But when the f**k did jeans stop being jeans and become stretchy pants?

Ok... Granted, it's been a while since I bought jeans. 3-4yrs possibly 5 or more. Lol
But jeans were always jeans. You tried them on, they fit or they didn't. Now.. you can be like three sizes off wear a belt and they still fit.

Now mind you, that's a good thing. But if memory serves of when I was a child and my mom had me wear whitey tighties. They stretch out over time. The last thing I want is some poopy diaper looking pants that stretched out over time.

I am a jeans and t-shirt kinda guy. I want my old jeans back. You know the ones that when you wore them the hell out you knew you had to get new ones.

Just super dang angry I have stretchy pants jeans now. I don't even know if I would call these jeans.

Maybe it's time to grab my shotgun tell the kids to get the hell off my lawn and just start wearing slacks. Unless those sobs are stretchy now too.....

I only wear JeanShorts (a brand of denim shorts I buy at my local Yoga&Yogurt FitnessBar).

They have experienced the same trend towards "stretchy", unfortunately.

The trend towards stretchy jeans has come with the need for all jeans to be as tight as possible.

I remember in high school, my girlfriends' jeans were the same stretch material so they got a skin tight look.

Personally, I have large thighs that I would prefer to hide in baggy pants but that has become quite difficult in the past few years.

Of course they aren't all like that but they are more the norm these days, which is stupid, learn to control that fat or wear sizes that fit.

If you buy specific Levi's and such that have been the same thing for ages they won't be stretchy. If you buy shit at Target it will be stretchy. I did it, and yes, fuck these fucking pants all to fuck. I won't be falling for it again. Hopefully it blows over soon.

I bought a pair of those from amercan eagle cause it was the only kind they had in the color/fade I wanted.

They are pretty damn weird. It feels like you are wearing pajama pants. They are lighter, and pretty dang comfortable, but I prefer the feel of standard jeans.

And you better wear a belt with them, or you will be constantly pulling them up after a couple hours of wear.

The girl at AE said they are moving all of their pants to the stretch fabric. I don't like that, but it's smart from a business standpoint, as it should reduce returns due to shrinkage. A lot of people buy pants that just barely fit, and if they shrink, as cotton tends to do, they return them.

kinda seems these days with clothes in general you're either paying stupid money for actually good clothes, stupid money for a name, or not paying much, but getting crap.

As long as we're having a pants rant, I bought a pair of slacks from Macy's about 3 weeks ago.  Worn and washed them a couple of times.  I'm wearing them today and the seem is ripping on one leg.  I guess I'll stitch it together but man, I sure they'd been sown together well to begin with.

I've had the same issue with a lot of jeans as well.  I dunno if I'm just hard on them but man they seem to wear out fast.  Gap and Old Navy ones last okay, but neither one significantly longer than the other. 

What I've actually started doing is buying them from Costco.  They last about the same time (or a bit longer) and it's only like $12 for a pair so I don't feel bad having to get rid of them.  I actually keeps the overly worn out ones for doing house projects (paint, concrete, etc) and then just throw them away after I'v trashed them.  I know mending is better than ending, but sometimes it's not just worth the time/cost.

To save even more money instead of buying clothes from Old Navy, try a different military surplus store, possibly with new instead of just old items.

I wear both stretchy jeans, and actual denim.   I don't like wearing anything that isn't basically jeans.

The stretch ones are like, the black or acid washed painted on looking jeans.   They are comfortable and basically jeans, but they wear out really fast.  Like within a year, you can see my ass, or my knee comes blasting through.


The denim jeans I wear come from Japan, because for SOME REASON, I can't find waist 28 length 36 in America anymore unless I buy Wrangler's doofy cowboy rodeo jeans.

They are boot cut.   I don't wear boots, so it's really weird to wear them.  They have a zipper.   I hate those.

Levi stopped making the button fly jeans that fit me because "they don't sell well".  Lee and shit basically fell apart too.

So, I buy sort of expensive denim jeans from a Japanese company.  They're those hand-loom ones with the selvedge(?) stitch that all the hipster pieces of shit masturbate to.

I just buy them because they sell 18 and 20oz denim in my waist size and inseam, and it's button fly.   

Japan can make clothes for my lanky ass, but America can't.    I guess I am fortunate that Japanese people like to cuff the flying fuck out of their jeans.   They basically cuff inseam 36 jeans to be like inseam 12, lol.

and they last >1 year.  The wranglers didn't even do that.

assuming you want to pay like 200$ for a pair of jeans, lol.   There's a bunch of companies that do this kind of thing in Japan, and places in Europe.   

It's kinda worth it when you compare functionality/durability/cost.

It's sad, America's denim quality took a giant shit.
