12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

...I didn't make this connection until now and I thought it was pretty neat. I have only been really active in Turbo stuff for a couple years or so but I have been a Judas Priest fan for 20+ years. So I had to chuckle when I saw the Ballistix art:

Because I was like wait--I've seen that before:

I haven't played the game--but it's a good album (not their best though)!

Priest rules. That is all.  8)

im fairly new to the turbo scene, only been collecting for 1 and 1/2 years so I never even knew that but that is actually pretty cool!

Judas Priest = Hell yes.

You could have mentioned "Turbo Lover" as another Judas Priest <> TG-16 connection.  :pcgs:

I am glad you posted this because a lot of folks here might not know about the connection in cover art.

The biggest problem with Ballistix is that it is executed poorly. Perhaps the concept/mechanics could be fun...but as the HuCARD stands, it's just a mess. I never played the computer version(s) to compare.

Psygnosis used real artists for cover art (Shadow of the Beast, for example, was also painted by someone who did rock album covers—not sure if it was same artist as Ballistix).

Judas Priest got sued for using it. Incidentally, it was only on the reprint.

Good point on Turbo Lover!

Not liking the review of Ballistix--I have a copy on the way to me now. Oh well.

That explains that....I knew the album but when I googled it I did mostly get (what I guess is) the original cover. That confused me for a bit.

Breaking the law...
Indeed. I'd be screaming for vengeance if I were the artist who originally created the painting.

I have been lucky enough to have seen Judas Priest a few times :-)  Here is a vid from one of the concerts that I went to (not my vid! I was in the standing crowd somewhere)

JUDAS PRIEST. breaking the law. live , NEC LG arena. birmingham. U.K.. 14/02/09

Ballistix on the other hand, no comment ........ LOL

I think it may be the opposite of what you think. The original cover was this:

Obviously, a bit too close to Coca-Cola. I think JP later used the artwork you cite, and it may be they licensed it from the same source.

I don't remember you making the Break In (HuCARD) <--> Breakin' the Law connection years ago.

I see, so the art really came from a book ("The Steel Tsar") others pointed out by Mister "Moarcock" ():

So did the game developer use it without permission like Judas as well or ? If someone has the game, maybe somewhere on the CD label or manual it mentions licensing/trademark to the artist or publisher. Seems the Judas Priest band was the one that did the suing though for the previous album cover against Coca-Cola:

IMG

They switched from that cover art to the one from "The Steel Tsar." Would seem wildly hypocritical if they sued another company for copying their prior art/font and then just willy nilly snatch somebody else's art for a reissued version of the same album... Probably somebody got their story wrong ?
