Thanks for the support and offers guys! I plan to have the files available for distribution soon possibly with some added notes if I can still find them.

My Anearth Fantasy Stories walk through website will be disappearing soon. Hoped to have it up until the translation came out but that may not happen in my lifetime.

Thanks all!

Project dead or just resting?
#4
Thanks for this! Much appreciated.
#8
All the magic scrolls, gear and special items are shown that way in the game (yellow text followed by a picture of said item) so yep, very important. Carry on!
#10
Been tried in the past. Almost impossible to find anyone who can/will take the time to actually do the translating.
#13
Color me interested! What type of story are you planning? Sci-fi? Fantasy? Mystery?
#14
Enjoyed your Ghost Manor review! I've always thought it was a decent game except for the "waiting for elevators" part and the damn fire pits. Good stuff.
#15
Thanks! This is going on my desk.
#16
Glad to see progress on this.

I have a favor to ask of anybody who is playing through the game for the translation. If you have screenshots of items I'm missing in my walk through ( http://m1sz1.com/anearth/gear.html ) or any additional information, corrections etc. please PM me so I can update the site. Of course I'm guessing the site will be even more useless once the game is completely translated but I'd still like to finish it up someday. Thanks!
#17
This is very good news. Excited to see what you have in store for us!
#20
I remember it well. Of course I'm older than dirt.
#21
I've got huge amounts of savestates for this game but unfortunately none in Mednafen. Glad to see it's still being worked on!
#22
Soldier Blade for me. GOT is good but SB just gets played way more. One of my favorite TG16 games.
#23
Wondering if there's been any more progress on this lately?
#24
It is one of the better mahjong games for the system if that makes any difference to you.
#25
The main differences in the game (in academy mode) are that the first girl you compete against is slightly different and also in the "mild" version the girls don't end up completely topless.

Sorry can't help you with the other part because I've never been able to completely finish that mode either (without hacking at least).

Still waiting on someone who will translate my script dump of this game!  :-"
#27
Not selling mine but yeah, it's one of the trickier ones to find cheaply. It plays quite a bit differently than most of the other Nichibitsu mahjong games but other than the topless rock, paper, scissors parts and a very tiny bit of video there's not much to it. Hold out till you find it at a bargain price.
#28
Sticking with the car theme, Mequiar's Scratch X 2.0 also works superb on scratched discs.
#29
Yes! Been looking forward to the Anearth review for a while now and it couldn't have come at a better time. Here's hoping that the renewed interest in this game will lead to a translation soon which would make my guide unnecessary. Great review for a great game!

Quote from: EsperKnight on 01/21/2013, 05:43 PMTaking a look at all three.  Anearth I've almost dumped fully as I just need to mark out some of the script commands such as color and other things related to displaying the text.
Good news indeed!
#31
Out of curiosity, what character are you playing as?
#32
Glad to hear about the progress. The pictures I posted are from the "debug" version of Anearth. The caped crusaders and the 2 guys sitting at the PC in the pics are just a couple of examples of some goofiness added to the original game for some unknown reason.
#33
Having played through both versions now more times than a sane person should (would?) I'd say your points about The PCE version are pretty much spot on. The Saturn version does a couple of things different though I would say it's seems a bit easier rather than better balanced. Either way they're both fun.

I wish someone could tell me the whole story behind the demo version -

Who is TWI Soft? What were they planning on doing with this game in 1995?  It's fun to play around with as there are some very interesting screens -

Hope to hear the story on this someday.  :-k

16 Bit Power Stereo Screen Effect!

Don't know where the pic originally came from. I have hundreds of PC Engine related pics saved on a hard drive. Many of them are from online auctions and such. I just save any that look somewhat interesting to me. Like this one...

Well at least this thread brought Anearth some interest again. A couple of things I've noticed about it is that there is English text and alphabet in the game and not an extreme amount of text. There is also a the debug version of the game available which may or may not help out. If anyone does take it upon themselves to give it a go, I've played through it many times and would be willing to do whatever I could to help out.

Thanks for the input on the mahjong game (Mahjong Gakuen). I have ran the text through every online translator I could find and also Atlas machine translation which as you can guess gave very mixed results. I have screenshots of every "spoken" part in the game and even have them grouped together by each person speaking if that would help anyone. As for the mahong terms, I already have those done for the most part though I'm sure there are some in the other text as well. Hmmmm....just got another idea.... :-k

It seems very hard to me to find anyone to do the translation part. For example, the text file in my original post isn't very large (relatively) but since it's from a mahjong game, no one is interested. I posted it on Romhacking forums and asked anyone there to give me a price on translating it but not a single person responded. Luckily, I've got the menus, locations and mahjong terms translated and (half-assed) inserted so I'll just carry on from there for now.

SamIAm - I'm really looking forward to Xanadu II and appreciate the work you guys are putting into it. I promise not to pay you for it when it's complete.    Seriously though, I understand what you're saying about money mucking up things at times.

The Saturn version would be pretty cool since they're essentially the same game but it still doesn't interest me as much as the PCE version.
#39
It's been on a couple of peoples lists over the years. Nightwolve, you may even remember this, but many years ago there was a group of about 7 or 8 of us offering money for someone to translate it and I think the reward was up to something like $600. Of course at that time it wasn't really even considered to be possible. :)

Like I said, I'm sure no one would go out of their way to do it just for the money but consider it my preorder if they do.
#40
I know everyone already has a lot they are working on and that it's not about the money. However, since my last standing offer expired, I thought I'd renew it for the new year.

I will pay (via Paypal) $150.00 to anyone who successfully makes a playable, English translated version of Anearth Fantasy Stories for the PC Engine.

I will also pay someone $40.00 to translate the following text for me into English.

http://m1sz1.com/pics/finaldumpclean.txt

Contact me if interested in translating the text.

Happy new year to all and good luck on all your projects!

Offer expires November 1, 2013

I am currently wearing pj pants very similar to those in the video. Swear to Bonk, I just got them as a present yesterday. Great game and very funny video. Thanks for posting!
#43
Just wanted to say my thanks to everyone who had a role in finally getting this done. Starting a new play through today.
#44
This is good news. More please!

A Startling Odyssey 2 translated manual was being worked on by Tru but I haven't heard anything on it in a while.
#46
The translation of the manual itself came from the good ol' turbo list. It was done by someone named Hiroshi Kawai. I did the scan of the manual, cleaned it up and inserted the English text. Originally had plans to do many more manuals this way (see - http://m1sz1.com/manuals/pceman.html for early version) but as always with these types of projects, finding someone to actually do the translation seems impossible.

Glad to see Sparky taking the time to print this out. Put me down for one of these too.
#47
I've got all of the manuals from the old Dritz Manual Site saved here. Some are TG and others are PCE. About 80 in total. I put up a couple of them here -

http://m1sz1.com/manuals/mandown.html

Esteban, PM me if you want me to send them your way.
#48
Just need the text in the files above translated.
#49
It's no Aura Interactor but it's OK. I just had a great idea, I could USE BOTH AT ONCE! IMG

Good to be seen, esteban!  8-[

SamIAm - your current projects are much more interesting than this. Get back to work on them!  :D

I've got most of the mahjong terms, menus, options, and prefecture names done and inserted. The rest of the text is separated by screen in the file above. There's not a whole lot of "story" so I figure it won't take someone too long to translate the rest. Since this will only appeal to about 4 people on the entire planet, the translation doesn't have to be exact.
