@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

I got Klax the other day for very cheap XD. It's really fun. I never tried it until I saw it at Galloping Ghosts.

I tried a TurboStick at Louisville Arcade Expo with a few games. It was great for Dragon Spirit but a little clunky for Bonk's Revenge. I think for shooters it'd be great and I'd like one for that reason. But for platforming games and other types, I think I'd prefer a TurboPad :).
#7
So I'm curious. Did the original displays just have a 21" CRT TV in them? Or did they have a specialized TV that went into them?

Regardless, it's very cool!

Thank you for including me and organizing this jtucci31 :)
#9
I'm interested in buying if this is happening :).

I don't see where that link is on the first page so thanks for the info.

If I knew anything about the PC-FX library, I'd be more inclined elmer. I literally know nothing about it. It'd be a pretty poor review if I just picked a game from someone else's Top Ten :(.

I laughed haha. The part where he tries to grab the floating D cracked me up

Did someone say BDSM? Got my interest

I picked up Super Bonk and Super Bonk 2 off eBay for a steal :). Getting a Turbo has fed my addiction for Bonk games. They're so fun and so cute!

Oooo I was planning on going to this and CCAG! I really enjoyed the room PCEFX had at MGC so I'm looking forward to this as well :).

Not sure how serious we are about reviewing games but I'd be willing to take a crack at it. I have absolutely no bias other than me not understanding how to get a PC-FX to work after 10 minutes at Louisville Arcade Expo. I didn't even knew it existed until three months ago. I've written a few reviews, mostly related to mechanical keyboards but I like writing reviews in general. Not sure how feasible it would be for someone to loan me their console and games but I'd definitely would be interested. Just floating that out there :). Esteban, come teach me the ways of PC-FX and a crash course in Japanese!
#17
Send it my way. I'll personally inspect the shrink wrap and *ahem* test if it's working. ;)
#18
Haha this is great! I can't wait to listen to people's music based off Hu Cards.

Wow. I learned way more about esteban then I ever wanted to in that post :))

Hmm so I scored at a local thrift store but I've had luck at St Vincent de Paul too. Scored GTA Vice City for $2 and a Sony Walkman cassette player for $8 NOS. But it's weird because the same store I bought the TV at was trying to sell a Sony PS1 controller for $22. I think it's really dependent on which individual person is pricing as was mentioned before. So I always check Goodwill, Salvation Army, SVDP, and any other thrift store because you never know when you'll catch em slipping.

I only got to play Gates of Thunder for a few minutes at MGC but I knew I loved that soundtrack for a reason. Great comparisons vacantplanets! I need to get a cd attachment and that game  now!

Quote from: cr8zykuban0 on 05/07/2015, 03:32 PMdamn,  a crt for a buck? that's awesome! I was able to get about a 19 inch from a nephew of mine for free since they were throwing it out. I actually havent seen any crt tvs in the goodwills in my area at all now that I think about it
Back when Goodwill's were actively taking them as donations in my area (ended December of last year but I've seen a few sneak in) they were frequently priced at .49 - 1.99
I was so happy to find the TV! Especially since like DragonmasterDan said, a lot of thrift stores are now no longer accepting TVs for some reason. I think that store was selling CRT TVs from $0.29 to $3.99. And the smallest size was 17". :D

What's BSTR out of curiosity? I'm probably not able to qualify but I think it's great you're paying it forward :)

Been playing Raystorm on PS2 a lot lately (via Taito Legends 2). I really like it but I'm still learning the game.

I finally picked up a CRT TV to enjoy all my old consoles on. I've been playing on this monitor with a TN panel I have which has television and computer hookups. Extremely convenient but I really didn't like how the picture quality was. TN panels aren't ideal for TG16 or SNES. Scored a 19" Samsung CRT in good condition for $1 at the thrift store. I was having issues finding that size; I have to have something smaller since I don't have a very big apartment.

Has a company sold off their IP like we're suggesting before? Is it actually possible for the community to pool money together to get something or is this just a joke? I'm curious even though it seems like a joke to me :).

Not to derail the thread or anything, but if you need someone to print you a sticker for cheap, let me know. I've got access to a vinyl printer and the place doesn't charge much to use the printer.

High Score Records / Re: Twin Galaxies
05/06/2015, 04:10 PM
It's an arcade in Otumwa, Iowa. The original owner Walter Day started the Twin Galaxies organization to track high scores for arcade games. It's apparently branched out to consoles as well.

So I really don't know much about PC-FX so please be gentle. When SamIAm finishes the translation, he'll put in on a CD or flash card and one could play it on the PC-FX? Or is this an emulator only kinda deal?
#30
Played some Dragon Spirit last night and Mario and Luigi Dream team the night before.
#31
Wish I could remember mine. I want to say it was Starcraft BroodWar or Rollercoaster Tycoon for the PC. But I'm not sure.

I didn't get to experience a lot of the games y'all did. I didn't even know TG16 existed until last year or so.

The retro video game youtube influx has really drawn a lot of people into older systems. I know things like Game Sack and Video Game Years aren't that popular around here but they do bring awareness and an introduction.

Just got my games today. Everything works fine and is in good condition. Thanks for the pleasant transaction cjameslv

FUCK
That is a terrible game. My condolences.

Ugh my Earthbound file somehow got wiped so instead of enjoying that, I got mad and went to start a Mario and Luigi Dream Team file.
#35
Just stumbled on to this thread and I'm really excited to give this a listen. I'll leave some feedback after but as it stands right now, I don't see any issue with it being audio only

I listen to a lot of hardcore and metal. Both genres which I believe should best be seen/heard live. So music videos like this capture the energy much better than a CD.

Game Swap
2028 Florence Mall, Florence, KY 41042
Store is on 1st floor in Zone B

Last time I was there, the store had three boxed TurboGrafx games (Klax, Legendary Axe, and Devil's Crush) and a boxed Turbografx console that came with two boxed controllers and a boxed Turbostick. Game Swap is a chain in the Cincinnati/Norther Kentucky area so the other stores may have TG16 stuff later. But in the last couple of months that I've checked, only Florence had Turbo stuff.

I too am looking forward to playing this game

I love the NGPC so much. Got into sometime last year  and it was mainly to grab the two Metal Slug games on it. Probably two of the most affordable Metal Slug games out there. I have this fantasy of collecting everything Metal Slug but I'm not sure it will happen

Quote from: galam on 04/24/2015, 07:38 PMwelcome.  did you have to travel far to get to MGC?  i know a few folks treked many miles to get there.
I drove up from Cincinnati. About an 8 hour drive. Totally worth it.

Yep, they come from the land of Chop and they are pretty frickin' sweet.
Aw man...that is really cool. I didn't realize you could do Hu card repros like other consoles @.@

Didn't know there were wireless PS2 controllers until last week. This arrived today to rectify that gap in my life :).
Yes!  PROTIP:  You can connect the sensor to a PCE classics converter from Tototek and use it on your PCE!
So a little google-fu Led me to this how-to. Very cool! So my next questions are

1) Can I use this on my TG16? If not directly, can I get a PCE -> TG16 converter cable and get this working?

2) Where do I buy the Tototek converter? eBay? I see they offer it on Their website. I assume it's reputable?

Thanks for the info! There's so much to learn!! :)

I'm very excited for this :D. I just discovered that people were making homebrew hu-card games and I'm very eager to try one out.

Sorry esteban! I just paid :(

Quote from: JoshTurboTrollX-16 on 04/21/2015, 12:09 PMWe could do some sort of "Learn Japanese/play PC-FX" crossover.  Get some simple less wordy text games (Team innocent?) and push it as a way to educate yourself WHILE playing some fun games?
I'd actually be really into that. That sounds like a good time.
