Great dude to deal with. Bought a bunch of games off him awhile ago and they were packaged super well.

Hope all is well across the pond, holmes!

My fiance's parents place is only about 45 min away from the convention center. Hell yeah.

I knew I was marrying her for a good reason. I'm just happy I finally figured that reason out!

Quote from: tbone3969 on 01/14/2016, 02:30 PMWow sounds legit.  I am skeptical because I have been hearing about VR coming out soon for over 20 years now but it seems we may be on the verge of it actually happening.  So cool.
Totally hear you, and I completely agree. I remember back in the NES days,  some company released an HMD and was absolutely terrible. 2 extremely low quality screens in front of each eye, and it weighed a ton. Years later, I remember going to North Pier in downtown Chicago to the VR space next to the arcade that was located there (across from Battletech) and played Dactyl Nightmare. It was really cool, but again it wasn't the highest quality and made me nauseous as fuck.

2016 is the year that VR is for real.

I've had a DK2 for about as long as they've been available. I've played some demos, grabbed a few games that make great use of it (Elite: Dangerous is incredible with it, even when I spent my time just doing single player tutorials), and fiddled around with various sdk's.

However, it always felt like a pain in the ass to get it set up correctly, both hardware wise and in-game/app settings, and even after I had it configured, there was always another issue. It was the closest I've been to legit VR that wasn't vomit-inducing (Dactyl Nightmare *urk*) and I can see the immense potential behind it, but the general usability behind getting it up and working reliably frustrated me.

When CV1 preorders opened, I didn't give it a second thought and positioned myself comfortably on to the hype train. It struck me later though - "Hey, didn't they update the runtime semi-recently? I wonder how much the DK2 experience improved with it..."

Holy. Shit. Night and day. Everything is so much smoother and easier to set up. I updated an app I had downloaded in the past that lets you navigate the windows desktop in a virtual environment and had my mind blown. Doing shit with windows inside of a giant, 150" curved screen floating in a giant space nebula is seriously cool, but then I wondered how well emulators would work.

So I loaded up Aero Blasters and had an amazing amount of fun, but the part that completely sold me in regards to VR was changing the background of the virtual desktop from the space nebula to the "home theater" layout. When I switched to it, I found myself sitting in home theater-like seating and a giant 180"-ish movie screen in front of me.

If you can get a chance to try the rift any time soon or after the CV1 is launched, I strongly suggest you give it a try with virtual desktop and some retro emulation. I absolutely cannot wait until I have my CV1 in hand.

Pretty sure you're talking about this one? I remember playing Sonic Adventure on it at Funcoland right when the Dreamcast came out. I drooled over this guy for yeeaarrsss.

Ready Player One was a pretty fun read and full of all kinds of nostalgia. Had a blast with that one.

Shovel Knight is a damn gem. That and Rogue Legacy were all I played for weeks.

Completely agree. I understand there could be some pricey components in these fancy shmancy controllers, but I feel like 50-60 bucks these days is asinine. It's pretty ridiculous that if I actually want to do some 4 player co-op on a PS4, I'd have to drop ~$250 on controllers if I can't find a deal.

Not to mention that, for how much you pay for these controllers, the battery life is for shit (or at least that's what I've come across with PS4 controllers).

I assume that PGM2 was from the neo-geo group buy? I tossed and turned on jumping on to that for days. Shit looks real purdy.

A buddy of mine told me that apparently only 420 copies of Devil's Third was available at gamestops country-wide. Damn happy I was able to get a copy for myself as well.

Nice pickups!

Just got mine yesterday and I couldn't be happier with them.

Quote from: MNKyDeth on 11/17/2015, 01:14 PMI love Phantasy Star.... I just wanted to mention that the Phantasy Star 2 you have there is not complete.

Everything looks original but the game came with it's own hint guide. I do not see that in the pic. It even specifies that it is included right on the box. However I do see that you have the map. :)

I don't mean to be a douche about it just pointing it out.
Oh shit, I didn't even realize that. Thanks a ton for pointing that out. Last thing I would want to do is trade someone something that wasn't what I said it was. I'll double check when I get home and update the post if that indeed the case.

Definitely not a douche whatsoever! You definitely kept me from making an ass out of myself! Thanks!

Hey-o.

Long story short, I'm a moron and I have 2 copies of L-Dis coming to me. I've gotten a lot out of this site in a short amount of time, so I think this may be a good time to give something back.

The game should be here in the next few days, but would you guys be interested in a raffle for a case + manual copy of L-Dis? Only thing is I'm not sure if it has a spine or not just yet.

If yes, I'll start thinking about how to gain entry in to the raffle, mainly because I want you guys to do something entertaining for entry outside of "have X posts, etc etc". Once I get the game and take some pictures, I'll post a thread for the raffle.

The Brune is sweeter and has less of the same kind of after taste the blonde has. I'm not the best in terms of describing that kind of stuff, but I also have the same feelings towards the blonde so I'm guessing you also may enjoy the Brune more.
#22
Quote from: MNKyDeth on 10/29/2015, 11:15 AMI know I am replying a lot here but yeah toymachine Saisons are usually very good imo. The few Belgium beers I have tried are Hoegaarden ?   and Leffe. Both were solid although Leffe had a hard after taste. The first two beers were a bit hard to drink but after that they went down easy peasy lol.
Have you tried both Leffe Blonde and Leffe Brune? I greatly prefer the brune over the blonde.
#23
The higher ABV, the higher the chance I'll like it.

These days I've been drinking more liquor than anything, just to keep the beer belly from getting any larger. I stick with either Hendricks Gin or Red Breast 12 or 15 year. The fiance is pretty damn irish and drinks Jameson like it's water, so I use that as a go-to when my mainstays aren't around.

Beer wise - Dragon's Milk, Bourbon County Stout, Dogfish Head 90 Minute, Delerium Noel, and Chimay Blue are fantastic.

If my friends and I are playing drinking games though? Cheap beer FTW. Ain't no way I'm wasting the good and pricey stuff on a game of Hockey.

I just did a trade for Lords of Thunder so please don't add me, but good luck everyone! I'm so goddamn jazzed to play it when it gets to my place!

Quote from: guest on 10/26/2015, 11:25 AMSaturday's mail brought me a copy of Lego Hobbit for the Vita.
I always pass on the Lego games cause they make like 10 of them a year. They're supposed to be pretty fun though yea?
I feel like some of the lego games are definitely better than others. The Indiana Jones and initial Batman games were kind of eh to me.

Quote from: EvilEvoIX on 10/24/2015, 12:12 AMI visited this place called "People Play Games" In Chicago, and my god they had everything.   So many rare copies from pretty much every system.   Spider Man Web of Fire 32X in the box, $1,000.00.  Everything they had was just overpriced, extremely overpriced, I mean double eBay pricing.  IDK how they stay in business but they had boxed, unopened NES games by the Dozen and unopened Final Fantasy SNES games and so on.

I rummaged around and got some cheap knick knacks.

Very cool store but couldn't really buy anything in there.
I used to go to that store a ton and bought a whole boatload of crap over the years. I definitely agree though that the rare stuff there can be on the ridiculous side price-wise. The owner and his dad are nice, though I have friends who have commented on the owner acting rude at times (that's never been my experience though). Outside of the rare stuff behind glass, you can usually find some stuff at decent prices.

I had a mobo and was planning on getting Dolphin Blue for it, but after I had a chance to actually play it in Japan, I was pretty disappointed with it and ended up selling the mobo off. I feel like the platform could have had a chance but it just came out too late.

Quote from: Sinizar on 10/22/2015, 12:06 PMNo response yet from the person selling these.  Anyone know if he is still making them?  It doesn't seem that long ago that people were getting them.
I'm not complaining or anything since I know how real life has this tendency to be an asshole and get in the way of things, but I also sent a message about a week ago or so and never heard back as well...

This is definitely one that I would love to own for myself. Even though I'm not great at shooters, I do love to play them. I usually don't have the patience to learn the more intricate and complicated scoring systems and bullet patterns, but I'll sure see how far I can get with just gut reflexes.

I already have the english instructions, but I have the JP Tonma huey. I haven't been able to get a good read on what the card-only price is for a US Tonma unfortunately so I'm a bit in the dark in regards to acceptable offers. I do have a good amount of stuff I'd be willing to use as trade fodder, so I'll start adding trade items to this thread as I come across them. Cash can always help make up price differences as well, of course.

Quote from: johnnykonami on 10/08/2015, 05:05 PMOh man, I wanted one of those back in the day, but I guess the selling point of watching DVDs as well has long passed.  As much as loved the GC, I never even got a standard one.  I have to rectify that one day.  I worked with them every day for years when I was a tester, I guess that's why I didn't jump on it.
It was one of those consoles I always wanted when I saw it announced back when I was in college. In all honesty, I already have a modded one so I'm passing the console on to a buddy of mine for dirt cheap. I really just wanted the box and packaging, along with the complete game boy player.

Oof yeah, I don't blame you for ignoring the GC. Doing QA on anything like that would make me shun it pretty hard as well.

If I remember correctly, it can do surround sound for the movies as well. Not 100% sure though.

QuoteUnderrated device. Definitely looks to have some decent power under the hood.
I'll look to see what emulators I can load on it.
I remember playing with one a few times at a store downtown and fell in love with the design and feel of it. Being a broke college student at the time kept that love under lock and key though.

Quote from: guest on 10/07/2015, 07:59 AMAVP blew my mind back in the day... and I have NEVER cared for FPS games. AVP didn't age all that well, but it was an awesome experience for the time period like senor Monkey de Losto points out.

Next to Silent Debuggers, nothing tops the suspense and "oh shit" factor of hearing a cloaked predator clicking or whispering.

I would pick a Jagwire over a Nintendon't 64 any day. Anyone who doesn't agree is a french whore with lengthy armpit hair.
Picking between the jag and the n64 sounds like the worst possible "Would you rather" game ever. Please don't make me play either.
Agreed with everyone. I grab games I've either always wanted to play or games that hold special meaning to me these days. I got carried away years ago, but I've slowly (slowly) started selling off or trading stuff to people and dramatically shrinking down my collection. Fuck it's been hard parting with some of this shit though.

AVP has been the only game I've kept from my Jag collection though, just because I always wanted it as a kid. Nothing else really grabbed me that I couldn't have elsewhere. I'd take Sin & Punishment on N64 over anything else I've played on the Jags though.

Quote from: Bloufo on 10/06/2015, 11:16 AMThe home button doesn't always work. That's on me, though. When I changed the battery (the replacement just won't fit all that comfortably seeing as that new battery is a little longer and thicker) I reckon I must have inadvertently caused some issue in there.

No biggie, though. In any case, the unit has touch-screen capabilities, so in most instances I'm able to exit to "home" via that touch-screen.

Been a lurker on this site for quite awhile, but lately I've been re-bit by the collector bug and would like to hunt down games I've always meant to pick up for TG16/PCE. I figure if I'm going to be a bit more active on the trading subforums, I should properly introduce myself.

I'm Andy from Chicago. White Sox over cubs, deep dish is great but only rarely since that shit will go straight to your love handles, and ketchup doesn't belong on hot dogs (but dammit, I'll do it anyways).

I used to frequent the neo-geo boards a ton back in the day (I'm grandmascrack over there), but I don't really collect as much as I used to and life has just gotten too crazy and hectic to keep up with the drama.

Hola.
