Your intro to RPGs sounds exactly like my experence... the original Dragon Warrior started it all. 2/3/4 followed suit on the NES for me as well. And though I did love the american FF 1/2/3 for the NES/SNES, I really wished that Dragon Quest 5 and 6 had been brought over here for the SNES.

So... when is the Turbo/PCE exclusive video coming out?

Dunno why Tats. I remember getting an email some time back saying I could upload videos in more length now, but I do not know why actually.... I honestly did not realize my video was sooo long, until after the fact. It seemed like just a few moments.

Same with me, I just got an email message that said I could upload videos of whatever length I wanted. They just have to be under 2gb.

hmm I was wondering this myself, as I always thought there was a ten minute limit.

All YouTube users can upload videos up to 15 minutes each in duration. Users who have a good track record of complying with the site's Community Guidelines may be offered the ability to upload videos up to 12 hours in length, which requires verifying the account, normally through a mobile phone.

It was pretty good for a first video, Bernie. Personally, I've found that I have difficultly in preventing the awkward pauses with the 'uh' before coming up with the next thing to say. To really prevent that and have a good flow from one thought to the next, I'll almost have to resort to index cards or writing out everything before hand... Wasn't as easy as I thought before trying myself. Yet, that doesn't happen to me in normal conversation with someone, but it does when trying to record a video and just talk about/explain what I'm doing, etc. I would've had some more videos up already if not for this kind of issue. I wanna "wing it" to just get it done, but then I don't much like the result so I trash it, and catch-22, I'm always feeling too lazy to write everything out beforehand so then I just procrastinate more...

Yeah, I pointed it out on the video, but that's also how I got started with RPGs, via Dragon Warrior. I really like how each sequel improved in colors/graphics and with an even longer story/adventure, etc. All four were solid RPGs for the 8-bit era.

Yeah, you'll find that time goes by fast when recording a video like this. Since I'm lazy, my average viewing time for most videos on Youtube is 10 minutes maximum, actually. I made an exception in your case and watched the whole thing since I know you and became interested by your experiences.

It sounds totally stupid, but I have heard that some people do things like place large stuffed animals by their cameras so they feel like they are talking to something other then the camera itself, so they can feel more relaxed and less awkward.

Heh-heh. Ah, so an opposite take of that common tip, "Just imagine that everybody in the audience is naked!" that supposedly helps you with public speaking in front of a crowd! So you have your "tip" pointed at the camera, and that pretty much solves this sort of problem for ya ?? ;)

Never heard that one. Heh. Yeah, it's odd; I thought it was kinda easy before trying myself, but it does take some training I found so I can really respect someone now that can cut a decent video, speak in complete thoughts, that is, manage a decent flow throughout it, etc. For some reason, my brain sort of forces me to feel like I actually am in front of an audience when I do it, and that sort of feeling then causes you to choke out at times, plus not rehearsing enough. You can't do it Clint Eastwood style, just show up and try to completely wing it! ;) Some people have the ability, the rest gotta practice their ass off.

BERNIE! I'll be honest, I didn't watch the entire video (I still have 12 pages of threads to catch-up on), but I did skip around and listened to a few of the games you discussed. I like your pacing (relaxed, not rushed, not too slow) and the points you make (solid, to-the-point).

NOT THAT YOU ASKED FOR UNSOLICITED COMMENTS: I'd say that you could easily have more fun creating videos (and increase the interest for viewers) by breaking longer stretches into shorter segments and switching the setting and/or composition (camera angle, subject, etc). This way, you don't have to worry about editing (you are recording in sequence), but it offers a chance to experiment and have fun with video.

Of course, having a remote for your camera (and covertly pressing pause) is key for this to work as a one-man-operation). OK, I'll stop.

BOTTOM LINE: I'll go back and watch the entire thing after I watch Cosmic Fantasy OVA.
