Have a current favorite movie?
Mine is Network from 1976.
Movie is totally badass and funny as hell. Some of the best dark humor black comedy from the 70ies ever.

I'm sure this will change soon, but currently: Fearless directors cut (Jet Li). Much better than the original release.

I think that mine will always be Army Of Darkness.

But the Big Lebowski and Blade Runner are also very cool.

Funny you mettioned that Gay Niggers From Outer Space mini film. I nabbed it off the net the other day,very funny but really poorly made. Worth watching once.

So many funny moments, I can picture the whole movie in my head. Best part for me was when Oha sings "She's your Queen"

I watched Coming to America recently, good movie

. My favorite part is when that dude who works for the jheri curl company pulls into McDowell's and it plays that hilarious song for the jheri curl company with over-the-top vocals. "Let your SOOOOOULLLL SHIIIIIINNNEE!"

Landau as Legosi---totally insane, loved every minute of it - no wonder he got an Oscar for it....(FYI: See Landau in Mission: Impossible the TV series, it is definitely worth getting this DVD set)

This thread isn't about favorite movies of all time, just a current favorite, so I would have to say:

Knightriders (1981) -- This movie doesn't always get a lot of love and is often criticized (for being too long, tedious, poorly executed, etc.), but I just re-watched it and it is as awesome as ever. There are many different ways to approach this film and enjoy it, and that's why I like it. On one level, I just love seeing the King Arthur legend played out on motorcycles. But then contemporary issues (independent artist vs. sell-out, commercialism, etc.) are woven-in in a competent manner that doesn't seem forced at all. I'd argue that Arthurian legend + contemporary issues = a far more interesting film than a straight adaptation. Then, for fans of Romero / Savini, it's fun seeing Savini do a "decent" job acting. Ed Harris, of course, delivers a very solid performance. Finally, it's interesting to think about what Romero was going through while making the film (the themes in the movie parallel his own career decisions -- he would later work for Hollywood).

I must warn you: Knightriders is a drama first and foremost, with some motorbikes thrown in for good measure. In my book, it's a winning formula. I suspect that many folks here will not be too impressed by it... but I still urge you to give it a chance

Young frankenstein one of my fav Mel Brooks films. My fav scene is when Igor gave Dr. Freddy the brain of Abbey. Hilarious.

Always liked that movie since I was a kid. Most of the different Dawn/Day of the Dead movie cast are in it which was cool.

Yeah, that's why it is so kool: The production of the actual movie mirrored the themes the film dealt with. It wasn't exactly the same, of course, but it certainly is an interesting situation. I think Romero was definitely thinking about his relationship with his "crew" when he was working on Knightriders.

I still haven't brought myself to watch the remakes of the old Dead films... and I totally missed the chance to see Romero's newest Dead film when it was in the theatre. I've got to put that on my Netflix queue before I forget about it again. My brother saw it and said it was decent.

I reserve judgement.

Land of the Dead was great. I saw it in theaters twice. The Dir. Cut on DVD is a better cut though,so rent it instead.
As far as remake of Dawn of the Dead goes,I liked it alot,even though it did not share much with the original it kept the basics there,and put the plot in a much higher gear then before.

Again rent the Dir. Cut of this film also,and if possible hunt down a different region Dir. Cut,because the windshield scene is censored,blocking nudity.I am doubtful the Day of the Dead remake will be as good as the Dawn one was...
