@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Got this in the mail today, need some help. I took it out of the package and immediately put it in my unmodded American TG-16. White screen.

Tried to hook it up to my Windows 98 PC to transfer files. Always says there is 0KB free. I'm powering it, the only thing I can think of is checking the settings...

ccovell

Okay, since you posted to the Tototek forums, too, I'd suggest searching for your answers there.  Check older posts on those forums, as there are lots of people with the same problems.  A quick hint for the 0KB free problem: it's a known bug in the shitty Tototek base software that doesn't reset (?) the parallel port after programming once.  So between programming sessions, you actually have to quit the program, put your computer in sleep (or hibernate) mode, and start it up again, connect the PCE-Pro, and start the software again.

Tupin

Okay, now it says there is 32MB free, but only for a second. "32 MB Free" flashes on screen for a second, then goes straight to "0 MB Free".

Any further help? I really want this to work.

Edit: It also doesn't recognize the size of the games on the loader until you try to load them at least once.

Tupin

Tried it on two PCs, neither work with it...

Arkhan Asylum

Maaaaaaan, I told you to get the NeoFlash!

:(

It sounds like some of what you are running into is: New Computer + Actual Parallel Port talking = no.

What age of machines are you running this on?

One machine is from 1999, running Windows 98 with an integrated Parallel Port. Easily switches to EPP mode via the BIOS. Gives me a 0MB error.

One machine is from 2005, running Windows XP with an integrated Parallel Port. Switches to EPP mode via the BIOS. Gives 0MB error.

Both are eMachines, but the whole "BIOS is limited on an eMachines" thing isn't a problem as I have a plethora of options on both PCs.

Tupin

The only other thing I could do is use uCon64, and I'm not sure how to get it up and running.

OldMan

You might want to check the parallel port settings in BIOS as well. Make sure it's at the standard address and irq, and not automatically assigned by bios.

Tupin

I had it set on IRQ7 and 273. EPP version 1.7.

How on earth did you manage to get a win98 install to last this long?  I used to have to re-install that crap every 6 months... the damn fat32 non-journaled crash-happy filesystem always ate itself to death in about that amount of time.  heh.

IRQ 7 is right for LPT1, but I/O should be 378. see it that helps.

Tupin

I thought it was just an option for 378... Guess I'll just leave that blank.

Tupin

Tried a new null modem cable, and I managed to transfer several games over. However, it still gives me a white screen. Do I need to add something else to the card to get the menu screen?

ccovell

So, you made sure you checked "US Region" on the programming software, since you use a TG-16?  (I think Turbo or Verify have to be off, too).  I never had this problem because I only have PC-Engines.

Tupin

I'll make sure everything is checked, as it programs the games, says it was a success, then when I click out of the program and start it again to make sure, it says there is 32MB full even though I put 20MB of games on it.

Tupin

Oh, and it only works in 1.4, not 1.5. 1.5 gives me an error.

Tupin

Got it working, just had to overwrite 1.4.  :D

It's nice to play something other than Keith Courage, even if it is via a flash cart.

Arkhan Asylum

nice nice!

:)

quirky, but working is always good.
