Tried to find that kind of info on the forum, but I didn´t succeed - so here´s my question:

Since I don´t speak japanese I am a little puzzled how this works with the LT.

Here´s my setup:

-IFU + CDROM2 + LT
-I ave a "Tennokoe Bank Card" on standby.

Currently I am playing "Populous". If possible at all, I´d like to save my actual status. What would be the correct procedure for this (no matter whether it works with Populous or not)? Or do I need a Tennokoe bank 2 without IFU? What else? Or not possible at all?

Thanks for clearing this up!

The IFU has the backup ram for game saves.

The Tennokoe Bank has 4 banks of IFU backup ram and it will only save/copy/swap/delete entire banks at once.

To manage your individual save files, start up a CD System Card and press Select. I believe the first menu option is the file manager. Just be careful, because one of those main options will format your backup ram.

I don't remember if the HuCard Populous saves to backup ram or just uses passwords, but the "RAMROM" logo does not mean it saves onto the HuCard. There is also a CD Populous collection.

There are also devices like the Memory Bank 128, which plug into the controller port, like a Tap does, and you plug your pad or Tap into that. There are guides on how to use it, but I think that you can't save directly to it unless a game supports it. It also requires a (AA or AAA) battery to keep the saves when not powered by your PC Engine.

Thank you for that info. I am getting the menu when I have the CDROM plugged in. But for some reason I don´t see a menu with the Tennokoe Bank Card in the Slot - just a white screen.

Do I need to play from the CDROM part of the IFU to save games - ie saving  from HuCard games isn´t possible at all?

Well, the card looks good so far, and it was sold to me as working.

I´ll give it another shot.

EDIT: You were correct - the contacts needed cleaning. They already looked superbright, that´s why I wasn´t sure if it was card-related.

Are those cards so sensitive to corrosion? (couldn´t see any by eye though)

not many hucard games save some use passwords. The Tennokoe bank is a must if you want to backup your saves in case your dock gets full. You cannot save directly to the tennokoe bank in any game.

I finally figured it out. Unfortunately I killed me my already gathered Populous saves :-(

Actually I am using the IFU as a temporary memory bank and the Tennokoe as permanent tool, right after playing, one slot for each game. Think this is the best solution not to mix up saves from other games. That way I can easily interchange...I prefer cleaning the IFU up, since you obviously cant with the tennokoe....

Do you think that makes sense?
