12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

I have a question...

I have been scanning the web looking for a game expo for classic games. I found the site for.

"Classic Gaming Expo"

Has anyone ever gone?  They are in their eight year. Is it a good resource for Pc engine, Duo or Turbo stuff? I would like to attend a classic game event, the best-case scenario would be one centered on NEC consuls. Is there such a thing?

If not do you think there would be interest in such an event?

I would think that many of the individuals that collect these items are in the 20's to 40's age range and would be capable of traveling would they? Would you?

My hope is that there is such an event out there but if not, well we need one.

I have always wanted to go to a CGE event, but have never actually gotten around to it.  The one this year would be great if it were just not the weekend that it is scheduled for...  :?  Hopefully SNK is still on as a sponsor next year and they have great Exhibitors like Konomi and Midway there next year (guess those were last year, but looks like they will be back).  I am sure that there is some Turbo/PC Engine stuff there, from what I have read and pics I have seen there are enormous amounts of games to be bought there.  While the idea of a NEC only convention could be cool, I think that it would be alot better to have an event like CGE that isn't focused on a particular company/system, that way you have alot more to do and a much bigger group of people getting together to play, buy, sell, trade, talk, etc.

Don't forget the "Philly Classic" which has been beefed up to this fabulous event:

Sadly, I've never been able to go to these.  They never work out with my work/school/daddy schedule.  I do plan on going... one of these years.

I guess that it would be a bit much to hope for an all NEC expo. I would like to see a decent showing of NEC fans. I do enjoy other gaming systems but a large expo with very little PC-Engine stuff would be disappointing. I'm just trying to gauge the worth of attending one of these other events.

I would very much like to hear form someone who has attended one or both of the mentioned expos.

It's mostly arcade stuff at the classic game shows anyway.

I went to the Classic Gaming Expo a few years ago when they used to hold it in Las Vegas.  While it was pretty cool, there were hardly any TG-16 games at all.  In fact, I think the only Turbo/NEC stuff that I found was at the Telegames booth.  Other than that, there was tons of Atari, Coleco, and Arcade stuff there.  The hall was lined with arcade games that were all on free play.  Again, it was a very cool event, but I don't recommend going there solely for NEC stuff as you probably won't find much.

Oh, and don't forget about the Midwest Gaming Classic: www.midwestgamingclassic.com.

They don't have this year's dates posted yet, but I think it's sometime this summer in Milwaukee.

And I would be more than happy to attend an NEC only gathering, provided there would be a lot of stuff to see/buy/play.
