@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

You don't have to be a psychiatrist to see that you have these insecurities because you feel, as you well should, like the fraud you are; it's a well known fact that you didn't have a turbo as a kid! How dare you call me the new guy.

Must be why you're only at 7%
What a short memory you have. The reason I wasn't able to further my collection, which unlike most of you, I have the *right* to do since I'm a true fan is because I tried to help kids like you get started.

Exhibit A
The picture I painstakingly crafted for jtucci when he won my KC raffle:

I'm sure Stanley's nephew has long since flipped the Keith Courage I gave him, since he's a well known raffle abuser. In the very same thread he admitted he can't even keep track of all the raffles he enters:
Quote from: guest on 11/29/2014, 01:08 AMI completely forgot i entered this. Oops! Thanks though. I'll make good use of it, I promise.
He thinly veils his true intentions.. he probably had it flipped before it was delivered to him.

Whoa, is a loose Splatterhouse really going for $55 pcefx? Not accusing you of gouging, but if so, prices have gone up a lot since I last checked.
#3
I've been away from the forums for a few months, unfortunately it seems that some things never change.

You know, part of the reason I had to leave, a large part of it actually, was because I couldn't stomach all the price gouging and collectard mentality.

The day when Nulltard and those like him are gone, and trust me all the insta full set collectors eventually leave, will be the day that this community can really thrive.

Quote from: ginoscope on 11/22/2015, 04:01 PMWow if that works that would be fantastic seeing how much the US system card 3.0 goes for.
US 3.0 card price is based on it being rar3z. This is just a convenience so that you don't have to take the TED out when you want to play CD games.

When it does the Arcade card, I'll lift my head up. Best solution ATM is one turbob with the everdrive in for Hu games and next to it another with an Arcade card for CD games.

And if you don't have 2 turbobs, you should go buy another or 7 right now. And/or not bother with Arcade games coz there's hardly any good games for it, and certainly not for cheap.

Good trade-off/compromise.  You'll be happy with the MSX.  Even happier with MSX2.
Yes, I'm gonna go for an MSX2, I haven't done enough research to decide on the model model yet.

Do you have an MSX(2)?

Duo_R,

It's in good shape, unless you have OCD and obsess over minute scratches you'll be happy. I'm too lazy to take a picture.

sirhcman,

Do you mean NES advantage? A regular NES controller's membrane wouldn't fit.
#12
I've got a Vic 20 that's in pieces. I don't have the time to put back together, although it should work after reassembling the keyboard and making/buying an AV cable. I was going to drop it off at Goodwill, but seeing that it's in pieces they'll probably junk it, which is a waste.

The case is yellowed, but only minor scratches. There's some surface rust on the keyboard springs, and a colony of dust bunnies living inside of it. It comes with a couple games, some manuals/books, and everything it needs to run again sans AV out cables.

For the price of shipping it's yours.

Buy/Sell/Trade / Wonky Joystick FS
06/26/2015, 03:42 PM
It's in pretty good condition, and everything works except for the 2 button. The board itself is fine, it's an issue with the membrane, the conductive part is damaged.

Since I haven't been able to find another one, it's useless to me. Combine it with your broke one to make a working one, or challenge yourself by going for a highscore without the 2 button!

Any reasonable offered accepted, or trade for a broken controller / controller giblets.

Thanks for the links. From the console5 description:

I'm editing my original post, although at this point looks like I'm gonna have to pay through the nose for not buying tantalum caps in bulk.
#15
I don't think I've ever seen them for sale, and more often than not they're missing. If you really have to have it, you'll probably have to get a new Core Grafx with the cover and selling your old one.

Even rarer are the controller port covers, I've only seen them on the original PC Engine, and I can't even find a picture of one now. I'm not sure if they came on other consoles, or even all PC Engines, anyone know?

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 02/11/2015, 11:46 AMI bought my Turbo Duo new from the EB in Midland; Mi, also purchased there; Dungeon Explorer 2, Riot Zone; Sim Earth, Cosmic Fantasy 2, Lords of Thunder, Cockwing Fuck. From the Diehard Game Club in Waterford, Mi; Yuna 2, Startling Odyssey 2, Dragon Ball.

Oh, you mean in the last 10 years? Well, it happens. At the Midwest Gaming Classic there was actually quite a bit of Turbo and PCE. Working CD systems are always a problem, always have been, but basic games are not. Price is the issue. People always say, "I saw Blazing Lazers for $200" or whatever. This is because they wanted to actually have a Turbo thing in their store for a minute. If they charged anything like a reasonable price then it would be gone in seconds. As a store owner those are your choices; charge 8x what it's worth so it will be there, or charge a fair price and see the first customer who walks into your store by it.

There were plenty of Turbo games to go around originally. What happened was that now the power collector is the standard. Everyone who owns a Turbo feels the need, for some fucking reason, to own every game. They will NEVER play this stuff, they just want to own the "complete" collection before they inevitably dump the whole thing on a new generation of complaining noobs. With every system owner now hoarding 20x as much software as NEC manufactured, scarcity has been artificially made real.
You and my grandpop are cut from the same jib. He was a gas station attendant since way back when, even before Ike put in the interstate system, a real OG.

He did it all, wiped your windshield, checked your fluids, topped up your oil.. but there was one thing he really loved since before it was in vogue: pumping gas.

Back in his glory days he pumped em all hi-tess, lo-tess, midgrade.. he handled that nozzle like Clint Eastwood handles a six shooter in a spaghetti western.

You should see how the vein on his forehead swells up to the size of a prized wriggler when Rick Dale comes on the T.V. with his restored gas pumps.

And you can understand of course, those people are taking the tool of grandpop's trade, tarting it up, rendering it inoperable, and selling to folks who don't even have 1 day of fossil fuel jockeying under their belt. Even worse it's pricing real petroleum injection specialists like grandpop out of the market.

Quote from: kiketonto on 02/11/2015, 02:31 AMthere are no flea markets here in Spain.
besides it's difficult to find games in s&T forums, so...
For everyone in North America who think turbobs are hard to find, Spain is orders of magnitude worse. It's nearly impossible to find anything, even online. When you find something, generally the price is absurd, like this boxed NES for 275€.

I just searched loquo, Spain's craigslist, for "turbografx" and "pc engine", no hits for the entire country.

kike, have you ever been to RetroMadrid?

Got mine yesterday. Thanks for doing these sparky.
#24
Heh, I knew that was coming.

TurboGrafx, (nice name, surprised it wasn't taken) welcome to the forums.

These forums are more about general NEC enthusiasm and less about buying and selling. A lot, maybe the majority, of members don't like full set collecting.

That being said, most of the best deals are made on these forums. If you show passion for the turbob and that's your reason for wanting a full set, people here will help you. But it won't happen overnight, it  would probably take a couple years to source all those games here.

If you're just a general vidya game collector whose after a NA HuCard set because of the small library, you're probably better off on ebay.

Quote from: choijimmy on 11/06/2014, 07:58 PMRegarding the losing little black ring, I had been suffered for this a long while. Evetually, I am able to find the good replacement.  What I found is Highland Barley paper 0.2mm is able to subsitute the black ring. What I did is cut the paper into circle shape, the use cutter to cut a very small hole in the center. Also, cut circle from the boundry toward to the hole to make the cicrle opened.
Then try to put the circle back to the axis to see if it fits. If the hole is too small,  you can adjust a little bit until it fits.

For those of you suffer the same issue, and unable to find 0.2 mm or thinner highland barley paper, I can give some to you for free (yes, even you don't buy gears from me )

Just want to share the solution / happiness for finding the replacement.

Thanks
Jimmy
It's hard to find outside of Asia, maybe you could try thick paper?

Does anyone know what the distribution of NEC products was in North America? Weren't the majority of US sales in the NYC metropolis?

Turbobs were rare here when I was a kid and they're rare now.

I've wanted a 3DS for a while, but I kept waiting for the "new'" 3DS to be released. Last week I saw that the 2DS had been reduced to $100 and I impulse bought it. A couple days later I see the new 3DS announcement, haha.

I don't regret it though, I've been having a blast with Bravely Default. Any 3DS hidden gems (all genres)?

If you'd like I can send you an adapter that I've tested working, if it works keep it and send me some $$ through paypal. If it doesn't you know the problem is in the controller and you can mail the adapter back to me.

Radio Shack 12v 1.5 amp power supply.

The newest system I own is a Dreamcast, so I'm not used to new gen load times ;)

I'm going off the longplay I linked to load times, plus the load times on a Duo (the Duo load times are in-between the longplay and the TG-CD).

Do different CD models have different load times?

So I just tried the same TG-16 and dock with another CD unit . I'm getting the same slow load times.

It appears to be a problem in the dock / power supply. I'll check the power the dock is getting and see if any of the caps are leaking.

I can understand why people don't like Metal Jesus, but I watch his videos sometimes. He's not my go to source for TG-16 information though. Content has to be dumbed down to appeal to the masses.

At least Metal Jesus isn't a complete set collector. I don't care if people collect entire sets, but I thought people bought games they liked and once they had those filled in the gaps with the junk.

The guy I linked to picked up 17 games of which ~5 he liked.
