You ever hear about people getting Tattoos of their lovers, and then they break up? Such tats are called 'regrets'.

Well, the same thing happens to Videogames. Someone scratches their name into a cart they think they will own forever. But now they don't. This thread is to showcase such games. Perhaps their previous owners will find them here, and be happy that their former love found a new, happy home. I'll start.

Name: "DR"
Game: Keith Courage in Alpha Zones
System: Turbografx-16
Notes: Came with the jewel case and manual, but no comic. Perhaps DR still has it.

Lol.. that dude must have been hard core about his copy of Keith Courage. Did he sign the
back of the card, too?

No, just the front. If there was stuff on the back, I'd have taken pics of that too.

Here's another:

Name: "Alex Morgan"
Game: Sonic 2
System: Genesis
Notes: Case, but no manual. I suspect a loose cart and case were matched.

I have a reverse case of this, I guess. For certain Sega Master System games, I used to fill out my name, date and score in the instruction manual in the back section where there was a dedicated space for it. When I was stupid, I sold a lot of my SMS games to buy some dumb Genesis game like Mystic Defender or something. I bet some really cool kid who is in to hip-hop got them and axed "Who iz dis Joe fukker and why is his scorez be so awsum?"

Name: "H.R. GIGER (Hans Ruedi Giger)"
Game: NECROMANCER
System: PC Engine
Notes: Complete. Unfortunately he didn't put his name on the back of the hucard, since he generally doesn't like to write on plastic things.

That sucks that your copy of Necromancer is ruined like that, Tats. I doubt you could ever sell that one. I'd rather have DR's Keith Courage.

Kidding, of course

I have a few of those, that I plan on posting here eventually.

DAMN. Now that's just awesome. Getting a PC Engine game with H.R. Giger artwork signed by the man himself is ten types of awesomeness. I loved his work on Alien, but I've heard him to be quite the creepy person. How did he strike you? Was he nice?

That's awesome Tats. What did he say when you asked him to sign a game manual? I imagine it was a bit of a "what the fuck?" moment.

H.R. Giger was probably like "WTF is my artwork doing on this? I would never have approved of this!" Either way it's pretty cool.

That actually sounds similar to his reaction from what I remember of Tatsujin's story.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

@Necromancer: he's a very kind person in RL. he's some crazy guy for sure, otherwise he coulnd't do such art things he's doing. but that's just normal for a high grade artist of his class. he's a long-sighted man and for sure had a very fullfilled life. although he's always in kinda moneytroubles (as a lot of artists are during their life), since he spends a lot of cash for his projects and from hollywood he didn't see just a fraction of what he should have get for his important works he did. but as he often likes to say, he never was a good bussinessman.

@geise & BT: when i passed the manual to him, he examined it and asked me where's this from and that he can't remember he ever did something like that. so i explained him, that this is a cover fram a japanese only game and almost 20 years old and that they used his art to decorate the cover. i also showed him the copyright by H.R. Giger and then he nooded and signed it.

yeah..i really wished that he would have signed the hucard as well, since there is a place specially for the card owners name. but when he took the card in his hands and examined it as well, he said:"i do not like to sign a piece of plastic and refused to sign it."

end of story :P

=D> Very awesome Tatsujin! I was wondering about the cover art of Necromancer....

Dark Fact

I once saw an NES cartridge of Kirby's Adventure with the words "Feed me M & M's" scratched on the back and thought that was weird. 8-[

Yeah, I know. It's not related to the games I have or any of the used games I bought but still thought I should point that out.

Tat, thank you so much! Great pic!

Do you remember the name of the painting? I was looking through Giger's Necronomicon (and other books) trying to find the original art. I found some similar/related works, but I don't remember finding an exact match. Is it available in a book? Which one?

Again, thanks for the pic :)

Tatsujin

unfortunately i do not remember the name (although it was written there). i'm also not totally aware of his books and their contents. so i do not know in which of his books, this picture was displayed once.

sorry for the dark picture, since in the whole museum (which is als held in quite dark ambience) was no photos allowed, so i had to take it secretly w/o unsing a flash.

@darK: this is the original picture which hudson later asked to use it for the cover of necromancer. therefore on the inlet as well on the Hucard, the H.R. Giger copyright is written.

The lack of flash actually adds drama to the painting.... as if you wanted to accentuate the atmosphere of the scene. :)

By looking at that picture without the added brightness, it looks like a scene out of Alien:shock:
