If a unopened Magical Chase was to appear on ebay, does anyone know how much it could reasonably go for?  I'm looking for serious projections.

Are you going to sell the site and forum too?
Fail.

PCEngineFX

Again I'm looking for realistic projections, not questions on what I may or may not do.  Thanks guys.

Ebay gives all sorts of realistic projections, try completed auctions and go from there. Actual research there and elsewhere may take some time however, but if you want to do it right, you will have to do it that way. Currently past week or 2 there has not been a sealed Chase up for sale, so you may just have to list it and see what happens. Maybe the better question would be, how much do you think we would be willing to pay, or can pay for it right now???

PCEngineFX

I already did a search on ebay and as you noted it turned up nothing (I hate that they don't list auction history for more than a short time) that is why I was asking if anyone had any idea how much one has gone for in the past for a possible price point.  If I do decide to sell off anything I'm sure everyone will know about it.

CrackTiger

If the right buyer(/reseller) happens to find it while it's still up, I'd say $1500 - $2000. You could hold out for something/anything more, but I think that this is the range that it would actually sell for within a reasonable amount of time.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

I am sure people here would give you some sweet offers :D but in the land of ebay there are some serious sealed collectors out there and it could fetch a silly amount of cash... a reasonabe projection... i would say an easy $1000. I have seen a complete one go for $700 on the bay, but that was awhile ago and have no proof on that claim ... anyway just my 2 cents.

check out this forum... http://sealedgame.heavenforum.com/
these guys are rabid for sealed stuff!!

PCEngineFX

Thank you BT and Sparky for answering my question.  If I did sell the game, I'd have to unfortunatly sell it to the highest bidder (as the only reason why I would sell any of my collection would be for money).  This at least gives me an idea.

awack

I remember reading on another forum that a new magical chase sold for $800 back in 2006, but Mgaical chase has no doubt, gone up since the.

geddon_jt

About 2-3 years ago methinks, D-Lite sold a sealed one for $600. That was the last time I remember a sealed one selling.
The last complete copy I remember sold on ebay for $729.99 buy it now. That was maybe 9 months ago or so?
Tough to say what yours would fetch. I would guess between $800 to $1000. The game remains very scarce and in high demand. I'm not sure that there would be *that* much of a premium over a complete copy, however - probably not a huge glut of sealed TG collectors out there like in the NES / SNES world.

Nazi NecroPhile

I'd expect to see it land in the $1200-$1500 range, though if a few nutty collectors/resellers get involved, all bets are off.

The last Magical Chase (loose) sold for $300. If it anything like the last Sealed Chrono Trigger sold on Ebay, you can easily reap a handsome reward for it, easily into a grand. Alas, it's another reason why I keep hoping to find one in a second-rate discount store for $5. A man can dream right?

Well, I've never seen a new one, but here are a few benchmarks from my observations on ebay since May 2005.

The lowest I've seen U.S. Magical Chase go for was $175+/- with manual but no box in 06.
The most was around $1,000 with box in '05 or '06.

I haven't seen many with the box lately.  Loose cards have been closer to $300; cards with manuals have been closer to $500-$600.

In the inflated Buy It Now realm, complete PC Engine versions are around $160, up from $125 last year.  This doesn't mean much, but might indicate that general interest in the game is up (or the sellers are just bigger assholes).

A possible comparison might be Reg Frog's sealed copy of Dynastic Hero, which he seems to have sold for $800 outside of ebay.  Of course, MC is probably more valuable.
I'm a cunt, always was. Topic Adjourned.

I'd say 800$ to 1000$ for sure but it may be more if all the "big guns" of PCE collection happen to be at the right place at the right time and with a lot of cash to spend.
