Since there are so bloody many loose carts floating around, the idea hit me to hunt for a manufacturer that produces these weird jewel boxes. But no such manufacturer could be found. Were these custom-made for NEC? That would probably explain the dropping of the design late in the Turbo's life.

My guess is that the sleeves were likewise custom-made for NEC, but these really couldn't be cut from the design...however, it seems that later ones used less plastic.

If no suitable replacement can be found, would anyone be interested in having new cases and sleeves manufactured?

Tatsujin

the old (first grade in black) jewel case is completely customized (except of the transparent front cover), while the later one just got an own inlay (i believe) :)

It seems like it would be much easier to just manufacture a hucard friendly tray which will work with any normal sized single CD case.

If someone produced some of these today, I would surely buy a bunch providing the cost wasn't ridiculous.

I really don't have much intrest in HuCards unfortunetly so I can't say I'm into getting some manufactured...that sounds extermely pricey to me.  I think the best thing to do is maybe find an inexpensive alternative.

I would buy dozens of these. If possible, it would be nice to have both black and white colors. :)

Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Would it be possible to get the American style "armband" that holds the HuCard in place?

Those armbands rule!  I think it is a way better idea than the thin piece of foam which comes with Japanese HuCards.  Unfortunately a lot of people seemed to have broken those "armbands" off.

Agreed. The armbands look tacky, but they are perfect for holding in HuCards. My Japanese cases are always waggling HuCards around when I pick them up and some cases that do have little hooks to hold the HuCard in place (like Bomberman '94) aren't as easy to use and don't work nearly as well.

Yeah, the armbands weren't the prettiest things in the world, but neither were the Turbografx 16 cases or artwork for that matter. The tacky looking armbands were at the bottom of my list of complaints. lol

Right now I'm looking into various plastics manufacturers here in Puerto Rico; there are quite a few. It should not be hard to find someone who can do this.

Agreed.  It's also better to have the spine label protected inside the case instead of just a sticker on the edge.

Anyway, I'd take a few cases and sleeves for my currently homeless HuCards.

I was thinking that between all the people on this forum we could come up with some kind of superior way to hold the hu-card in place on the tray.  Hopefully something which is part of the tray design itself, with no moving parts.

I think the armband should be updated for the 21st century with flashing LEDs and the such.

Just as long as there is still room for a cup holder on the tray as well.
