I wanted to finish my sequel to the gift I gave Bartre last year. But had a family crisis which resulted in me having to move. I will finish it for 2017 though, and I demand Bartre share his 2015 gift for Christmas

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 09/09/2016, 08:55 PMFuck, I hate this post. This obsession with "failures". WTF is a failure? LD? LD was *the* premium video format for 20 fucking years. Is that not good enough? Sure the sales weren't amazing, but that's because it was a premium format. Most people don't buy premium anything. Now there are no premium formats and soon there won't be any formats at all. Therefore, none of these "failures" you hate so much. Just...iPhones and things that look exactly like iPhones. Paradise, right? No more risk.I had a Virtual boy back in the day, and bought one again. I traded my first for a TV so I could have two TV's in my room and be the cool two TV kid. I have and enjoy the 32x as well. My point in bringing them up along with the Go, as they are commonly seen as failures, despite what or why exactly they failed. They failed because of bad ideas/planning.
As NecroPhile says, many of these "failures" flopped for completely different reasons and without understanding the context it's a meaningless distinction.
I wonder how far into the future people will cite the 32X as some sort of illustrative lesson. It's already more than 20 years old. When I'm buying my holochamber 64 in 40 years will some wiki-smart guy say, "Dude, remember the 32X? This is just like this. It will fail".
I'm sure at least one guy who blew $700 on a 3DO died in a car crash or something the next week. He never lived long enough to see the thing flop out, it was the hottest shit on the planet for what ended up being the rest of his life. Is his enjoyment negated because of the 3DO's massive failure?
I don't even know what these new systems are, I just think the question is played out and pointless. What's fun is fun. This is a fucking PC Engine forum after all. You'd think anyone who would bother with joining wouldn't ask such a question.
Also, I find your comedic portrayal of drug addition to be distasteful.

You ignore a lot of the crap hoping things turn out right, but then she becomes a wreck and years later, you're like... the signs were there why did I ignore them?
Quote from: guest on 07/02/2016, 09:21 PMCan you change the duke togo figurine's clothes too? Asking for a friend.Unfortunately his clothes weren't made to come off... at least by my hands. However, your.....friend may enjoy this with the lights off.

Can't quite place them but they definitely seem familiar...

Quote from: Medic_wheat on 06/18/2016, 07:26 PMI actually liked it lol.I have to admit, I did too. I think for me I was at that young age where nothing is suspicious or cheesy and you just accept things.
Quote from: esteban on 06/15/2016, 09:51 PMI guess you don't like the COBRALALALALALALALALAQuote from: TR0N on 06/15/2016, 08:32 PMI wish I had more of the GI Joe comics when I was a kid.Quote from: Medic_wheat on 06/15/2016, 08:24 PMCrashing through the nightGI-JOE is there !!! I must say i rather watch the animated gi-joe movie then the live action one.Still the idea for cobra commander origin was a terrible idea.I prefer the comic books take where he was a used car salesmen.
Cobra!
I still remember this awesome issue where... Major Bludd blows up a station wagon of nuns with a bazooka.
Or something like that.
Anyway.
COBRAHHHHHHHH.
Quote from: MNKyDeth on 06/12/2016, 03:07 AMGreat Episode, I am curious if they were limiting themselves to 8 and 16 bit consoles though? You just need the right guy doing the music
I mean, most of the games that were cd based in this generation had incredible music I thought. But when you go from some poor 8bit Nes stuff (granted some is good) to a full featured redbook cd-audio it's really hard to go back.
But then I just end right back at Ys 1&2 because this is one of the first games on CD I ever heard and I was immediately blown away until I heard Gate of Thunder that also came with my TurboDuo. I really couldn't get enough of either one of them at the time.

Quote from: Medic_wheat on 06/18/2016, 10:02 AM...I mixed up July 18 with June 18 lolQuote from: Enternal on 06/18/2016, 09:20 AMAlmost time for SÖLDNER-XThat's the one I am waiting for. Sure that October dad is coming out tomorrow but it never interested me. Not even as a budget title.
However the marketing with Father's Day is pretty good. I have to give them creadit for that
Quote from: wilykat on 06/18/2016, 05:47 AMI used to buy mystery PSX but quit buying a few years ago. I have around 30 right now and only 2 had problem reading discs. I figure if I sit on this pile long enough I can sell it for about 10x what I paid (mostly $5, often with video cord and controllers)I would just junk the 360, even if you fix the RROD the solder is brittle, the xclamp flexes the board causing issues, and the whole series of Fat 360 were just band aids fixing things along the way. Its just too unreliable to fix and resell, since it can have issues a few days after fixing. On the other hand if its for yourself, its real quick to pop the system and hit it with a heat gun. Outside of that its not worth the time to reball/re-solder the system while the slims are so cheap.
Right now I have 2 other consoles that needs something. A PS3 with YLoD and XBox360 with RRoD. Both has no video out. Both were cheap. $20 for PS3 with 80GB HD, the fat one with 2 controllers, and $30 for 360 with cables, 3 power supplies (dunno why) and 3 controllers, no HDD.
SO what to do with them? Could sell controllers, 360 cables and 360 power supplies.

Quote from: Trenton_net on 05/05/2016, 12:19 PMWe did get the translated Rondo of Blood even if those had pesudo ports. (snes/psp)Quote from: technozombie on 02/05/2016, 01:19 PMSince those game are available in English through the Sega CD, it makes much more sense for hackers to put their effort into completely unlocalized games. Xanadu 1/2, anearth fantasy stories, and emerald dragon to name a few.I somewhat agree with this, but you can't deny that Snatcher keeps coming up as a major topic time and time again. At the very least it shows that there is great demand for a translation, even if an English version does exist in the form of the Sega CD. The problem is, regardless of public demand you need to get stakeholders to buy into the idea (Ie. people with the talent who can do translation patches), and it seems most just go "play the Sega CD version".
Considering how often the subject comes up, I would have assumed someone would have just done it already to get the monkey off the translation scene's back. It would stop the Snatcher topic from coming up again and again, plus it would make (I would think, in my humble opinion) a large portion of the PCE community very happy. Not that they are owed anything, but just to say that the effort would be sincerely appreciated and not gone to waste.

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 05/23/2016, 02:57 PMI was thinking of ports that I would have wanted at the time. This was a time where me and my friends were practicing Final Fight moves in the swimming pool, and the thought of two guys going through the streets and taking out a horde of guys with their fists was a realistic ideaQuote from: TheClash603 on 05/22/2016, 02:22 AMI first played it when it came out so that wasn't it. The issue is that I had already played or played at about the same time, in the same arcade, Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden, Renegade, P.O.W., Street Smart, etc and Final Fight doesn't do anything those games didn't do and often it does less. It just has big sprites. It's a high end Crest of Wolf.Quote from: SignOfZeta on 05/21/2016, 06:45 PMFinal Fight isn't even that good in the arcade. Big sprites, whoopie. It is a game that doesn't hold up that well. When it came out it was incredible, but something is missing when you go back to it.
Hagar is mayor. I have to admit that's pretty cool.
Quote from: Joe Redifer on 05/22/2016, 04:35 AMYou should blame me instead since I reviewed it! It's a great game with even better music.
Quote from: Bloufo on 03/24/2016, 02:27 PMQuote from: TDIRunner on 03/24/2016, 02:03 PMIt doesn't take up much space (unless height is an issue). The footprint is tiny when used with a CDX.
Quote from: SamIAm on 03/20/2016, 08:47 PMMy two-cent armchair retrospect strategy for Sega in 1994 would be to can the 32X and the Saturn both. Sony's Playstation was just too well-designed to take on directly with anything, let alone the mess that the Saturn was. Instead, drop the price of the Genesis and the Sega CD as low as possible to ride out the storm until 1996, then release a system with the processing power of the N64 and the CD storage of the Playstation. And have a damn 3D Sonic game ready at the release.I agree that it was a bad business move to release the 32x. But holding out against the Playstation, probably wouldn't have worked. The added resources of not releasing the 32x could have aided a more 3d friendly Saturn design or at least a Sonic game on release. Further the Saturn did well against the Playstation early on in Japan.
Quote from: SamIAm on 03/16/2016, 10:44 PMThe 32X is one of those things that, in death, manages to be forgiven of its sins.Double agreed, good post.
In 1995, it was utterly ridiculous, but these days, if you're a Genesis fan, picking up an old 32X and some games for cheap is a gateway to a hell of a weird and fun experience. Tempo and Knuckles Chaotix are the crowning games on the system thanks to their mid-90s Sega gaudiness that I honestly enjoy quite a lot.
In addition, Space Harrier is a rock-solid classic, Kolibri is a great game to show guests and go in for 2P simulteneous, Shadow Squadron is a surprisingly decent early 3D game with a nice framerate, and Blackthorne, while not my personal cup of tea, has its best port on the 32X.
Mortal Kombat II is arguably just as good or better on the SNES, though - better music, better backgrounds, and no loss in gameplay. The 32X port only has slightly nicer sprites and cleaner voice samples.
