So, are there any X68k fans in here as well? I'd love some game recommendations, I'm a big fan of all sorts of action games, Platformers, Shmups, Beat'em ups, Racing games (so long as they're not top-down) and Fighting games, Especially Fighting Games, the more fighting games you can recommend me the better!
Not a big fan of puzzle games, adventure games, visual novels and eroges though...

Here's what I've already played on the X68000:
After Burner II
Akazukin ChaChaCha
Akumajou Dracula
Aquales
Arcus Odyssey
Asuka 120% Burning Fest (Probably my favourite game on the system)
Bomber Man
Chase HQ
Cotton
Daimakaimura
Darius
Etoile Princesse (My other favourite game on the system)
Final Fight
Gradius II
Granada (My Other other favourite game on the system)
Mad Stalker
Sol Feace
Space Harrier
Star Trader
Star Luster
Street Fighter II
Strider Hiryu
Super Hang-on
Super Star Shooter
Tatakae Konyako EX
Thunder Blade

If you know a really good action game that's not on this list, particularly if it's a fighting game, please let me know about it, I'd love to play more on this incredible machine!
Thanks in advance!

Just wait for SuperDeadite to provide an adequate and worthy answer.

But my personal recommendations would be to try out Chorensha, R+R, Illumination Laser (if you have the necessary ram), Salamander, and Direct-X for great shooters. THere are a ton more great ones that I cannot think of off the top of my head. You're making me wish I had brought my setup with me to my college apartment.

I assume since you've tried so many that you have some sort of CF in your unit.

Honestly just spend hours watching through SuperDeadite's YT:

Yeah, I have done a LOT of x68k videos, all on real hardware already.
There is pretty much no end to the doujin fighters on this system, there are hundreds of them, and most are garbage lol.

VS. Memorial is probably my favorite though.
Are you emulating?  Some of the best games require rather special setups.  Neural Gear is fantastic with a Cyberstick, but otherwise borderline unplayable.

Oh and play Choujin.  Everyone must play Choujin.

Thanks for the recommendations ^^
But oh I wish I had my own 'unit', too bad the cash is short on my end, so I'm just doing emulation, with that in mind RAM shouldn't exactly be a problem...

I'll check out VS. Memorial, but it sure could have used some better music >w>

I play most of my games with my SNES USB controller, since most X68000 games only use 2 buttons I'm fine with just using the D-pad and the A and B buttons, it works wonders!
(I know most people prefer to use B and Y, but I prefer A and B)

SuperDeadite

Emulation?  No analog/unique setup games then:
Major retail releases not on your list:

Genjuuki: Undeadline
Geograph Seal
Choujin
Metal Orange EX
Star Wars:  Attack on the Death Star
Wanders from Ys
Valis 2

It's still one of my favorites. BUT given that he's just emulating on his PC, couldn't he just download the PC version of the game and make his life a little easier?

I've played it on the emulator already, it's pretty good, however when I was looking for it on the internets I found out that there was an X68000 version of Detana! Twinbee, and that game pretty much stole my attention, holy crap, it's so much better than the PC engine version! (Which often isn't the case)
That soundtrack, I'm listening to it right now as I type this, I'm addicted to it, sounds so great! And the graphics though, absolutely brilliant! Not like the PCE version doesn't have great graphics either, but that extra background layer made all the difference in this version...

I also tried out Choujin, it's pretty good too, couldn't find Illumination Laser or R+R yet... Gonna look for the rest soon!

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll try it on my Win95 rig.

Got a decent run on Choujin last night.

PukeSter

There's a River City Ransom (Kunio) port, but it's lengthened with a bunch of repetitive areas.

Might be worth checking out, though stick with the Turbo CD port.

Thanks! Although I think I'll be just sticking with the GBA version...

Arkhan Asylum

Scorpius (found on accident one day while looking up crap for the old Amiga game Scorpio, lol: https://youtu.be/cm9gjUFeBaQ why.)

Goddess Blazon?

Ajax?

Angel Dive?

Jumping Fla... I mean, Geograph Seal (<3)

Illumination Laser (doujin shooter) was pretty awesome.

Code Zero

I say play Geograph Seal, though.   That game fuckin rules.

Glad you already found Toilet Princess.   That game also fuckin rules.

Too bad you're not into the titty games or adventure games.    You could play 177 just for a laugh.   You basically chase a lady home and try to diddle her.    I am fairly positive that was ported to X68k.

You might want to fire up Hydlide 3 on X68k just for the soundtrack.  It's one of the most charming game soundtracks I think I have ever heard.   X68k got a pretty nice version of it.   The Megadrive probably got the best one though.

If you liked Star Luster, you should check out the Star Wars game too.

After posting in this thread, I still try to figure out why Japanese people wanted an Amiga back then.   The x68000 basically operates as an Amiga that isn't full of garbage games.

seriously.   What the shit are we even looking at here.

The music is more for a dance club than a game, and the game itself makes me sleepy.
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

Scorpius is excellent, but hard as balls.  Recommended for those who find R-Type too easy.
Goddess Blazon is a rather "meh" doujin fighter.  Graphics look very PCE-ish though.
Ajax was a great port for it's time, but since he's emulating, may as well stick to the arcade version.
Angel Dive is wonderful, but not so n00b friendly as you have to HDD install it, and music is MIDI only, no FM.
Code Zero is all about the music, love it.

177 does exist on X68K, but it's actually a doujin port of the X1 version, not official.  Same goes for Laydock, which is actually a port of the obscure as hell SuperMZ version.  There is even a doujin port of Yosaku, the best game on the original Cassette Vision.

In general, the X68000 is just an excellent machine for making things more badass.
For example, Missile Command Special Version:

Regarding the Amiha, the X68K port of Lemmings retains the weirdo 2 player split-screen option with dual mice support.  Yay.

What was the name of the racing game on Cassette Vision (it looks like Pole Position/Lap Twin) with "NEC" road signs... you posted videos, IIRC, a few years ago.

I found some screenshots I took of those "NEC" billboards on an old harddrives and was scratching my head...

DUAL MICE SUPPORT?

Ok, that is an intriguing topic. How many games have done that (on any platform).

It is especially intriguing when we consider the pre-USB  era of hardware...

That was Pole Position II, but for Super Cassette Vision.  Super Cassette Vision was a Famicom era console.  The original Cassette Vision was a completely different console from the Atari 2600 era.  Power wise, slightly weaker then the Atari even.  Only 12 games released.

Dual mice wise.  PC's have never supported this feature.  afaik only the Amiha and X68000 allowed it.  The Atari computer versions of Lemmings also had 2 players, but used digital joysticks, not analog mice.  The DOS/Windows versions of Lemmings all had the 2 player mode removed.

On X68000, Lemmings, Marble Madness, Shufflepuck Cafe, and others all have this feature.

Arkhan Asylum

I figured since emulating was happening, Doujins were good to go.   Goddess Blazon is pretty ho-hum gameplay wise, but the art/music/sfx make it a fun one to fuck with.

Most doujins are simple.  Angel Dive is a special case though.  The floppy image on the net is some pirate shit a hacker made.  Its missing the final stage and has no sound.  Game was never meant to run off floppies.

To play it correctly, you need the original lzh archive that came on a cd rom based fan magazine.  Must be installed properly on an HDD.  You have to manually add sound drivers, and music is MIDI only.  So you need to get that setup as well.  Great game, but requires quite a bit of work.

Doujins are fine so long as they're fun to play...
I just tried Goddess Blazon for a little bit, let's just say it doesn't feel very 'solid' >w>
It's not even as good as Tatakae Konyako, which in itself isn't even that good... It has slightly better graphics than that, but the music isn't as good...
I guess I can't really expect anything on this system to come even close to Asuka 120% now can I? Oh well... I'll try the other games sooner or later, I've also played Geograph Seal, it's really impressive, and it wipes the floor with Star Fox in terms of just how smooth it runs, but Star Fox is still more fun to actually play, all in all it's good, but I still don't exactly know what to do in it, I'll need some more time to figure it out...

Well your first problem is probably that you're comparing it to Star Fox, which plays completely differently... lol

The levels tell you what to do, so you kind of just run around and do said thing, while jumping around on stuff, or shooting it into a coma.

It's the non kawaii version of Jumping Flash.
