2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

It will be some time before it reaches couch potatos' hands, but NEC's new TV remote prototype promises eternal power and no battery changes. Ever. How so? It doesn't use any. How is this sorcery possible?
According to the witches and wizards at NEC Electronics and Onryoku Hatsuden, their new remote generates electricity when the users clicks on any button. They are planning to see the first production remotes in 2011.

Good, now if they could make wireless game controllers do the same thing that would be ace!

What's up NEC?  You're answering a question that no one has asked.  :-s

They should keep it simple and add a rechargeable battery and solar cells.  Then with the free time leftover, they could design a PCE-on-a-chip.

Those new type of switches hit the market over 6 months ago.  They use the energy of the persons "button pushing effort" to generate a short pulse of electricity.  So, it's good for impulse event type operations, like energizing a transmitter for a VERY short period of time to send a VERY short message.  The original intent was for short-range wireless applications, like adding a light switch to control a wireless lamp for those installations where you can't run any wires (like in an existing cement wall).  However, at the time of inception, they were like $75 for the switch, and another $75 for the damn lamp socket!  Guess they're a bit cheaper now?

Hell, I would love a TE that you can recharge just by playing it with the added solar cells.

If you read the NEC Japan press release, the industrial designer said that he is an avid PCE fan and listened to a lot of chiptunes (Download, Dungeon Explorer, Makyo Densetu, etc.) whilst creating the new TV remote.

He also hinted that he played a lot of Gomola Speed instead of taking cigarette breaks (he's trying to quit).

Pretty awesome.

There better be a '6280 somewhere in there, or I'm not buying it!
