Hello all!

I was getting ready to sell my TG-16 collection (can't stand the thought, but I need to) and I was looking up some prices for some of the games I have. I've been extremely inactive in the world of TG-16 so I wanted to see what the general thought is. I have a US version (complete/excellent condition) of Cotton and was taken back by some of the prices I've seen it go for. Is it really worth $300 - $500??? That seems insane to me.
Is there a good place to gauge prices for the rest of my games?

Thanks for any info on this

Nuts....they are all nuts. No really there are a few guides on here but if I recall not so up to date. I also read somewhere there is a pretty current (or more current) guide out there on the web. poke around you might be able to find it with a search. You prolly wouldn't get that much for it here unless you get a fish on the hook. Any how it sucks to have to sell but good luck.

Do an AUCTION. Run it for 7-10 days, use all appropriate key words, and take a good picture. At the end of this period, a magical genie will appear before you and reveal the current price for U.S. Cotton.

Here's how to find out prices:

Approx. 50-90% lower than the median of sold auction sales on the ugly, evil place of baying. For games not listed, simply dig deeper (google-google-google)... or hold some raffles on this adorable site before you. :3

Nevermind, do this:

I picked up a copy here a year or so ago for $150. I think any game selling for more than that much is ridiculous.  ...then again I think a game selling for that much is ridiculous.

...huh.
Current want list:  Bomberman 93

A while ago one of our forum members was selling some stuff at neo-geo.com.  Cotton happened to be one of those games. It sold for around $200.  I would personally let it ride on ebay with a 0.01 start bid.  Trust the stupidity of collectors.  They will give you the price you want, or you could take offers from us here.

Make sure your auction ends on the weekend.

How'd you come up with $300-500?  Sounds like you've answered your own question about how to find current eBay values.  Thanks for wasting our time.

I paid $49.99 for my copy.  Not sure if it was worth that much.

To me anyway.

Good luck with your sale.  :)

Yes, and at a time where all US time zones are up and at 'em.  Don't want the auction to end too early or too late.

My sealed copy sold two years ago for $260. Well publicized, ten-day auction.

Thanks for the info guys!

Yeah I think that is a bit steep for a TG16 game, the most I've ever paid for a AES game was $250, but for Neo-Geo I expect those prices. Anyway http://videogames.pricecharting.com/game/turbografx-16/cotton-fantastic-night-dreams-%5Bsuper-cd%5D states over the past couple years averaging around $515 for an open copy. A CD based game can't be worth that much if you ask me. That's a good chunk of change to buy another console or pay off some debt.

[edit]
Sorry... not average, but the high.

Does it really matter if it's a CD or a cartridge?

Neo Geo cart games are worth <$3.

CD games double as audio CDs and have much better sound. They should be worth more than clunky old carts.

Well, this coming from a AES and MVS owner I really love the Neo-Geo. The prices on the games started out high so paying a high price for them now does not bother me that much. But, for CD games that cost $50-$60 when they were released costing $500 now is a bit crazy in my mind.

That being said today I bought the most expensive CD game than I ever have.

Obviously not Fighting Street.

Can I buy your Cotton for the price you paid so I can have one for each ball as to cover up when I go streaking this Halloween?

Wow.  Subtract $125 from that price and that's about what I paid for my "no one wants TG-16 games" in 93.

Damn... $40 for fighting street!? That's like paying $20 for Karate Champ.

For Fighting Street I was willing to pay that much. It was the first TGCD game I bought back in the day... even though I didn't own a TGCD system. So now that I finally got it I decided to pick this game up again.

Can I ask why you are selling?  I sold my stuff off about a year and a half back to pay for my wedding, and am trying to get back in, so I am just curious.

Other than that, just do the auction thing recommended by vestcunt, or even try to sell it on here to another wanting member of the community for a fair price.

Collectards were already paying as much as $200 for Turbo Cotton when I sold my sealed copy for $70.

An older member here sold his for 250.00 couple years ago.  It seems when its a new member we chastise him, if its an older and more established member we turn our backs to it and ignore it.

You mean VestCunt's?  His started at a buck and I've no reason to believe he shill bid to get it to its ending value, so why would I bitch about that?  It'd be a different story had he relisted it for months as an overpriced BIN or set the asking price here on the forum at $250.

Genuine COTTON runs close to 1k. There are many fake copies that sell up to $300. There is a thread here somewhere that distinguishes fake from real copies.
