No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

It did, though not well promoted, widespread, or supported for long.

I suggest getting a Duo instead; it'll be cheaper than getting a TG-CD setup and Super System Card.

Don't bother getting a CD-ROM, since your TurboGrafx doesn't play games at the correct speed and a Turbo-CD will likely cost you as much as a PC Engine Duo (which plays 99% of games released) to get to your door (and the System card required to play most CD games on a Turbo-CD could cost as much alone). Just keep the TurboGrafx for playing North American TurboChips, if you don't mind the slower speed. There is a much greater selection of PCE HuCards and most are cheaper than the English versions.

btw: the abbreviation "jap" is against the forum rules.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Welcome. I also suggest the Duo route. will save you money and give you a larger library.
NW: Hey, I made it on this psycho's Enemies' List, how about that ?? ;)
BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere. You can't tell most retro gamers anything!

i dont mind the slower speed, i grew up with pal games. although one game, dungeon explorer, seems to run at the correct speed when ive looked at some long play videos to compare. i cant explain why.all the others do run slower than ntsc
i think im just going to collect hu cards for now and re visit the cd quandry another time

Bardoly

Welcome to Pcenginefx!

You have Populous, but can you play it on your system?

MrFlutterPie

Welcome to the 16 bit graphics revolution!

Yeah, it's not a big deal with HuCards if you don't mind the difference in speed, but CD games, which usually have voice acting and misc data streaming, will likely go out of sync and who knows what issues could arise from it. But like I said, it's cheapest just to get a Duo R/RX once you're ready for CD games, so it's a non-issue.

Well, it "sorta" had a Pal release, just a very limited one.

These are my five choosen games that are not expensive and give you a wide range of genres to play:

Legendary Axe
Blazing Lazers (you already got this one)
Alien Crush
Military Madness
Dungeon Explorer (you got this one too)

soop

Hahah, cool. Awesome gift :)

There's a fuckton of great games - Ninja Spirit is one of the US releases cheaper than it's Japanese counterpart.  As far as shewties go, when you're bored of Blazing Lazers, Final Soldier is probably the best Hu Card shooter on the system, but Cyber Core could offer you some great bang for your buck.  You can buy th

Actually, since you have a converter, the world is your oyster.  There's hundreds of games to explore :D

Welcome on planet obey.
As most already suggested, get a real duo and eventually an rgb or svid mod.
So much greater obey experience you will have :)

There are games still beyond your imagination just waiting to be explored by you.

Have fun because pce always delights and never disappoints :D

Why did NEC not make the PAL system work correctly with the CD attachment?

Quote from: PCEngineHellI already dropped him a message on there and he did not reply back, so fuck him, and his cunt wife.

Tatsujin

NEC didn't even make it run properly in the first place.
Means by putting it into a right market position.
So the PAL CD-ROM attachment never was meant to see the light of sun.

I hook my mega drive up with an rgb scart and it makes a world of difference but the composite on the turbografx isn't that bad i think. plus i'm not too good at soldering

The Turbo Grafx unit would have been modified to run at 50Hz rather than 60Hz, meaning the games run slower.  Same deal with the Megadrive and SNES over here.  The only reason this should really matter is when you're expecting sound to sync from the CD as far as I can see.

People flipping love Duos on here, but I don't own many CD games, I'm mostly about Hu Cards.  There are some great CD games, but you can be content with what you have for years before upgrading.

It does work perfectly, there just isn't any PAL software, on CD or HuCard. NTSC CD games are timed around NTSC hardware.
