So I've been wanting an Everdrive for awhile and seeing interest in other threads has prompted me to start this thread. I'd be willing to organize this group buy for some Everdrives.

I'll purchase them from here: http://shop.retrogate.com/Turbo-EverDrive-TURBO-ED.htm

Buying one on your own runs you around $85. This group buy should aim to save you around $10-15. It's $60 per person if 10 are involved so adding in little shipping fees here and there will still cut the cost of buying on your own. I'm figuring out how much the initial shipment of 10 everdrives will be so once i have that i can get a better number for everyone. I'd say now you're looking at maybe $70. I would need the money upfront before i bought it as I don't have that kind of cash to shell out, sorry. I'm sure most of you understand how this works but if not I'll try to explain better.

So I'd like to get a list going of people who are interested and can pay within a week or two (ideally). Once i get a list of how many people want an everdrive i can get exact prices and we can get this ball rolling.

The list:

1-jtucci31 paid
2-Sadler paid
3-BlueBMW paid
4-NightWolve paid
5-Wallzter paid
6-jlued686 paid
7-wildo2ne paid
8-FiftyQuid (Canada) paid
9-Keith Courage paid
10-spenoza paid
11-esteban paid
12-MrFulci paid
13-TheClash603 paid
14-DragonmasterDan paid
15-Medic_wheat paid
16-munchiaz paid
17-BigT paid
18-Rosser paid
19-mrhaboobi (New Zealand) paid
20-reson8er paid

This list should be fully updated. If i missed anyone, please let me know.

UPDATE: So the price for one everdrive plus shipping and expenses will be $70 per person. I feel that's pretty fair and saves everyone around $15 or so if they were to buy it on their own like i said before. I'll start sending PM's to everyone today with my paypal information and whatnot. Hopefully the money can get pooled together by the end of the week and i can order the everdrives then.

Tracking Numbers are out! Everyone should have theirs!!

Sadler

Count me in and thanks for taking lead on this!

wallzter

Is the Usb port required? Is there a shell available to protect it?  If so what would be the price with that?

jlued686

Sign me up, please. Thanks!

Here is a direct quote from NightWolve explaining it. I was asking him questions earlier.

"We don't need the USB option. That's basically so you don't have to eject the SD card and insert it to a computer all the time to add/delete more ROMs. The whole ROM library is available and doesn't change unless you count hacks/translations which are rare enough to not justify needing immediate USB plug'n'play support to modify the SD card.

It's just like phones/cameras, it's convenient to not have to pull out the SD card all the time by instead using the USB cable, but not necessary."

So basicslly, like he said, we don't need the USB option. You just use a mini SD card about 2gb in size and it gets the job done.

The shell is about $10-15 or so. There is an everdrive thread in the TG16 discussion thread (ill link it later, I'm on my phone now) that has some good info on everdrive stuff and links to cases as well. We won't be buying cases so that's on you.

Add me obviously, the money's been sitting in my paypal account for this. Thing is, how do you transfer without incurring paypal fees ? Any time somebody donated to me, paypal always took a cut. I recall someone doing a check like action and that avoided it, but yeah.

BlueBMW

If you send via gift there should be no fees for the recipient.

Count me in too.  If you can send that link about the shells I'd appreciate it. I would like the shell because It seems so fragile without it.

Shit I hadn't thought of that, good point. I know if you link your bank account to your paypal you can get past those fees. But I'm sure not everyone has that. I guess I'll have to ask for a little more if that's the case.

BlueBMW

Everyone should be able to send as gift.  If the source of the funds isn't your paypal balance or bank account then the fee will be charged to the sender when gifting.

NightWolve

Yeah, don't use a credit card, it's only fair that they'll have to charge CC processing fees then. I have over a hundred in paypal balance so I should be good. If not, I'd resort to mailing him a personal check.

Add me to the list.  However, I'm screwing everything up by being in Canada.  So if you US guys don't want me in on this let me know and I'll bow out.  It's rough being a Canuck.
I'm busy playing pinball, but I still drop by to visit.

Worst case have yours sent to me fifty and Ill forward it along to you.

Where are the covers/cases available for sale? The last place I looked, they were not available anymore.

I may be interested in joining in on this, it just depends on where cases are available.

I mean the cases that cover the board to protect it from damage inserting it into a system and whatnot,  not anything like a storage case.

I don't really mind shipping to Canada. I'd like to include as many people who want an everdrive as possible. I may ask you for a few bucks more if that's ok, but it should not be anything too drastic. I'd appreciate people telling me in advance if they live outside of CON U.S. So i appreciate ya letting me know FiftyQuid.

Here is the Everdrive thread that was on here not too long ago and gave me the idea for the group buy: https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=16526.0

It's got some good info about everdrives and how to load them and such. It also includes the cases:
Quote from: guest on 07/14/2014, 06:11 PM"Classic Style" http://shpws.me/q6MW
"Super Low Profile Style" http://shpws.me/q6MX

(taken from the maker here)
So that's for people asking about those. Now i contacted the retrogate store and they told me that shipping any amount of everdrives would be $5. (Seems strange but it's what they said so I'll go with it). With that being said the price per individual should decrease, however I'm still figuring out logistics. So i would still keep that $70 range in your head just in case as that should be the top dollar we pay per everdrive.

Thanks for the information on the shells. last I looked at that place, they were OOS or something, but that was a while ago. Could have also been for an older model shell.

Jtucci, put me down for one. I'm interested in tinkering with one.

awesome man. Count me in on this. Send me your Paypal and i'll get the money out to you ASAP. Thanks again for doing this.

NightWolve

Wow, so getting 10+ participants wasn't all that hard. Fast! ;)

So yeah, at least $70 per person versus the $84 you'd pay buying it individually. Now that excludes something for jtucci's time + $1 per his own box/shipping material. I would be happy to at least save $10 bucks on this, so up to $74 would be fine by me - it might not work out that way, but yeah. What sucks is USPS rates are high in Illinois where he's at, so I'm doubtful he can get a $5 standard shipping rate anywhere in the US, but we'll see. You can save a dollar by not paying for a tracking number, but that'll suck if there's a problem.

jtucci31

Damn 16 people already. I'm glad that this is working out well so far.

I went to the post office today in my town and i was informed that shipping in small flat rate boxes is only $5.80 pretty much anywhere CON U.S. I asked about Canada and they said that would be around $20, so we will have to talk about that Canadians. Once again Please tell me if you are outside of CON U.S. I'm sure we can work something out, it would just be nice to know ahead of time. I feel as though the small flat rate boxes are a pretty good idea as it should fit the everdrive nicely. I can only order 5 at a time from the  USPS website for free so I'll have to figure that out. (Should i order 5 at a time? Or is there a grace period). I also forgot to ask about tracking numbers so I'll get on that soon as well, because I'm sure tracking numbers are wanted.

We definitely have enough people already to go in on this, but i feel like we should wait to see if anyone else wants to get in on the group buy. I'm thinking maybe by this Saturday for the deadline to be. And then after that I'll start PM'ing everyone about Paypal junk and whatnot. If anyone objects and thinks i should wait longer (or end it sooner and order sooner) let me know!  :)

Also the list of people should be updated as i try to get them on there as soon as i see them (if i didn't then i would for sure get lost)

BigT

I'd like to be included too.

Thanks for organizing this!

If you go to your local post office, then you should be able to get as many small flat rate boxes as you need.  Also, if you register online at the post office website, then I believe that if you print out the shipping labels and pay for them online, then small flat rate to CON US is only $5.25, so a small savings there.

That's good to know about printing the labels, thanks. But when i went to the post office the lady told me to just order them from online because she didn't want me taking their whole stock of them (and at this point I'll need about 20). I can only request 5 at a time from online which sucks.

Edit: I was able to order 25 boxes from USPS. The website has a max set at 5 yet the USPS app on the iPhone let me order in increments of 5, 25, and 50. Not sure how that makes sense but i got that settled  :)

Well, depends on you and if you're willing to do all this remailing work once the order arrives. Careful not to overwhelm yourself with it, just sayin'. First time out, I'd probably only wanna handle 10 (I would've stopped it there), not 20.

BlueBMW

If its a concern I dont mind handling reshipping all the international orders.  First class international is a cheaper alternative to priority mail international and is pretty reliable.

And to answer mrhaboobi, uhhh, let me check on that. Like others I'm sure it's fine and I'll just ask for some more money if that's ok to compensate shipping.

USPS must think you guys are retarded.  A flat rate ship box is exactly that.  It's a great deal for anyone in the USA as it offers convenience, but it's a ripoff when shipping anywhere else in the world.  Give USPS $5.80 or $20 and they'll ship it anywhere.  $5.80 anywhere in the CON US is accurate.  Yeah, they might take a hit going to one spot, but they make up for it in others.

$20 to Canada is a joke.  Please don't use a flat rate box.  Just box it yourself and ship it.  The Customs forms are a breeze.  Just mark it as a gift and make sure the $$$ is marked as under $99.  Heck I can do the forms from my location for you.  Sorry if I sound pissed, but I'm so sick of the post office in Canada and the USA shaking their cocks at each other.

BlueBMW, do not take a hit on shipping for me.  I still consider myself in debt to you for the SNES.

Sorry small flat rate for all CON U.S. seems like a reasonable deal and relatively easy.

I have some extra boxes that are smaller laying around my house, are you suggesting i just use that instead of a small flat rate and it will be cheaper?

NightWolve

I sent a SNES part (the cart connector) in a bubble-mailer to a friend in Nova Scotia, Canada for $7.80, and that's cause I cheaped out and saved a dollar by not paying for a tracking number. It made it there OK, but I wasn't happy about asking him for a few more bucks to cover the shipping...

BlueBMW

Less than four pounds of weight can go first class international which is usually pretty quick and relatively cheap.  If I had to guess, the everdrives will probably be $7-$9 to ship this way.

I have shipped to various locations in Canada fairly recently.  Small flat rate box was like $22.  :(  Using my own box and sending it first class was about $13-14.

I'm fine with paying $10-$15 to ship up here to me.  It's the flat rate box I have a hate on for.  It inflates the cost of everything shipped to Canada.  It's practically the only option left on eBay because people have gotten too lazy to box things themselves and fill out a form.
