Hello all,

Check this out, just received this from a friend in Japan this week...

This is a PC-FXGA programming book, I believe this is pretty rare in the west. I'm still chasing a PC-FXGA DOS/V kit, but that doesn't appear a lot on ebay/Yahoo japan, sadly...

The book contains details about the PC-FX compiler, libraries, samples games, guide to the Dogagenie 3D editor and two CDs which I think have been already released somewhere.

Dude! I think there is at least one person over at www.magicengine.com forums (go to the "software development" section) who is looking for this! You might be able to help him :)

As well, I'm very interested in the game Nnyu for the defunct 3D Adapter :)

What do you mean by that? Nnyu was meant  to be released as a full game the FX with the 3d adapter? Anymore information on this?

From what I've seen in the book it is just a simple demo, but I maybe wrong since I haven't played with it.

So I understand you are interested in getting the executable of the game to play on an FXGA?

Yes, it seems it was a proof of concept meant as the first game for the 3D Adapter -- which should have been released some time in late 1996, but I suppose it was already obsolete by then. From what I read on dedicated Japanese sites, it was coded by Tainyan who worked on various FX games like Akazukin and Lululi. To my knowledge, Nnyu is the only FXGA mook that got a real catalog number (GANHE001).

Hello,

You are absolutely right, I just checked both CDs in the book, one is indeed Nnyu, the other one contains sourcecode and artwork of the demos in the book.

I just listen to track 1 of Nnyu CD and the voice says PC-FXGA so it definitely won't work on a stock FX. But I'll try anyway to see if at least it comes up with some message, who knows.

Excellent, thanks for the pics :)

So Nnyu is labeled as a 3D action game. Interesting to see the potential of the HuC6273 chipset, which allegedly had about the same capabilities as a N64 (100.000 polygons per second).

Hello,

Check my blog, I published a new article tonight on Nnyu that might be of interest to you guys. It seems Nnyu is booting on a stock PC-FX!!!

That's really cool stuff. Now if only we could find out a way to actually play it and view everything.
