12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

So i just purchased some games off a friend. One of those games was splatterhouse. But For some reason it doesnt work. I tried it on my turbo grafx 16 and i get a black screen. When i try it on my pc duo-r i get a pink screen. Anyway to fix this

Clean the contacts, or just try inserting it differently. I had a chip of Neutopia that only worked if I forced it to the left a bit when it was inserted.

Did you try cleaning it and then reinsert it? What version are we talking about? If its the tg16 version it won't work on your duo-r unless its modded or the other way around. They are some threads here that detail on what you can use to clean your hucard/hucard slot and what method is the safest and works the best.

my pc duo-r is modded. forgot to mention that. yeah i tried cleaning the game with an eraser. then i used some alcohol on the contacts, no dice. but if i bend it slighty up i get a 1 second flash of like a score at the top of the screen

You can try lightly sandpapering the contacts then cleaning them off with q-tips again. If you cant get the card working after that then its just dead, because the sandpapering will fix any connection/contact issues. Sometimes cards die, no one knows why. One of the great unsolved mysteries.

You could try putting something thin underneath the edge that has the contacts to try to push it up and maybe it will make better contact. It is *very* unlikely the card is just dead. While it could happen, the most likely cause of a card not working is a problem with the contacts. They are so tiny. If they get dirty or indented it may make poor contact in the HuCard slot. I suppose the better thing would be to clean the contacts and somehow coat them in a highly conductive substance to make contact at a higher point.

The idea being that the contacts have gotten depressed or scratched and they are not up high enough to touch the receiving pins in the HU slot. As suggested if you try to insert it slightly to the left or right of *normal* you might make better contact. The point at which it normally makes contact could be worn down a bit or dirty. NES and other carts often can have the same benefit from inserting them a bit off center.

I would bnot rub the contacts with sandpaper unless you can't get it to work under any other circumstances. You could damage the card beyond repair by sanding it.

When you use the sandpaper trick, you are using a very fine grit.  lol.  You wouldn't go using the roughest shit out there.  Steel wool will do the same thing.  As long as you aren't freaking scrubbing the shit outta it, and just giving it a light rub it won't hurt it.  HuCARDS may not die often...but they do die for unknown reasons sometimes.  I normally use the pink eraser and alcohol trick, and that usually does it for me.

I've also heard once, that if nothing else works, a liquid nitrogen bath could do wonders. never tried it tho.

This works. I have done it multiple times.

After a brief LN2 bath, raise HuCard at waist level (no higher!) and release. HuCard will gently float to ground.
