This thread is made specifically for the purpose of allowing us to talk about and discuss our internet grudges. Who do you hate? Why do you hate them? Please tell us so we can make fun of you for being an oversensitive pussy. :P

I'll start off...

I hate the GameFAQs community. They're all a bunch of assholes. I actually got banned from there not because I did anything horribly out-of-bounds, but simply because I posted some threads that the community didn't like, like that one thread about how some of the flash games on the Cartoon Network seemed to be designed to look like 16-bit system graphics. How DARE a 13-year-old kid say something so cruel and hateful! Of course, it was perfectly fine for THEM to joke about gouging my eyes out, and to post a whole thread about the repercussions of masturbating to Eva from MGS3. Now THAT is perfectly mature and appropriate. ](*,)

I thought it was universally accepted that the majority of the gamefaqs community was functionally retarded.

with that said, a good chunk of the NA and digitpress community have struck me as crazy people, though i haven't spent much time there.

Arkhan Asylum

I hate EA for ruining Ultima

fuck those fuckers
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

tggodfrey

HHMMNN its hard to come up with people or things I hate......I just dont like to take the time for hating anything.

I guess if I had to pick something.....I hate the type of person that just pisses and moans and complains and/or runs around the site creating shit storms.  There are a few people like that.  If your that unhappy with your own life.....go commit suicide and make the world a better place.

A also hate people who see video games as an investment.

when i worked at a local game store, the store manager was one of those.
drove everyone nuts, he'd buy anything rare or valuable that came in, and then "seal" it to protect it, and just not play anything.
he'd just play new games on ps3 or whatever, he hardly touched his SNES or anything.

I've tried to re-write this in a way that doesn't make me sounds like I'm whiny and entitled, but it's simply not possible. Probably because I'm whiny and entitled.

I think I have a grudge against Capcom. I don't like what they do with the things they have that I like. My main beef isn't with the cancelling of stuff (shit son, get him off da moon already!) but rather how they shitty they are starting to look like as a company. It's the attitude that gets me the most. Stupid decisions are stupid decisions, and Capcom have made their fair share of those but those can, to a certain extend, be forgiven. It's the arrogance, the unashamed acts of moneygrabbing and just general lack of tactfulness that makes me angry.

...yes, this probably is about MML3, MHP3rd and some other things I've momentarily forgotten but I'm still angry and entitled about. To be honest, I'm not really that angry about MML3 anymore, I just like to bring it up because it could have been handled so, so much better. Something should've been left behind as a way of saying "you had some cool stuff going on there guys but it just didn't work out, we're sorry. Better luck next time" instead of going "we didn't greenlit this shit and you guys weren't devoted anyway so there". I'm this worked up and I wasn't even in the dev rooms. I don't even have a 3DS!

Sheesh!

And here I thought public relations were important to a successful business but clearly, I must be wrong.

You actually got banned from a place like GameFAQs ??? Have things changed in terms of moderation since, I dunno, my Felghana patch was leaked there back in '07 ?? That they're utter, complete assholes even on a criminal level is an understatement... One word always fits: Disgusting!

Anyway, my first grudge actually goes to tggodfrey who I suspect is referring to me as well in a pussified, in-direct manner. Since early this year after returning to this forum, I was enjoying myself quite a bit here, interesting things were happening, met BurntLasagna, thesteve, learned about cap replacement and successfully recapped my TurboExpress thanks to the info here, etc. but anyhow, tggodfrey's comments in the TurboFest thread led to my first flaming and loss of enthusiasm somewhat for this place (you can't get along with everyone obviously, it's gonna happen)...

So, I was mulling over the idea of attending the TurboFest event, I thought it cool/interesting that you guys have meetups like that, but I decided against it in the end. However, Keranu mentioned that his car was broken down due to failed brakes and that's why he couldn't attend, and I thought, hey, I had been working on cars last couple of years with a freelance mechanic, why not offer to help ? I could get to meet a fellow Chicagoan, someone I've seen around NEC related forums (even my own) going back 10 years, etc. and if not be willing/able or interested to fix the whole problem on the spot, at the very least save him on a tow truck cost with a patch method and get him to a professional shop. What I didn't know was that there was a professional mechanic in the thread who was gonna shoot my offer down without caring to first even ask me a single question, then just walk away. I guess I should've PM'ed the offer, but I didn't expect all that. He did the same thing a 2nd time in The Brothers Duomazov thread, dropped a comment directly/overtly this time to me, walked away, fighting ensued, and I've been left thinking, why oh why am I still unwilling to resort to using the ignore feature for someone I just don't care for. After I visited the pceforums chatroom, he happened to be there and had a "Heya asswolf" greeting for me and tried to get others to ignore me on his behalf, as if he's that popular that somebody would bother to do that... Pffft.

Next up is RegalSin, but knowing he got the boot for a while, not seeing him around has allowed a nice breather. He really pissed me off to where I was PM'ing him tons of expletives after he was coming to the defense of Xray and attacking me/Professor in that uncensored thread I restored, etc.! I told him if he cares about him so much, he should fuck the hell off and head on over to chimpout.com and FUCKING STAY THERE with Xray! His response was to tell me that PCEFX isn't big enough for the both of us, that it's HIS domain, and that I should be the one to leave and head on over to an Ys forum! Heh-heh! The pedofiend and I also got into a political exchange similar with ragtime where he equated the Nazis to the US, etc. Suffice to say, I went from finding his bizarre posts interesting/amusing like Keranu, to realizing he probably really is a pedophile and I don't much like the guy's politics either, as well as the fact that he tried his damnedest to defend Xray and neutralize any outrage that anyone should've felt at such a guy! His compass ranges from amoral to immoral, to put it one way, etc.

I have been irritated by a few other people, an incident with tggodfrey, but they're not grudges at this point. So yeah, that's mostly if we're limiting this to PCEFX. With Xray, we handed him his ass, he was checkmated every which way Sunday, and he went packing for the most part, so there was closure there. I mostly just feel pity and embarrassment for such a man, nothing that would come close to a grudge.

However, the latest douchebag extraordinaire is this DarkKobold, a menacing malcontent who's maintaining an account here to bully, harass, heckle Gouging/Pricing type threads then complain it was NecroPhile and vestcunt bullying him when he first instigated an incident with CrackTiger, a rant where he explodes and calls him, by implication, arrogant, insane, illogical, an incoherent rambling rambler, etc. I realize election season is upon us, but this hack probably usually shoehorns his hatred of Fox News and the republican party in COMPLETELY unrelated gaming posts regardless! He played that card too, "Hey, you guys are like Fox News when it comes to your 'facts!! Hahaha!" Him, Xray, etc., I would've just wiped him out by now if this was my board... Sometimes it's just a matter of taking out the trash, just sending them elsewhere rather than having to forcibly deal with them, take abuse, give it back, etc.

Anyhow Arjak, you're well aware of my Ys project related grudges and various warez malcontents, psychos, fan credo ideologues, etc., so I doubt you want pages of that stuff here. ;)

Life's too short for grudges. Especially on internet message boards. I like it here; I like the people. I don't always agree with them, but it's a good place. Why bother getting into virtual pissing matches? Plus, for example, I learned recently that if you fuck with a guy like NightWolve, he'll wear you the fuck out until you cry "UNCLE!" ;)

Except for RegalSin. Fuck that guy.

Quarter Munching tactics (arcade shooters) vs Balanced Gameplay (good console shooters) is probably as simple as I can state it. The "best" arcade shooters seem to be average to below average (for me at least) compared to the "best" console shooters in terms of gameplay. I think I'm at the point I'm not even interested in buying anymore "classic arcade shooters" since I am disappointed about everytime I do.

Uh, yeah? That's why I called it a grudge in a Grudge thread... You're downgrading it for me to something that "sounds like a grudge??" Heh.

QuotePast my comment and thought I didnt give it anymore thought and forgot about it.
Yeah, no shock there.

QuoteIts obvious you didnt but I stand by what I said.
A simple question, "Hey, you do know that compression unions are at best a temporary measure? The automotive industry banned them... You're supposed to use a double flaring tool if you're not gonna change out the whole pipe, etc." didn't strike me as unreasonable BEFORE making a final conclusion declaring me unqualified, by implication dangerous and protecting licensed mechanics. Your own industry used to send cars back out on the road like that... It's not something I thought up myself. You used whatever was in my post to shoot down my offer, embarrass me without caring to even ask a single question first to have allowed any elaboration or clarifying that yeah, if I did use a union like that, it'd just be to save him on tow truck costs so he could drive it to a shop, etc. But anyway, fuck it, you're as thoughtless and as thorough-less as they come. This won't even be read.

EDIT: Looks like you just edited your nasty shit in, I dunno if it was a result of after seeing this, but I'll add it in.

QuoteThe Chat comment was just a sarciatic hello type jab.
It was lame, regardless.

QuoteI guess from now on i will not adress you just in case I hurt your feeling in otherwords I am calling you an oversensitive fucking pussy with sand between your lips.
There we are, so now the Fighting Street Spirit emerges in a post-edit. Heh. Look, I don't care for you, I just don't. I thought I should've just responded with a formal "Fuck off!" in the chatroom, but I wasn't gonna let you ruin my time there either, so I just ignored you. There was a far better way to have handled your response about me to Keranu in shooting my offer down. But yeah, you made your first impression, and now this. So you've made it official and clear, you're a thoughtless, thorough-less dick.

Grudge......Ah I see I miss read the first statement.

I read replies dont you worry, I try to follow up.  I am also aware of the shit tactics the aumotive industry did which is why concepts like that piss me off to no end.  I deal with people like you everyday on the automotive boards who simply just want to slap it together and claim they know what they are doing and then it ends up on my plate (or someone like me) having to fix it.  Your right, I have no reason to get irritated by halfass repairs.  As far as embarrasment......thats an issue you need to work on yourself.  Suggesting a halfass repair.....you should be embarrased as well as anyone else who does shit like that.  Just responding with the repair of a union and saying no more gives the end user the idea that is an acceptable repair, you need to be more specific.  It would be no different if I told someone to go to radio shack and pick up solder to put a set of Caps in.  Someone better correct my ass becuase you know very well that person is going to buy the cheapest solder they see and god only knows what other issues will come out of that.  Trust me....the 4 cylinder community makes the union idea look like a gem.  You would never believe the half assed crap they do.

My work speaks for itself.  You can feel free to see just what I do at the World of wheels in Rosemont IL if you like.  One of my cars are usually there.  I treat every car I work on like its my own.

Either way like me or not, it doesnt really matter but your grudge I find rediculous especially since you avoided an awesome event over 1 person.  Your not the first to complain I am mean/asshole/jagoff ect and you wont be the last.

People like me? Fuck you, asshole! More of your laziness in reading once again. I just told you that if I had done such a repair on the street wherever his car was located/broken, it would've been with the instructions to drive it to a shop for a full line replacement, that I'd only be helping him save on tow truck costs, you fucking moron! Or as I had mentioned elsewhere (not here), I would've made a deal with him to have driven the car to my house to drop it off for a couple of days to do the full line replacement myself.

Compression unions cannot handle a panic emergency stop situation!!! If you have to slam the brakes, they WILL pop! I know all this!

QuoteJust responding with the repair of a union and saying no more gives the end user the idea that is an acceptable repair, you need to be more specific.
As I fucking said, you COULD HAVE directed a question to me or comment BEFORE making it clear to him not to take me up on my offer!

QuoteIt would be no different if I told someone to go to radio shack and pick up solder to put a set of Caps in.  Someone better correct my ass becuase you know very well that person is going to buy the cheapest solder they see and god only knows what other issues will come out of that.
The analogy is not applicable. Further details would've been discussed with Keranu depending on the situation had he taking me up on the offer.

QuoteTrust me....the 4 cylinder community makes the union idea look like a gem.  You would never believe the half assed crap they do.
Then they're fucking dangerous and stupid. Compression unions were made illegal in some states and are only allowed in limited use situations. Double flaring tools are cheap now and easily available if you're not gonna replace the whole fucking line.

Using compression unions is for a quicki, like if a buddy is broken down in a parking lot and you wanna bail them out, saving them on tow truck costs, etc... It's completely a temporary measure!

QuoteMy work speaks for itself.  You can feel free to see just what I do at the World of wheels in Rosemont IL if you like.  One of my cars are usually there.  I treat every car I work on like its my own.
You're a licensed mechanic in a shop in this context, your work damn well better speak for itself! You get to have the vehicle FULLY lifted with hydraulics and you've got some parts available at hand, you shouldn't even consider really using a flaring tool to replace a bad section, the whole pipe should always be replaced in such a situation! And you're prepared if rusted gas lines are about to break apart and you're stuck having to do that as well!

My issue is did he need the car back in a timely manner as well... If so, then I would do a quicki fix mentioned and send him to a shop. But if he was willing to let me take the car for a couple of days, give him a far better deal than he could get at a shop, then we could do business. If it was a caliper, the piston having popped out of the cylinder in a rear drum, etc. all that I could fix on the spot in a few hours after getting there, etc.!

Quoteespecially since you avoided an awesome event over 1 person.
I didn't avoid the event because of you, moron! Now you're going off into wild assumptions/interpretations! Ultimately, it was for personal reasons and NOTHING to do with you. Permanently giving up anonymity sort of issues was part of it.

All my work is done on jack stands.  Thats fabrication, restoration, and maintenace.  I left the commercial shop 10 years ago and run my own business on the side.  Now everything I do is by choice and yes the business is licensed with the state of Illinois.  Now your the one assuming jackwagon.  The only materials I stock are very limited due to taxes.  I dont have much on hand as you also assume.  I do happen to have far more experience, tools and capabilities than you, that is true and it does give me an unfair advantage.

When you had made your original comments way back, you talked about a shop and a car that had come in that needed a full line replacement, etc. That's where indirectly it was revealed that you were a mechanic. In assuming you were still at a shop, the rest was applicable, hydraulics, some materials at hand, etc. You correct me because you're no longer in a shop as if that significantly changes my point all that much! WOW, how devastating! It doesn't! Since this was your chosen, full-time profession, given your experience, formal training likely for licensing, your work damn well better speak for itself! That point still stands! And trying to say that I assume you stock some materials at hand when I still believed you were at a shop is trying to play that point for all that it's worth... It was enough to tell me that you no longer work at a shop, and once again, that wasn't an assumption I manufactured out of whole cloth, that was a revelation by you in the original post!

These situations, you'd have to work on possibly a busy parking lot or a public street with passing cars, and you gotta jack it up on a curved surface (assuming it's parked on a residential public street) and you're pressed for time, THAT WAS THE FUCKING OVERALL POINT! You're not in the comfort of a shop or a garage either. Of course the shop helps get it done a lot faster and that's definitely something a freelance mechanic cannot provide.

Asshole licensed mechanics have sent my car home with dangerous, looming issues and never bothered to say a damn thing to me, this is with bringing it in for a routine oil change or even something more serious and asking them to let me know if something else needs to be addressed, etc.! Only when it'd break down did I have to learn the hard way what was going on with it! Then they were right there, ready and willing to give me the great gouging deals that they're known for!

Anyhow, everything else still stands, you're a prejudicial asshole (the "I deal with people like you everyday!" as IF I STILL HAVEN'T FUCKING EVER EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS A TEMPORARY FIX ALL THIS TIME) with either reading comprehension problems or just downright laziness! If I had done a quicki fix with a union like that and restored the brake pressure after bleeding the lines, the next step either would've been to send him to a shop or make a deal with him myself to drop it off at my house where I could more comfortably work on it, have all my tools available, and a nearest Autozone a few blocks away for parts, etc. That's if I wanted the job and it wasn't a complete disaster underneath his car!

QuoteYou really are a fun little lollipop dipped in a triple coating of Psycho.....arent you asswolf
Look at me, look at me, I called him "asswolf" again - hehehehe, it's so clever, so witty!!! I'm so funny!

Fucking dick, and FYI, anger is not an equivalency to "psychosis" or "psycho", anger which is sure as hell warranted at this point! I must say now though, I called it correctly in how I responded to your original post. If you weren't the kind of mechanic that I thought you were, with the certain attitude problem that I'm familiar with, I wouldn't have made such a long post talking about your industry and so forth, etc. People naturally and objectively must've felt that my response to you was so wildly disproportionate given the length, but I stand by it more now than before!

tggodfrey

I dont doubt this at all.  There are a lot of messed up shops out there and I have seen them do it.  Firestone in Countryside (gone I think) was notorious for spraying shocks with penetrating oil to make them look like they were leaking and putting brake grindings in your trans pan to try and sell you a trans.  I never saw someone get fucked but there is no way they werent getting away with it.  Unfortunately this makes all of us look bad.

Although i understand your point here and I dont feel your wrong, the delimma your not considering is afterwards he does not have tio listen to you, he does not have to follow your advice.  Your work is now on that car and you can be held liable whether he gets it fixed or not.  He gets into an accident and kills someone, beleive it or not you can be held liable.  In todays world it sucks but its a reality.  Your upset because I took only what you posted and made a statement that embarassed you in front of your peers.  You feel i should get clarification from you becuase your solution on the surface was lacking information or didnt get your whole point across. To me that seems like bullshit excuse to be pissed.  Its not mine or anyone elses responsability to ask you to clarify what you say.  If I walk around rambling like Regalsin its not your responsability to try and understand me or your fault you think I am a bipolar wackjob.  Frankly I dont see why you never said anything if you were that bent about it.

You make the point a union is not a good fix in the event of an emergency stop, but then why would you take the risk of even a temp fix so he can get the car to a shop.  All you saving is a 100.00 tow or a call to triple A.  Granted I see things a little more on the legal side where your just looking at it as trying to help someone out.  Hereis an example of something i delt with that formed this opinion.  Several years back I used to manufacture by hand Fuel rails for the 420A Eclipse motors becuase there werent any made at the time.  I enjoyed them and made them in a limited quantity becuase they were such a pain.  I sold to mostly people I knew but there was oen guy I didnt know well but thought I trusted him and sold him one too.  Now when i made them, I would pressure test everyoen to 150PSI and that is becuase with a rising rate FMU regulator the fuel system would see pressures at 117psi with a particular pump.  This guy claimed the car cuaght fire and it was my fault and he was going to sue me blind.  I worried a lot and couldnt understand why someone i helped a great deal on a forum would be like this.  I went to my lawyer right away and gave him all the info and explained the testing to prove I wasnt negligent.  I then waited.  The guy never posted pictures on the forums about this fire ect but claimed his lawyer was suing me.  He wanted me to pay for his car.  Long story short the law suit never came through and i might have gotten lucky or he was full of shit.  The moral of the story is I learned you cant totally trust a friend no matter how much you want to.  Your heart may have been in the right place to try and save him a few dollars but the method you wanted to use was very risky.  If you dont see it that way then i dont know how else to explain it.

If you dont care then i appologize for wasting your time with reading this.  You feel hurt, embarassed for what I said, ok then, I am sorry, (in this situation) my goal is not to humiliate or belittle you.  I hate it when other people do it and I am sorry you felt that way.  At the same time to get this bent out of shape over it.....Dude, grow a pair.  You can just as easiliy sent me a nasty gram and speak your mind as well.  I never gave it any thought becuase frankly my point was made how bad an idea I thought it was and that people should not trust anyone just throwing suggestions out on a forum.  I think you would agree with some of that. If you want to hold a grudge, well not much I can do about that.

My comment in chat was just fucking with you.  You took it seriously, ok then, point made.

tggodfrey, you're a fucking douchebag. From what I could STAND reading of this argument, it sounds like Nightwolve offered to help someone in need with a quick patch job on his car, which was only meant to get him to an auto shop for a permanent fix, and you, being a mechanic who misunderstood, went into DEFCON 4 over this, deliberately sabotaged the meeting out of fear, and when Nightwolve was for good reason a little miffed, you decided, "This guy is wrong on the internet! I must DESTROY HIM!" Grow up.

Nightwolve, I like you, I respect your work, but don't pretend that you haven't done some douchy things yourself. You have bashed a whole community for the actions of a few. I am of course referring to the leaking of your Felghana patch. I know that what that guy did was wrong, but if you're going to hold this against the whole community, you are being a bigot. If you think that people are going to hold back from the idea of getting something they want for free, right now, you obviously don't know much about people. Yes, they shouldn't download something that was stolen, but I think you're holding people to too high a standard. This IS the internet, after all. Downloading stuff illegally is what it's all about. :P

Second, I still have no understanding of what made you freak out at romhacking.net. I've heard that you've made it so that every link from that site to yours is redirected to a porn site. Correct me if this is false information, but if it IS true, that's about as juvenile as the people at GameFAQs. Unless you can explain in rational terms your logical viewpoint for hating a site that makes game hacking painlessly simple, I will not be able to pronounce you innocent on that charge. I actually was inspired by YOU to create this thread. My main wish was to learn the reason why you don't hate just the people who've wronged you, but those who appear to be, at least on the surface, not connected at all.

Does it have to be "Internet"?
For instance, I hate GameStop employees. Bunch of 17 year old hardoos that say they "work in the industry". Now I know I am generalizing, but it's truly the only experience I have ever had with them.
Wake up call, PS2 is not "vintage". Just because you were 4 when it came out and you can't understand that video games were around long before call of duty was released.
Dont try and give me advice, don't try to school me that Bioshock Infinate is a reboot of the franchise (true story), and don't tell me I will be SOL if I don't pre-order the next big thing.
Finally, I get furious when I want to buy a game, NEW, but they have pulled it out so they can display the box. Absolute bullshit practice.

That's true, but this was a one off, random kind of thing for a forum member, an opportunity to meet someone I've known going back 10 years, etc. And as long as he drove the speed limit, paid a little extra more attention than usual (limit tailgating), and didn't go use the car as a speed racer, he could've shopped around in his neighborhood for the best deal no problem. That would've been part of the instructions if I didn't take the whole job, etc. With the tow truck, he's gotta know where he wants to send it or take the advice of the driver, and he's gonna be stuck with whatever price they give him there. He's not gonna be willing to pay for another tow to send it to a shop that might give him a better price, and the mechanics know this so price quoted will factor into this... That's assuming if he doesn't have a usual shop that he trusts - I know I don't...

One quick point, neither myself nor the freelance mechanic I worked with for a couple of years ever sent a car off with those types of unions. I only used them once on *my* car personally for a bit till I was ready to do the full line replacement. I thought about buying the expensive copper/nickel/steel alloy lines that don't rust like they use in Europe by default and are now for sale here, but I decided I could do something both better and cheaper: still use traditional all-steel lines but also buy vinyl tubing to insert them into and achieve the same kind of rust protection and that's eventually what I did. Plus, when little rocks are flung up and hit the pipes, they hit soft vinyl, so no scratching or nicking of the paint/metal. Also did that for the return copper gas line, the main line I went with nylon, etc. Worked out perfect!

I wound up even changing my gas tank given the rusted disaster that everything was in, something that I had NO idea about until the day that I had popped my line having slammed the brakes cause some woman stopped abruptly in front of me for a turn, though I'm probably more to blame for not having paid attention at that moment. I got home driving slowly and by using the parking brake to stop. Risky, but I made it. Anyhow, point is, I couldn't believe how badly the lines/pipes were rusted/corroded and that nobody had ever told me anything about it. Same car had a transmission and calipers replaced for $1300+ at a shop 5 years back or so and I still did regular oil changes, belt changes, water pump got changed down the road as well, etc. I would think I would've been informed of something looming like that with all those visits... Just too busy I suppose and only deal with the problem at hand that you try to explain to them, but a lot of good it does the customer...

QuoteYour upset because I took only what you posted and made a statement that embarassed you in front of your peers. You feel i should get clarification from you becuase your solution on the surface was lacking information or didnt get your whole point across.
I felt that at the time, instead of talking about me like I'm not in the room and directing all comments to Keranu, you easily could've asked me a question or two, "Hey, you do know that shit is temporary at best and risky, right ???" What you did is seemingly make a final conclusion on the spot based on what little I had said at that point.

QuoteTo me that seems like bullshit excuse to be pissed.  Its not mine or anyone elses responsability to ask you to clarify what you say.  If I walk around rambling like Regalsin its not your responsability to try and understand me or your fault you think I am a bipolar wackjob.
It wasn't unreasonable for you to ask a single question to see where I was coming from and what I was fully thinking of if you saw something that bothered you. You didn't at all take it up with me, you just took it up with Keranu and warned him! You DID feel it your "responsibility" to shoot my offer down without any further input...

QuoteFrankly I dont see why you never said anything if you were that bent about it.
This point of yours doesn't make much sense. I RESPONDED to you in that thread... Just that, you never bothered to reply back! I DID say something to you, I said A LOT, in fact, that was probably the longest single post I ever wrote in a sitting... I got it off my chest right then and there. I was supposed to PM you as well ?? It was my responsibility to pursue the matter further via PM with you, but you didn't have to bother asking me for any further input before feeling comfortable in shooting down my offer ??

QuoteYou make the point a union is not a good fix in the event of an emergency stop, but then why would you take the risk of even a temp fix so he can get the car to a shop.  All you saving is a 100.00 tow or a call to triple A.
As I said, I thought it might be interesting to meet Keranu, a fellow Ys and NEC fan, etc. and if it was $100, I'd do it for half, so I'd save him some money, and even more so if I took the whole job from what he'd have to pay professionals. I'd be saving him more than $200+ I'd estimate in that case (tow+shop)... It could've been a brake hose, or caliper, or a rear drum piston, stuff that I could fix on the spot. Now maybe he's shy and would've refused regardless with/without you getting paranoid about my idea, that he just didn't feel he knew me well enough or something (he never said anything to me about it) which I would understand...

QuoteYour heart may have been in the right place to try and save him a few dollars but the method you wanted to use was very risky.  If you dont see it that way then i dont know how else to explain it.
The other thing, given this incident with you, I wouldn't consider using this option again as I did with my car because there's actually a faster method that will allow for slamming of the brakes in an emergency. I bailed out about 11 people in parking lots or a gas station in my time, mostly for jumps; if I can't jump the battery, I'll take the battery out of my car and put it in theirs, hook it up, and start it that way, the other problem but less typical would be a bad starter motor and having to bang on it with a pipe to get it started, etc...

Anyhow, I thought about it, what would be a quick way to bail a buddy out if their brakes failed in a parking lot or a gas station or if they could at least make it to one ? After figuring out if it was the rear driver side or rear passenger side brake line/pipe, I'd go under the hood where the brake line junction is, unscrew that line (disconnecting it) and instead screw back a 3/16" male plug which is easily found at any Auto Parts store. Then, I would only have to bleed 3 tires with the one-man bleeder kit I'd have brought with, along with a big can of brake fluid, etc. And BOOM! That's it! The front brakes account for 75% of the stopping power, the rear 25%, so with brake pressure restored to 3 wheels, you'd have 87.5% of the stopping power restored (75 + 25/2=12.5) when you use the pedal!! You can drive just fine with that, and even slam the brakes hard, but you don't wanna be stupid as the other rear line could have the same corrosion/rust and be ready to pop as well... Furthermore, while that 88% braking power is when you press the pedal, you can also pull the parking brake while braking with your foot, which gives you 100% stopping power, as long as you're comfortable working it and don't let it get stuck; you gotta push it down as you ease up on the pedal...

So, that's how I would've bailed myself out in the future, but since I have all new brake lines now, any future problems would be with the brake hoses or the pistons, etc. But yeah, that idea is far better, faster, and safer. Gives you plenty of time to get it to a mechanic, too! If you wanna be stupid and wait too long after that, well, that's on that person... See, I drove my car around like this with just the front brake lines connected while I was shopping around for the long brake lines (I wanted a 6ft line + threaded coupling + 4ft, etc.)... I first put new lines for the front, bled the system, and had used two 3/16" plugs in the front junction having disconnected and thrown away the rusted/ruptured rear lines, etc.... Thus, I was driving around with 75% stopping power with the pedal, and I would just pull up the parking brake to get 100% stopping power. It's the SAME thing, just an extra action on the driver's part... The rear drums still brake about the same when you pull that parking handle up; you pull it up, then push it down as you let go of the pedal. You're STILL at 100%! If someone still wants to be paranoid about that approach, then so be it...

QuoteYou feel hurt, embarassed for what I said, ok then, I am sorry, (in this situation) my goal is not to humiliate or belittle you.  I hate it when other people do it and I am sorry you felt that way.  At the same time to get this bent out of shape over it.....Dude, grow a pair.
You can't just tell me to grow a pair given the little exchange we had here. You wanted to escalate it earlier... I wasn't as mad as I was before now. The thread was about listing a grudge, I listed it... Making it worse with more insults, then saying, "Hey, grow a pair!" doesn't quite fly.

QuoteYou can just as easiliy sent me a nasty gram and speak your mind as well.
You did it public, I did it public in the next post. This already happened, doesn't mean a grudge just goes away as a result.

QuoteI never gave it any thought becuase frankly my point was made how bad an idea I thought it was and that people should not trust anyone just throwing suggestions out on a forum.  I think you would agree with some of that. If you want to hold a grudge, well not much I can do about that.
I understand, but if I was in your position, I would've directed the comments overtly at the one making a suggestion that I really thought was such a bad, risky idea. You did it in a roundabout way, and directed it entirely at Keranu.

E.g. "Woah, that's a bad idea! You DO know those types of unions will pop under high pressure, such as when you have to slam the brakes and that the auto industry stopped using them for this purpose long ago ??? If you're not gonna change out the whole brake line on the spot, you should at least know what a double flare tool is and should use THAT instead!!"

I THINK that's how I would've done it, but who knows exactly... With your approach it had the tone of, "I've heard enough, Keranu, make sure it's a REAL mechanic that does this..." which was a roundabout hint hint way of saying NOT THIS GUY!!!

QuoteMy comment in chat was just fucking with you.  You took it seriously, ok then, point made.
If Arkhan, Bernie, Sadler, Arjak, etc. had done it, crude joking around among friends or friendly acquaintances, that'd be different. Your case was continued negativity. There was not ever a positive, jovial in-between to speak of, so it just served to compound this and the brothers thread, etc. Even so, I wouldn't joke that way with someone I'm on good terms with, like say if Arjak stopped by the chatroom, I wouldn't say, "Heya assjacker!" as soon as he entered and then continue to be a wiseguy by adding some other line to it like, "Don't let this guy sneak up on you from behind in a public restroom, hint hint fellas!!!" to make clear what my angle was (Arjak->Carjack,er-Assjack,er)... That is something you do because you have some animus for the other person, as was the case here, so telling me it was as simple as "just fucking with me" doesn't fly so much... But so be it, your position is that it was just fucking with me and I shouldn't have taken it seriously then...

QuoteYou really are a fun little lollipop dipped in a triple coating of Psycho.....arent you asswolf

Come on, you cant tell me you didnt laugh at that at all.  I though it was amusing when a friend said it to me last weekend.
Sorry, but no, I didn't laugh at all. Aside from 3 letters, it's practically a complete rewrite of my alias. You might as well had just said, "heya asshole!" and claimed that you've been giggling over that all this time... I think it's about as creative and inspired as NightFag, and the last guy to use that one on me before our resident character assassin and Nazi-sympathizer (American History X...ray) was a dumb High Schooler about six years ago. While that at least maintains a syllable, there's no rhyme to it, or lead in, or say a minor change of letters (something like say 'dark' to 'dick', e.g. DarkKobold to DickKoBold, etc.). That would help in considering the rewrites that we all like to do clever and thus amusing, in my view at least, but whatever. A real good one was "American History X...ray", and to give credit where credit is due, was esteban's clever tag/reference and it's amusing as fuck because of how well it fits; it's a reference to Ed Norton's neo-Nazi movie and given that Xray was making Nazi signs out of his garage and hanging out on a racist hatemonger site, it was downright genius, etc.. I laughed my ass off at THAT!

Anyhow, that's a great apology BTW. You point that out as a finisher after apologizing and you indirectly let me know that hey, you didn't even come up with it (so you disown it in a way), that a "friend" did, which is intended to inform me that I got another "fan" out there besides you. Well, I got plenty of those, one more is not gonna bother me any more or less...

Well, tggodfrey had apologized over PM and it seemed more genuine, I guess, so I accepted... Thought I should mention it instead of leaving the impression we're at each others' throats. I used a strike-through tag on my rant in the Turbo Fest thread as well and mentioned it's water under the bridge. I didn't have to lose my cool like that given the particular issue, but it happens.

Anyway, Arjak, I'll answer your questions on "romhacking hacks.net" in full some time this week. Hadn't forgotten about it. In short, they picked a fight with me, much like GameFAQs, when they decided it's cool to float threats of extortion in the form of "If you don't hand over the Felghana patch for FREE, our favorite pricepoint $0.00, we're gonna contact Falcom!!! Hehehehehe!" Another romhacking hack sent death threats to DeuceBag, my criminal ex-partner, and to his family for simply declining to hand over translation tools and script from his Samurai Shodown RPG project... I don't mean to get in the asshole's tank, but death threats for simply declining to share project materials for fan translation to other languages strikes me as a Nintega-type move... Had a few other types like that myself, hacks wanting me to hand over the source code for TurboRip and the Felghana patch, then after declining, they either went completely psycho or made an extortion threat (e.g. "I'm gonna contact x,y,z!!! Raaawrrr!!!!!"), etc.

Beyond that with RHDN, I have problems with Nightcrawler, especially Spinner8 and most of the staff and others that took part in the thread where the extortion threat was floated, so there are more specific problems with them separate from the general 99% freeloading that they represent, but I'll address this in more detail later.

Arjak

I have something I'd like to get off my chest that's been stuck there for a long time.

Several years back, I discovered this cool little game for the Sega CD called Snatcher. I saw a retro review for it in a game magazine that got my attention, and everywhere I looked for it, people seemed to be raving about it. I played it in a emu (Seriously!? $150!?), and fell in love with it myself. Then one day, I discovered that a few fans were considering creating a sequel fan game. I quickly signed on, and after we created a loose concept, I decided to try to write a script. One of the crew somehow got into contact with the English voice actor for Gillian Seed, the main character of the original game. With pre-production ramping up, I decided to announce the project on the forums of a fan-site called Junker HQ. That's when the nerd-rage of the so-called "fans" began.

It seemed like no one had anything good to say about anything we were doing, and we were barely into pre-production. This one guy, JohnnyUndaunted, seemed especially uppity. He never had one good thing to say, but had plenty of criticism, even though he didn't know anything about what we were doing. All these people seemed upset that we were somehow going to "ruin" Snatcher, even though all we wanted to do was give an opinion on what may have happened after its rather "open" ending. There was also this crazy guy calling himself Lebroz, who had all these bat-shit insane ideas, until we banished him from our sight. After that, we had a guy spamming our forum with insults, scaring away potential crew members, and generally being an all-around immature prick.

Before I had even finished a first draft of the script, I couldn't take it anymore; the insults, the snide comments, the general attitude that people were looking down their nose at us. I called it quits. I did that because I knew these so-called "fans" who acted like they wanted a sequel more than anything in the world were nothing more than snooty, douchebag fucks, who wouldn't even give us a chance. Even if this project had gotten finished and wasn't very good, I knew that they didn't deserve to have it, much less an official sequel. I dropped that community like a bad habit, and I quit the project, which never went anywhere afterward.

It was a bizarre experience, which I've never really gotten over. Ever since, I've been much more careful with sharing any fan-projects of mine with their supposed audience. The whole thing left me bitter and frustrated. I can look on it with more bemusement now, but it still hurts a little. What I find more strange than anything now, was their attitude that I would somehow never amount to what Hideo Kojima had created.

To be honest, even though I enjoy his games, I really don't think he's that talented a writer. Most of his ideas are borrowed from elsewhere, his stories tend to have trouble becoming a comprehensible whole, and he tends to blame the translator for his own failings. He comes across as a prima-donna. You could say the same about his fans.

In the end, I'm actually kind of glad the project never went anywhere. If the community hated us before we had even gotten a script together, do you really think they deserved any kind of finished product?

Quote from: Arjak on 02/25/2013, 04:32 PMI have something I'd like to get off my chest that's been stuck there for a long time.

I've been dying to play snatcher on the sega cd, but haven't wanted to shell out the $200+ its getting now.
Either way, why would they care so strongly against what you wanted to do?  Did you claim to upstage Kojima?  No.  So what's the worst that can happen?  They dont like your story arc?  Whatever, I say do it if nothing else, as a labor of love.

why does nobody translate the pce snatcher? would be the easiest, since the translation literally already exist.

That's an interesting story Arjak, I never knew about that. That mindset is actually kind of what I dealt with, uppity, thankless psychos getting all up in my business and trying to tell me what I should or shouldn't do with my work, etc.

I guess I didn't bother to return to the thread and go into further detail about "romhacking hacks.net" because it seemed like the thread died, nobody else had other stories to contribute and I didn't wanna be the only one doing most of the talking. I had already said A LOT with Terry... Anyhow, I think you got the idea and the fact is, RHDN uses the power that they have gained because of how useful they are to evade criticism, that's the other thing... They can act like bullies and nobody is gonna call 'em out because they're the number one source for fan patches and fucking with or otherwise mistreating people is something they can get away with at times. That arrogant and uppity attitude makes me want to knock 'em down a bit and I don't care how much more unpopular that makes me. The people that I'm unpopular with never supported my work beyond a download, so hard to give a fuck in that sense.

Back to your story though, I actually have an image for Snatcher and a working emulator for SegaCD, but you know, I just never got around to playing it... I heard great things about it, and you probably remember Philippe too, the French guy with the GillianSeed alias that was a pretty big fan of it. A fan-made sequel would've been an interesting accomplishment, but the fact that you acquired this sort of bizarre mindset of assholes that wanted you to fail --or wanted to stop it from happening and ultimately succeeded-- is, well, it just doesn't surprise me... It doesn't occur to these rejects, that hey, you won't have to fucking play it?!? I'd say it's comparable to those like Rachel/Shimarisu (the main Ys IV translator), who were cheering when Working Designs closed down! They're so fanatical and such Japanophiles, that they couldn't stand something like WD even existing, taking liberties with the script, or rewriting it completely, etc. and when it shutdown, they were actually found celebrating that you or I, or anybody else that enjoyed their translation work wouldn't ever have the option to do so again (the market wasn't "big" enough for their methods) and that somehow "script purist" ideology had been vindicated as a result, etc.! Some shit like that, you get the idea.

Anyway, I can totally emphasize with this. Sucks that you gained some Nintega-esque stalkers (sounds like) that kept wanting to get back into the forum to heckle you with their opposition to the project, etc.

Make the sequel for the PCE and I promise to support it, play it, and enjoy it.  Unless it ended up being a total broken trainwreck (impossible to play) or had nothing to do with Snatcher other than the name (like Dungeon Explorer on PSP), who gives a shit if it's not perfect or not as good as the original?  The fun of the first game will always be there - nothing that comes after can ruin it, no matter how bad (*cough* Valis X).

Hmm...maybe I will give this another shot! I shouldn't give a damn about what those losers thought five years ago. If I get this finished, they'll either love it or hate it when they find out, but either way, I win through vindication and/or revenge.

I appreciate the support all of you are giving me. This project is for you! :D

I think I'll start with a total re-write of the script. I wrote that partial first draft so long ago...
