Is there a way I can shut off e-mail notifications when new members register?

Seconded. Between Joe and myself we're handling the new accounts in a timely fashion anyway, since it lets us know at the top of the forum when there are accounts to approve.

Now that I'm back doing stuff around here, I've turned off email notifications of new users for everybody (including myself).
