No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

I got the idea to find out how much of my money I pour into my Turbo collection. So did some number crunching and resulted in finding that at least a grand has been spent.

Also found out a good chunk of it had to pay for Shipping/Handling fees on account that there's hardly any Turbo games where I live.

None the less, it was a real eye-opener and with a economy nearly on the rocks, I need to start tightening my wallet and rethink my approach to reaching my goals.

How much cash have you guys poured into your collections?

Turbo D

It's probably safe to say that I have spent a couple grand on video games in the past 2 years. haha!  8)

I have no idea, and I really don't care honestly.  Thinking about money thats long gone isn't going to help you in any way what so ever.  Also the economy is just the economy.  Life is far more important.  You could save money for years and then get hit by a bus.  Do what you enjoy when you can.

Well said, SuperDeadite. That's something that I can strongly abide to, as money doesn't hugely matter to me either.

So far, though, I've spent a total of $48 for adding games into the TurboGrafx-16 collection. If a purchase of Virtual Console games were to matter, also, that would add an additional $8 for Lords of Thunder, making another total of $56 overall.

It's probably in the $1500-$2000 range, but what the hell - it's only money.  Besides, I can't take it to the great beyond and I can always make more.

On gurbo stuff? Probably around a $1,300. I got lucky with that huge set of US stuff that started me off, and a couple of hundred for the Duo R. Then, it's been nickel and diming the PC-Engine stuff, two or three a month since.

What would "Gurbo" be :P? Is that an abbreviation for "Garbage TurboGrafx-16" stuff by any chance?

Since I started collecting, maybe $500-700 worth of turbo goods. About a third of that is my US Duo.

Ya, US Duos can be costly. I'm still kicking myself for not scoring one of those brand new boxed US duos that tzd was selling for $200 back in 2005. :x

after collecting/playing over a decade I have no idea...
tbh I'd hate to think how much I'd sunk into this hobby of mine~~ -___-;;

CrackTiger

I once bought someone's PC Engine collection for $1100. But that's just a small part of my overall collection and I could never figure out what I've spent in total.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Amen, when I die, I plan on spending time in the land of the big Turbo Zone.  While my kids enjoy the system and games I leave behind.

a tough question by golly :-k..

All of my rare tg16 hucards and systems like my duo i got in trading as i put up all of my non turbo stuff up for grabs at one time to get my TG16 wants ... i think the most i have ever spent on one hucard game was $20... but at the beginning (2004 i think) i was buying off of ebay mostly and as wisely as i could, honestly can say i have no idea what i a have spent and thats ok by me :)

I'll just say more then i thought i would collecting for it...given how some games are in the $100.00+ range.

Though right now i'm not buying any for it just taking a break and, buying games for my other consoles.

That's been my pattern with the pce as of late.Buy a few games for it in a short amount of time then don't buy any thing for it again in months.

At least the,TG16+CD Attachment didn't cost me a thing thanks to the trade deal i had with chop5

I cant really say what I have poured into mine, other then that I spent alot less then the actual worth of everything collection wise in my bedroom. Last time I checked, I think there was about $6000 worth of games and systems going by common going values. I only do checks like these every couple of months. Its moot though kinda, as I don't plan to sell anything, just more of a thing where I like to notice just how smart my shopping has been, and figure out what I plan to buy next and what kind of budget I can do it under.

lol. I imagine Homer Simpson's "Candy Land" dream, but instead of candy canes and chocolate we have HuCards and DuoPads and PC Engine houses. ahhhhh....heaven...

As for me, I think I've spent around $700 in the past 16 months, and that's probably quite conservative. I can't handle the truth.  8-[ hehe

Gurbo is the very special edition Turbografx model with exclusive cigarette burns. Sheesh. And you call yourself a collector

CrackTiger getting into a coma over spending roughly 1,000,000,000,000 Canadian dollars over the past 19 years or so? Nah, if he's tough enough not to get phased over trolling and pornography pictures (like was taken place at the TurboGrafx Network for a short time), then a huge amount of money spent shouldn't bother him at all.

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT .

I never would really call myself a "collector", as that, in my definition, would be much more extreme as they would try to collect every game they can, mint and complete perferably. I only am interested in getting the titles I like and do not mind what they consist of, as long as they work.

I knew "Gurbo" was just a misspelling of "Turbo" anyway, since the "G" key is close to the "T" just so you know. That's a silly way to respond to that joke if you were to ask me :P, since cigarrette burns are dangerous to have around anything flammable/that can melt since they can cause damage if split.

Off the top of my head, probably in the 7000$US range...

Most of this spent when the CDN dollar wasn't very strong... *gulp*

Granted, this was between the Duo's release in Canada to today.

Yeah, I'm glad I went wild this past year while the Loonie was soaring above the Greenback. It hurts when the dollar is below par.  :(

It's hard to put an exact figure, since a lot has come and gone during the 17 years or so of me buying/selling for the system.  I bought most of the stuff during the times when things were cheap (when TurboCD went on clearance, or when Duo was selling for $50 or so second-hand), or in Japan, so the amount I spent relative to some of the other folks here probably aren't t too bad at all.

Windancer

since 1992 I probably put 4000 to 5000 into the turbografx/ Turbo duo alone. that's good solid entertainment there! LOL
