Anyone collect Retailer Store Binders ?

So I was wondering if anyone here has any of the 3 ring binders that are given to retail stores ? The ones that give information about upcoming games, systems, an accessories ?

What I am looking to do is see if anyone would like to start a scanning project to gather a history for them.

I own 4 of these binders. 2 Nintendo versions, one MS Xbox version, and a Sony version.

I've never even held one let alone collect them. Can you scan a few pages so we can see the sort of info inside? Best of luck on your project.

I sure can. The pages are usually just the pages that are like the advertisements in magazines but they also have the catalog numbers, upc codes, and release dates usually on them

The bottom of the barrel...it has been scraped.

I could have taken home dumpsters full of stuff like this during my time at EB. There is only so much room for Crash Bandicoot and Spec Ops promotional material in my house though.

I had a few of them back in the day but sold them. Think i got $30 or $40 for the 3 i had.

I think they'd look cool on a shelf, but personally I have no interest in them.  It's unique, but not that interesting.

I love that Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of Time had a target audience of 13-34 year old males, was promoted on the "Scholastic Teen Network" and employed such marketing tactics as "email blasts" to 200,000 PS2 owners.

Yeah, I am with you on this.  Seems like anything can be a collectible nowadays.

I agree, but the reason I am asking if anyone would be interested in these are more for history of the games. Kinda like how arcade collectors like the flyers that was mailed out to the arcade ops to try and get them to buy the games.

Yeah, I love these retail binders because it was part of each game's marketing and it is not the side we (consumers) always get to see. Sure, lots of the materials are generic, but that goes with the territory. It's the very nature of the beast.

I enjoy examining old video game advertisements, reading old magazines, retail binders, etc. to see how each of these documents intersects with the history of the consoles, platforms and industry I enjoy so much.
