12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

I found this video with a bunch of Hudson games, & it has a different version of China Warrior.  It looks almost the same, with the exception of the paralax continuing right up to the boss, while the Turbo version's paralax stops before the boss, plus, the music is different, same song, but, different instruments.
It's in at about 4 minutes:

I think its just all supped up versions of old Hudson titles.

Yeah. It looks like they didn't actually change any of the core games, just mainly music and sound.

From the description, they were apparently downloadable/playable on some online service for the PS2 in Japan called the "Hudson Channel."

Look at Star Soldier for example, the exact NES version is still there. They just added a high-color nebula in the background underneath the NES layer and gave it better sounding instruments. In the case of China Warrior, they just upgraded the sound only.

That service looks pretty cool. I love the new background for Star Soldier. It also seems like they gave a new gradient water background for China Warrior.

Ok, I was thinking that Star Soldier was just the GC/PS2 version.  The paralax is improved for China Warrior though.  Hmm, makes me wonder if they added any paralax to the other levels.  It seems like a couple of the games aren't really upgraded though.  Like I think that's Milon's Secret Castle near the end, it looks like an NES game.

No

No freakin' way. They completely remade SS on the GC/PS2 project. That's just a pretty background underneath an NES-emulated layer.

And as far as China Warrior goes-- extending the parallax 1.5 seconds isn't exactly what I would call an "upgrade."  :D

ParanoiaDragon

I can't remember, I have it for GC, but, I haven't played it in awhile.  And hey, 1.5 seconds  rocks!

Wow, is there anyone here who has had first-hand experience about this "Hudson Channel" on the PS2?

You know that I was stoked to hear about a variation of China Warrior (however minor the "upgrade"). AWESOME.
