@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Just found out the hard way that I need a system card to play my newly acquired Macross game. I'm in the U.K.

That should definitely save you some coin then.  US versions are rediculously expensive while JP cards are relatively cheap.  You may also consider an Arcade Card Pro (Not Duo) as they function as a 3.0 card also.  Then you'd have the ability to play any of the Arcade cdrom games if you had interest in doing so.
