I have to toot my own horn on this one!! I beat Battletoads today! Used two warps and two continues but who cares, I beat Battletoads on the NES! I have owned this game since the early 90's and it feels good to finally be triumphant!!

Really? My friend and I never came close to beating it back in the day, but it would have demoralized us to know it was all in vain!

An exercise in futility.

One of the later racing segments was where we just fell apart as a team. The trauma has never gone away...

Yeah,
I believe there is a trick to do it, but only if one of the two players is dead.

So yeah, it's just not possible without exploiting another bug in the game.

I managed to beat Battletoads over a weekend some years ago with about a day or so of practice and studying playthrough videos.

Congrats! I put months into this game as a kid and cleared it twice (using warps). I have way less patience nowadays and usually give up on Terra Tubes.

The regular Battletoads for Genesis is considerably easier than the NES version.

I had to get a Game Genie just to *practice* on Battletoads... and I still haven't mastered it.

Ditto. My brothers and I played the fire out of NES Battletoads back in the day, but we NEVER could beat it, even using Game Genie codes... Of course, we always played it 2-player, so that might have had something to do with it, as it actually seems much harder as 2-player instead of 1-player.

Yep, it's WAY harder with 2-players due to your attacks always hurting the other player, and both of you having to pass each stage together (including Turbo Tunnel, ugh). Also, the almost-game-breaking bug on the 2nd to last stage that someone else mentioned above.

I've never gotten past TT with two players.

Yea you need to do the trick on Clinger Winger if you are going to beat it 2 player..

Here is a video with two of the best speed-runners of the game doing a co-op run.. Pretty ridiculous!
