Ah, the late 80's, it was a different time... John McTiernan was still a blockbuster director with Predator, DieHard and The Hunt for Red October under his belt. Voltron, ThunderCats, X-Files, Married with Children, etc. was still on free TV. Those were the days... Yep, I actually was content with regular TV, there was stuff I wanted to watch on it but eventually I tuned out of the old boob tube. The TV is mostly a movie event to me once in a while.

Times change of course. McTiernan long since lost his mojo, got caught up with that Anthony Pellicano crap, had to legally battle it for years before it finally ended in 10 months jail time at great expense, divorce and now potential loss of his estate... :/ Another great director we lost from the early 90's was Paul Verhoeven (Robocop, Total Recall, Basic Instinct, Starship Troopers) after Carolco went bankrupt, destroyed by the IRS actually (as well as 2 big-budget flops)... There's a good argument for a flax tax system and IRS elimination somewhere in there when it comes to ole Carolco I think but that's a pipe dream.

Well, that's all I got for now to give some life support/resuscitation to nulltard's thread here which he made originally to give me and EvilEmoX, the 4th dimensional spacenerd, less visible fighting space and what not away from the movie thread... His heart was in the right place in principle. Internet is serious business, you know...

I learned, as a kid, what smegma was by watching Red Dwarf.

HOWEVER, I resented Red Dwarf because I had read in a Doctor Who magazine that one episode of Red Dwarf was allotted the same budget as an entire season of Dr. Who, so, naturally, I was upset.

Dr. Who was cancelled around the same time Red Dwarf was beginning, so it was hard not to think that BBC was dumping one and nurturing the other.
