So i was listening to the awesome U.N Squadron OST and i thought it would be fun for us to discuss our favorite video game composers and why. Feel free to post links to music.

Ill start off with my favorite, Yuzo Koshiro: Mainly because of the amazing Streets of rage 2 OST. Its one of my favorites.

Besides the obvious Nobuo Uematsu, I don't know if many can beat Yasunori Mitsuda.  The Chrono Cross soundtrack stands up as one of the best to this day.

Radical Dreamers - Chrono Cross OST
Dream of the Shore Near a Distant World - Chrono Cross OST

#2
Paul Anthony Romero of the Heroes of Might and Magic Soundtracks.  Some of my favorite video game music hands down.

These two themes are quite possibly my most favorite "songs" / "themes" of all the music I listen to:
Sorceress Town Theme (Heroes of Might and Magic 2) -
Sorceress Town Theme (Heores of Might and Magic 2 Expansion) -
The whole Heroes 4 soundtrack is lovely even though the game itself fell short in some ways.
Academy Town Theme (Heroes of Might and Magic 4) -
"The Prayer" (Heroes of Might and Magic 4) -
[Sun 23:29] <Tatsujin> we have hard off, book off, house off, sports off, baby off, clothes off, jerk off, piss off etc

I listen to my iPad all day long at work, and its usually mix between 90's punk and video game soundtracks.

Game music is awesome because it introduces you to things you wouldn't ever be exposed to otherwise.  I discovered Shibuy-kei because of Katamari Damacy.  That led to Fantastic Plastic Machine and Pizzicato Five.  If you like Jazz and Electronica check it out.

Not so much composers but some more good modern songs from OSTs and Piano Collections.

Katamari Damacy - Cherry Blossom Color Season
Katamari Damacy - Lonely Rolling Star

NeiR - Song of the Ancients (Piano)
NeiR - Hills of the Radiant Wind (OST)

Ni No Kuni - Arie Recollection

And you can't do anything without music from FF.
Final Fantasy V - My home, sweet home (Piano)
Final Fantasy X - To Zanarkand (Live Orchestral)

Toss up for me between Yuzo Koshiro, Nobuo Uematsu, and Masato Nakamura.  That Tommy Tallarico guys is pretty good, too.

All great selections so far!

Mitsuda and Iwadare are probably two of my favorite composers as well, but there are some other amazing ones as well.  The Nier soundtrack never ceases to evoke emotions for me.

Other favs:
Motoi Sakuraba (Tales, Eternal Sonata/Trusty Bell)
Koji Kondo (Wind Waker)
Kow Otani (Shadow of the Colossus)
Michiko Naruke (Several Wild ARMS games)
Yukihiro Jindo (Lots of recent Falcom stuff)
and most importantly Ken Nakagawa of GUST fame (Atelier, Ar Tonelico)

ah man.. I love the music in the early Lunar Silver star games and Grandia.

Motoi Sakuraba did some great stuff in Shining in the Holy Ark and a few years back with Infinite Undiscovery..

Also been getting into  Kazumi Totaka of animal crossing games.

Whoever wrote the music for Top Gear on the SNES was pretty good, too.

I have no clue why, but I just can't stop laughing at this.
NW: Hey, I made it on this psycho's Enemies' List, how about that ?? ;)
BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere. You can't tell most retro gamers anything!
