other half. I enjoyed it in the arcade, and got the NES port, soon after it was available, and was so disappointed in it. 2 controllers, it worked ok, but, I never gave it much gameplay. While not the worst x-mas/birthday gift, it just so lacked what I was used to, in the arcade. It was one of the least played, NEW, NES games I owned.

Later, I got the SNES, bought SUPER Smash TV, for less than that NES version cost, and the controls took no getting used to. On the right of the controller, the top button shot up, bottom button shot down, etc. It was so nice.

No need for that anymore, since, though not a conversion, a Capcom Collection on PS2 has it. And those two thumb sticks, on those controllers, work fine, in that game.

Smash TV, on NES, though playable, sucked. I as glad when I got an SNES, and SUPER Smash TV was one of the first 5 games I got for it.

I don't know what the majority wants, but for such a small audience that buys this title, and actually plays it, wouldn't a, "Spoof" type RPG be fun? RPG, all the way, but... I don't know.. This is all I know!

It may be too late for this sequel... I'm sorry, I'm just trying to get in your world, PCEFXers...
