@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

It's not just Games, Toys also

I'm done buying Games for now, Ever since I got Mighty Final Fight back...I don't go out much

If I do see something I will pick it up, I don't buy just to resell

This. Had a bad taste in my mouth for years regarding "friends" and toy collecting pieces of shit in my area. Its why I don't bother with most of the shit anymore if I can help it, but every once in a while, I'm like "Ooh pretty, must get!"

Quote from: crazydean on 08/16/2015, 05:49 PMI'm surprised so many people on here seem to have friends interested in retro video games. Even the guys who really love video games, don't go any further back than N64/PS1.
LOL. You must be in your 20's or barely in your 30's

Yeah, I mean, your friends tend to be in your age group, so that's why it wouldn't be so unusual... Most retro fans on these forums are gonna be people who grew up in the 8/16-bit era starting with NES and moving on to SNES/Genesis/TurboGrafx-16/etc. which would put them in their late 30's now... I'm about to hit 40 myself next month... :/

Right on. I'll be 27 next week. Although, I remember opening a SNES on Christmas, and all my friends at the time had either a SNES or Genesis. I keep in touch with some of them, but they have no interest in anything that's not new and current.

The retro game scene around here just sucks, so that may be part of the problem. There are a lot of resellers around here, and they make it difficult to find deals. Anytime something good comes up on craigslist, it's gone in under an hour. There are two retro game stores, but you're better off buying from ebay, so why even bother? One of the stores even has a table at the local flea market, so just forget about finding a deal before the store nabs it.

I couldn't understand how local stores who way overpriced their goods could get away with it while there's ebay, but then I learned that a) some can't, and have been in the red for a while; and b) those that do are typically long-standing and have a loyal fan-base of occasional-buyers, those buyers who want a game every once in a while and don't want to deal with online buying. Also, they tend to supplement games with fixing consoles, which seems to be the bread and butter of some of these stores.

I think it's a huge profit margin for the few games they do sell, and they sell online, and at conventions. I'd say they are making most of their profit off of buying low, selling online. the store front is just a facade to get people int he door to sell them their things. One way pawn shops, in the door out the internet.
