What happened?  I'd hate for that to have been a good/working Cadash that's now in two pieces.

We just talked about Cadash! But this wasn't my playing copy. I got this a few months from a store that had it returned back because it didn't work. Thinking I could maybe get it to work I took it (or at least get to see what it's like inside) I had no luck fixing it. Saying I cleaned the shit out of it is an understatement. I went above and beyond to try and get it to work, so I pryed it open and yeah. Still no work.

I'll send it to someone if they swear on their life not to post it to eBay as "untested"

My past-life would've surely led to our demise, and I had left it not a moment too soon. Our escape, though dangerous, had gone well. The train ride, sunlight, and passing snow-covered pine trees came together in a flickering show of our bright, new future together. Her head rested on my shoulder as she soundly slept to the gentle rocking of the passenger car. We felt freedom. We felt peace.

Quote from: Nulltard on 04/17/2017, 11:11 AMI bet some of the internal traces had microfractures. I periodically reflow my most valuable games by microwaving  for a few seconds to make sure they don't suffer the same date as your Cadash.
I prefer roasting my HuCARDS at 375°F for a few minutes every two years or so.

As a preventative measure, it's much safer than the microwave.

It should be sealed in a mint-condition cardboard box for boiling to be effective.

I had no idea the hucards had an "inside". I thought the card was flat, except for the very edge. But I'm an idiot, so I was wrong.

I've never seen any pictures of what the insides look like before, had to find out for myself :)

Damn it's gettin medieval in here! But boiling it, Really? I know there's 0 on stats on the screen, and it's overall not very balanced as other Working Design games. But I don't know if it deserves the punishment of the damned =P~ (unless it's 7th saga).
I guess using extreme heat is the viking funeral for Turbografx games, PM me if you're name isn't Karlmarx and i'll ship it lettermail for $3 to anyone looking to vent their Cadash frustrations.

I wonder though if all TG16 boards are the same? I know some games have different weight, and the black part can vary in size. So they probably look different.

There's pics posted here of the insides of a SFII' and an Arcade Card Pro, ya just gotta hunt for them.

I dare dare you to open up US Magical Chase. My bet: There is a solid gold bar hidden inside.

Besides cleaning the pins, using brasso and sandpaper I don't think there's anything else for hu cards you can really do. Or if there is, I would love to hear about it :)
Since hu cards were 9999X more popular in the east, maybe they have a more definitive fix I just haven't heard of yet?

AAA+ idea, Although the black part does kind of bend it when you take it off. Maybe this is where Esteban n friends were going when they suggested using heat. Loosening up the seal

It takes so long!! 30 carts would take like an hour of constantly screwing/unscrewing. I guess if you cleaned them at the same time it would really be worth it. It's amazing how much gunk is left on those boards even after rubbing alcohol.

We need a TurboGrafx 16 grave yard. Or a freezing chamber (like you're hoping for) we can put them in, incase someone from the future learns how to bring the living back from the dead

Yeah, I used to clean my NES/Genesis games by taking them apart to clean the contacts too but it is a lot of work.  Nowadays I just use 90% rubbing alcohol and eyeball the contacts to make sure they don't look too gunky.  If it looks real bad I'll crack it apart but try to avoid it if I can.

It's a ridiculous amount of work cleaning those pins. I've been backlogged on cleaning, so I constantly have a stack of SNES/NES games that aren't with the rest because I haven't cleaned them yet. That's good you do that though, especially with NES games. Prolonging getting your machine dirty, and not having to boil down the 72 connector so frequently. And besides, I don't think anyone likes that hot plastic small.
It reminds me of leukaemia and respiratory cancer

Do people actually boil the NES connector pins?

Never heard of this, but until joining this forum, I had never heard of washing PCBs in the dishwasher either.

Yeah man, it's a very popular way to fix the blinking red light on NES consoles. It cleans it, and makes them malleable enough to slightly bend them so it has a better connection when you put a game in.

I know you're not going to believe me so you're gonna google it anyways :D

It's crazy how little there is inside, compared to like a NES board.
