A little background before the question.

I have a first generation US Duo, got it as a gift the year it was released. It has been dropped at least one time. It has also been in storage for the last 3 years. The last time I played it, it was working fine. I never had the "CD Audio" issue and it had never shown signs of that problem.

Now onto the problem. I recently had it shipped to where I am currently living and when I loaded up the first game (Lord of Thunder) the music on the first level was gone :? . But, the sound effects worked, so you know what I am thinking at this point. It played all other tunes but the level music. Then I put in another CD, all audio working :D . I restarted that CD and some of the audio was missing :? . Then I put in another disc, about 15 minutes in the audio died  . I put in a card, no audio  . It was making a crackling sound through the speakers before it died. I am thinking that it could be the AV cables and not the system, since the Card audio is also gone. Not sure.

So, does anybody know the problem....any educated guesses?

Thanks....

On certain levels of Lords of Thunder, you need to play air guitar in order to get the sound to work.

GUTS

^^ Haha, that was actually pretty awesome.

 Its nice to know I'm not the only one who does that. If there is a person who can resist playing the old air guitar during the ending I haven't met them. Of course I wouldn't recommend it during a level.

Seriously though, it could be your cables. My Saturn does this stuff all the time and I know its the AV cables. Try wiggling them just a bit after the sound goes out. If it pops back in at full strength then I would say you might have found your problem.

I hate to sound like a quote from Gauntlet but.

Your Duo is about to die! Duo needs food badly!

Sounds like it needs to go to D-lite
