So, they've been busting ass fixing FFXIV and now I must say,


holy . shit.

The game has some balls now. They revamped nearly everything.  Its still free too!

There are a few instances, new monsters, crafting revamps, interface tweaks, ifirit battle soon...

But seriously, Final Fantasy is a great series. I just lost interest after number 7.

I put a lot of hours into the last huge patch, 1.18, and even with all the improvements it still sucked.  I'll be trying it again next week when 1.19 comes out, but only because it's free. This game has a lot going for it and I really hope It gets fun eventually. I dunno though...

Ok, but how far in were you BEFORE the improvements?  If you're level 25+, you kind of miss out a bit in this wave of improvements since you're already halfway done, lol.

The instances are great though, and the fact that Tuesday is going to rule, makes it even better.

I grabbed a FFXIV controller for 12$ on amazon.  It works on my PS3, I beat Deus Ex with it.  Its the best 12$ USB joystick ever.  The handles are longer, so its easier to hold!

Alot of the current updates are more "under the hood" mechanics.  Price fixes, NPC tweaks, crafting/recipe overhauls.  Little things you wouldn't really notice until you really dig in.


Once they torch Physical Level and go back to classic jobs, that's when shit will get real, and games like RIFT will panic.

I was about 18 before, and took that up to 20-something. After all the graphical shine wears off, the core of the game is still just tedious and boring to me. It's really frustrating because I can see the potential, but it's not quite there yet. . It's only been, what, like 6 months since the new producer took the helm? There's only so much he can accomplish in that time. I'm looking forward to the job level change though. If they keep on the same track, I'll keep coming back to give it a chance.

Their next overhaul after the patch Tuesday is to kill Physical Level and go back to Job Level Only, which kills Point Allotment so you just level up automatically.  Which, is awesome.


and Materia details are coming.  So far what they have announced for materia is awesome.

So far they've put enough back into the game that I would pay for it now

I beat FF XIII, and even though I didn't really enjoy it, I made it through the game in full for the first time since VII.

...that's enough Final Fantasy for me for another decade.  Maybe I will get back in once it is up to FFXX.

FFXXX is going to be awesome, I can't wait.

They better not screw up the obvious chance for an 18+ FF game.

The last FF game I really enjoyed was 7 also.  The rest have been hit/miss/bleh.

At least they're good at remaking 20 year old FF games!

I recently tried it after the latest patch i still think its a piece of crap it was at launch.  They developed it for 6 year and a year after it launched there just barely adding common final fantasy elements.  I will admit has it improved yes took them 9 months tho ><. There biggest mess at this point for me and one reason i still cant say it not a piece of crap is the marketing words still suck and take to long.  They even recently said final fantasy 14 hurt the final fantasy brand name.  I honestly can not look at this game without think this long to make and launch the game then this long after it was launched to add this.  I do honestly think after patch 1.19 tho people should give the game a try that never played it from launch and make the own informal opinion.  As for me i am just tainted with memories of the bad launch and how long it to them to do crap that should have been in the launched.  No matter what they do i will probably never like this game.

The only reason I still bother to give it a try from time to time is because they brought in a completely new team to fix it. At launch, most of the gameplay mechanics were either missing, broken, or just stupid. It was a mess. The new team has only been at the helm for six months, but they've been working hard at molding it into something that's more fun to play. They've also been adding content, but I think it's good that they're focusing most of their energy on the mechanics. The upcoming patch with the removal of separate levels (which might have been cool had they pulled it off right) is a good indication of this. The graphics and soundtrack were, and still are, awesome. I've got hope for it, but we'll see.
