hard to believe that he just was killed through an electric shock conducted through some water drops. i got many direct shocks @230Volts in my live, especially while my childhood, once for almost 5 seconds. still alive.

Like I've said elsewhere, if I were Nintendo, I'd sue the hotel for not preventing his death. If that kid would have lived, he would have spent a lot of money on Nintendo® products. Since he died, that is loss of revenue for Nintendo and they are entitled to it.

I believe this is a conspiracy; someone has been plotting to bring Nintendo down for good this generation and it has started with the flying Wiimote stories. Perhaps it's Sony or Microsoft represenitives? My money is on Sony due to Nintendo catching back on sales with them.

Pirate AC adapter. There were tons of pirate GBA units / AC-adapters around a few years ago, but most of them are gone by now. They were dangerous.

Yeah, but this has nothing to do with Nintendo. It'd be like a kid buying an unlicensed porno Gameboy cart.

In the original article I read, it quoted the parents as saying their son knew better than to mix water and electricity and that they knew how he got the power adaptor. It's unfortunate that the parents didn't know any better than to let their child play with a foreign bootleg electronics device.

If Britain is anything like America, then the family will feel the need to sue somebody. But instead of suing the asian mafia in their own country, some sleazy lawyer will convince them to sue Nintendo instead and Nintendo will probably settle with them, which would set a dangerous precident.

But Nintendo has the safest most reliable hardware of any game company.

There's a local company here that does one of Sony's main websites and they came into my last job to buy some dry ice one day. They were shootig a video/commercial of the PS2 and they said they had to try dry ice, because Sony instructed them to use an effect that wasn't too similar to smoke, because the PS2's have overheating problems and are prone to catching on fire.

What's with all this lawsuit malarky? It's nobody's fault but the kid. Nintendo is not entitled to anything and the hotel staff can't play babysitter to this kid unless one of the staff was instructed to look after him. How was anyone supposed to know what he was doing after the pool?

That's not the way the world works. Especially when it comes to suing big business. There's a class action lawsuit against Nintendo right now over the Wii straps.

Its not about injury or anything, they're just saying that because the strap could potentially break it renders the entire Wii useless and anyone joining the class action suit is entitled to the price of a Wii. Even though Nintendo is already mailing out free replacement straps to anyone.

Straps break, big deal! Just because you underestimated the sensitivity of the Wiimote doesn't mean you're entitled to any money. This lawsuit is being blown way out of proportion. People also have to use their equipment responsibly. "Oh, I broke the strap on my Wiimote, boo-hoo, now give me some money."

No kidding. Most of the so-called "reports" that have come in are baseless with no evidence of any injury whatsoever, just whiney-boy bullshit to try to rake in some free cash.

If you're part of the lawsuit against Nintendo you should be REQUIRED to mail them your Wii system and sign something saying you'll never buy another one since it's "useless". It's bullshit that people can join this suit and still be sitting there playing their system. 100 percent agreed. The replacement strap offer is fine,and they let you choose up to 4-5 if I remember right.
I still don't see how someone could trow the remote at Tv's ect ect,unless they just don't know how to hold onto something or they have nasty greesy crisco,KY jelly hands....

I read about this the other day, poor kid. Although I do remember one of the first things I was told by my parents was not to mess with mains electricity if you're wet. Feel bad for his parents, must have been awful for them.

I don't know what they're teaching these kids over there but I know that when I was in elementary school, we had plenty of lectures dealing with fire safety, electrical safety, and what to do around strangers. Those lessons are pretty damn helpful if you're an elementary school student so don't they teach the same thing in Thailand?

The family was from europe, just vacationing. But no difference, since they use the same electrical plugs in parts of europe. We've all had the lectures (i hope). But usually, the best way for a kid to learn about electricity is for them to get a nice healthy jolt from a lamp or outlet. Too bad this kid was wet and it killed him.
