@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

I'm playing thru the cinemas of Golden Axe, & noticed that the cheering in Valis 3, the cinema for the last level I believe(when they arrive & Yuko says "And this USED to be a peaceful place?")they used that also in Golden Axe's cinemas for the chick, it was very distinct!  I always thought the cheering in Valis 3 was odd, since, it should've sounded more like screeming in terror.  Anyways, just thought I'd share that with everybody. =D>

hmm, that is interesting.

the only voice recycle i'm aware of in a game is the re-use of the imp's laugh from house of the dead 2 in phantasy star online.

Tatsujin

i think they also recycled some samples from the MD shadow dancer in bare knuckle, if i remember right.

Its a standard sound effect/sample that I've heard in many TV shows and cartoons. The "yahoo!" is the giveawy.

Same with the crow effects in Dracula X along with a bunch of others I can't remember right now.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

ParanoiaDragon

I usually can point out standard samples used in stuff.  Pretty much every scream in Beyond Shadowgate, I've heard on tv.  But that yahoo, I can only recall hearing in Valis 3 waaay in background.  Either way, I always thought it was out of place, & should've sounded, not like they were having a good time, but, were at war as suggested in the game

Companies often reuse their own sound effects. Check out Actraiser and Illusion Of Gaia on the SNES, both by Enix (before it was bought out by Squaresoft)...there are at least 10 samples common to both games. Actraiser II also had a few commons as well.

well, that doesn't explain how Golden Axe, by Sega, got sound effects from Valis, by Telenet.

The PC Engine version with the exclusive cinemas that the audio is from was made by Telenet(hence the crap quality of the actual game).

If Sega had done a PC Engine CD port, it'd probably have been the ultimate version.

I've considered ripping the cinemas and soundtracks from the original crap PCE version and putting together a new version of the game that uses better sprites and obviously much better coding. I just don't have the time. ](*,) :(

Had no idea.

Actually, I think the ultimate version would have been a 32XCD.

That was something I dreamed of back in the day. Even if it was a simple port of the Genesis version with static bg's it'd be awesome.

Golden Axe was the first CD game I ever saw and convinced me to save up for a Turbo CD.

I'd still take a decent PCE port with all of Telenet's CD features over an arcade perfect 32X port.

Same here.  Maybe someday we'll do it.  But we have alot of other stuff in store that we need to finish.

Ah yes, reused sound effects I'll name several that I know:

> In Son Son II (PCE), the sound effect that alerts you when you're low on life came straight out of Megaman/Rockman 1-3. It's the same sound heard while flipping the cursor through your weapons menu.

> The pause tone in Final Fight Sega CD is also in Cannon Spike for Dreamcast

CrackTiger

Game companies recyle a lot of sfx in their games for the same console. But multi platform spanning sfx like Ninja Spirit mentioned are very cool. It's kinda like Capcom's classic power up's that keep reappearing in different games.

Oh yeah anyone have any idea what this is? Out of all the capcom games I've been playing for years where I see this in them, I always thought it looked like a decapitated chibi-Ryu

I've never, ever managed to find a yashichi in any game. i remember seeing it in the original Mega Man manual, and looking everywhere for it...

It's at the end of the game before you fight Wily.

The Yashichi is omnipresent, it's been in tons of capcom classics particularly up to the mid 90's. In fact, you can read about it at Wikipedia which where I hotlinked that gif from.

It's a side view of a Side Arms guy. Usually the Side Arms power up is from a 3/4 view.

Don't forget all those barrels, stars and strawberries.  :D

By the way, I've finished up Override yesterday and that game always reminded me Psycho Chaser. And then, the end credits sort of confirmed it, most of the staff on both games is actually the same. This is interesting, especially when one was released by Naxat Soft, and the other Data East.

Found another gold mine of recycled sfx, it's especially interesting to anyone plays Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike alot.

The sounds that Urien makes when he does his standard pile driver move date all the way back to 1989. They were used in "Dynasty Wars/Tenchi wo Kurau" when you charge up your attack.
