12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

I honestly think that $10,000 will be too low and that it might take something more like $20,000 - $30,000. Which is not worth it to me.

The other thing to consider is that the person who owns that site and any other rumored owners of the game, may very well have traded it away years ago to the kind of private hoarder who doesn't wave around around proof of ownership on the internet. People like this one woman can continue to bask in the same level of glory without actually owning the game and no one will ever know the difference.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Arkhan Asylum

fuck that.  we should do a kickstarter and call it

GET PC COCORON OUT OF THE HANDS OF THAT BITCH IN JAPAN

Quote from: Jammaniaclord on 05/01/2012, 11:24 PMCorrect..... All i wanted was a copy. I wanted it because i wanted to play it and beat it, as well as tell the story of how i had one of the worlds rarest unreleased games, for the worlds most underappreciated gaming system. I wanted it to be something i could share with my close friends of the community as well. The owner is not stupid, and realizes her investment would depreciate under that umbrella, and i respect her diligence, regardless of how frustrating it is. There are several other ultra rare pc engine titles as well i would love to obtain an iso image of for my collection, but life has its priorities, and i am not richie rich throwing money at the ground for shits n giggles. I wish i were though, as you'd all be killing my bandwidth to get copies. Lol!

I would however settle for a detailed story of how she landed the prototype, and have it posted as a major article on this website, and any others. I think we have all wondered that scenario, and would be thankful for some insight on that.
Well before you start writing your autobiography you might want to learn that Yuki is very much not female.  Tats has even met him a few times in a bar.  Great guy.  In Japan "Not for sale" means NOT FOR SALE.  Yuki has helped me a few times stop annoying the guy, he's quite busy.

Fuck that shit.  He's got something that should be shared instead of horded.

What happens when he dies?  The thing gets auctioned off, thrown out? Taken to some thrift store?  Lost?

in Japan, NFS doesn't mean anything different than here.   Every hoe has their price.

what is he busy with really?  I doubt people trying to get his proto is that distracting.

I'm not going into cultural differences, but do you really think annoying the hell out of him is going to change his mind?
Stronger Than Your Average Deadite

Arkhan Asylum

I don't think cultural differences have anything to do with it.

Collectors/Greedy hoarders are their own culture.  If he's a big enough dick to sit on something that important and shaft an entire community worldwide, hes also a big enough dick to eventually cave in and sell it off for some obnoxious sum of money.

We are talking about a culture that still doesn't understand the idea of joint custody, it simply doesn't exist.  Marriage laws haven't been updated in over 200 years.  Even though the entire world is bitching at them they are just finally agreeing to look at the Hague Convention.  Also they bitch about the USA not signing the Kyoto Protocol, yet they are making the tuna go extinct.  This is getting too political, so I'm stopping here, but the point is "Not for Sale" actually means "Not for sale."
Stronger Than Your Average Deadite

Arkhan Asylum

I bet if you waved 5000000 yen in front of Yukinator, he'd be all about sellin that shit.

He will say he won't because he doesn't think anyone will ever do that.  He looks hardcore.

"THATS THE GUY THAT WONT SELL COCORON !!1234  HES SO KAWAIIIIIIIIIIOMG"

As much as I'd love to see it, chances are that it would just be a big letdown anyway (much like Space Fantasy Zone).

We should just take the screenshots, rip out the graphics and make our own version. Then sell it for a fortune.

Arkhan Asylum

Yeah, noone would really know the fuckin difference since its all unanimated screenies.

good idea.

Noone saw this idea.  It never happened.

In the future, if there are prototype-talks with a Japanese person, let me know and I'll help write and translate letters. Negotiations like these are too delicate to leave to machine-translators, methinks.

Been done many years ago.  I think Assembler offered at least $3,000?  I'd assume Thibaut offered even more.  This horse is dead.

This was the other one that i kept seeing once in a blue moon. I just did a google search and i found this site i have never seen before. Has any of you ever obtained a copy of this? I am shocked to see this site as recent as January 2010. I still need to pick up that berzerk homebrew, mysterious song as well. I have implode, and meteor blaster dx. Would be awesome to see some homebrew arcade card games take full advantage of that medium. If i were rich beyond imagination, i would hire chris covell full time, and let him choose his team of developers, and make killer new homebrew arcade card games for our awesome little white box. Did he ever give a release date for the cd version of Tonguemans Logic?

I think the money involved is borderline absurd. No companies that we'd like to support will receive any of that money and I wouldn't pay that much for a game, no matter how rare it is, because no game can be good enough to justify that cost : |
*boringface.jpg*

That said tho', of course I approve the hunt for unreleased gamese & prototypes, it's just, these things should be dealt with more causally. Not evolve into a competition of who's got the most money to throw around.

The biggest mistake being made here is everyone assumes this is all about money and bragging rights.  Believe it or not, somethings are more important to people then money.  Hell I was recently offered $2,000 for my Blazing Star AES, way more then double what I paid, but guess what?  I don't need the money, and I love the game, so I declined.  I could have accepted the money, bought another one eventually and still make a profit, but I simply don't want to do that.  Waving money around is not always the answer.

That comparison doesn't make any sense, the whole point is no one but the owner can play PC Cocoron, anyone can download a rom of Blazing Star and play it.

If Yuki wants to keep the game to himself that's fine it's his property it's up to him, just suprised he has if he has been offered that kind of money.

If your copy of Blazing Star was the only one in existence, would you accept a wad of cash in exchange for letting someone dump the data to share with the world and then return the cart to you?

There has to be a reason besides him just not feeling like it. Maybe he's opposed to emulation. Maybe he really does want money or bragging rights. Was he or someone close to him directly entrusted with the proto by the developer? Or has the offer to dump the game and return it to him alongside a handsome payment even been made so far?

You know how people break into the homes of celebrities and steal their home videos in hopes of hitting the home made porn jackpot. Well, perhaps a mission impossible style breaking in to this person's house with a laptop is the only way.

I did some yahoo.co.jp searches for PC cocoron and found several forum messages of people claiming to have played the game. Maybe it is time to track down one of the other owners.

What *is* it about then, since you apparently know all about the guy.

If they guy won't even bother dumping it, its clear that its at least NOT about the PC Engine community at large.

What if you were offered that money for a copy that you could make in less than five minutes and for less than $1?  The guy simply doesn't want others to have access to it in any form, and it matters not the reason why (bragging rights, to make his pee-pee harder, etc.)

Take this feeble attempt at research with a healthy coating of salt, not knowing much Japanese makes the matter difficult.

Here is a site of with what looks like direct feed screens from the game that are different from what is on that other site. Maybe it is by the same person, I do not know. But from what I can decipher of a google translation it seems he owns one of the prototype CD's or knows someone who does.

http://murakun5555.at.webry.info/201010/article_73.html

Here are some random old 2chan discussions where people seem to be claiming to own the game. These won't help much but perhaps it would not hurt for a native Japanese speaker to hit up 2chan and try to get a conversation going regarding the dumping of a ISO for fame, glory and cold hard cash. Whoever owns these things are hard core gamers so there is good chance they hang out on 2chan, or know someone who does.

http://mimizun.com/log/2ch/retro/1033571817/

Here is a site with an entry for the game with two users claiming to have it in their collection:

He's got it, and it appears to be a complete version of the game. It also seems to have been shipped to a magazine editor for reviewing since it has "please return" written on the disc. The guy doesn't even know for sure. He sounds like a collector who had no professional involvement with the game.

QuoteHere are some random old 2chan discussions where people seem to be claiming to own the game.
EDIT: Some talk like they've played the game. Nobody gives details and there are no follow-up questions. I dunno, this reads like a bad gamefaqs forum. I guess that's 2chan for you.

Anyway, I think there was a Sonic 1 prototype that surfaced in Australia years ago. The guy who had it said that he didn't want to incur the wrath of Sega and refused to sell, but I believe he also suggested that he'd like a five-figure sum when people were offering four.

The good news is that if it's a disc, there's a good chance the guy has it backed up. It's not like old flash memory that's vulnerable to bit-rot. He may have a change of heart and decide to release it yet. It also may take a few more decades.

That last link I gave with two people claiming for have cleared the game. One of them is that Yukie fellow. The other one calls himself murakun and seems to have a website.

Also, he seems to be pretty super hard core judging by the number of PC Engine games he claims to have cleared.

soop

Hmmm.  I think you guys are going about this the wrong way.  If the people who have Cocoron won't take money for a copy, they obviously don't value money above these kinds of possessions.

The answer is obvious; you just need to get a Super Grafx Power Console and trade it with him.

Then again it sounds like you guys already went through all of this a long time ago.
